How do you like this Iowa DB? Michael Ojemudia

What round do you think can we wait to get him? Round 4? Round 5?

He totally shut down Michael Pittman Jr. when Iowa played USC! I had seen his name prior to that bowl game, but when I saw him defend Pittman I was like "this is a guy that should be the Colts radar"

Jordan Love is one of them. I highly doubt he falls, but there is a chance that his rawness and/or possible interview hiccups(this is just hypothetical, I haven't heard anything suggesting that he's not doing well in interviews) might drop him.

In general the players that drop, drop because of what the medical checks at the combine return or because of some scandal that's revealed. So...

-I guess Tua has to be on that list too.

-I was listening to The Draft Show and they mentioned something about Kinlaw knee problem, not sure if it's a big concern or something minor but that was the reason Jawaan Taylor dropped.

-Delpit has had some injuries and some unimpressive tackling so... maybe him?

-Laviska Shenault is another one that has battled injuries, if his medicals return some red flags... maybe him?

I was thinking Shenault Jr as someone like Metcalf also. He was banged up last season, but 2018, he was incredible.

he looks like a good guy to look at in rounds 5 or later.

In looking at a lot of clips posted, he seems to have a good motor and understanding of the game but it also looks like his short arms limit what he can do while engaged.  Also, I would like to learn more about the Ole Miss defensive scheme because he seemed to willing to play on the defensive side of the ball.  On several of the stretch plays posted, he did a great job moving down the line, but you want to see him do that on the offensive side of the LOS (not far, about 12-24 inches on the O side of the ball) but he didn't try to get on the offensive side.  But that could also be how he was coached to play.

Benito's first few seasons he played in a 4-3. This last season he played in a 3-4 bc of a new DC. He's versatile

Benito Jones has been a favorite mid-round NT of mine and this write-up of him details why he's the most underrated DT in this draft at the moment. This is a very long breakdown with a lot of clips, but well worth the read for us draft freaks.

** Note: This was copy/pasted from a post on the NFL Draft subreddit from user Kubrick__ and is not my original work **

I've watched Benito for several months and I would really like this pick in the mid Rounds. He is country strong. I think he does well against the Run as well as getting pressure on the QB. Somewhere between 3rd-5th Rd is where i think he'll go

Say his medical dosnt go well, he makes it out of the first round, and we didnt pick a qb at 13. Would you still take him at 34 and have him sit until fully healthy?

I would! I watched Tua read defenses and respond accordingly. Short, medium, and long passes were good and he can run if flushed from the pocket. In the NFL he has to be taught to throw the ball away, if need be, rather than hanging on to a broken play, so he doesn't get injured.

  6. My trade down scenario would be with Dolphins since they have several picks..

    Colts

    Rd1 -13... 1150pts
    Rd4 -112.. 70pts
    Rd6 -173.. 22.2pts
    *1242.2 total
     Dolphins
    Rd1 -18.. 900
    Rd2 -56.. 340
    *1240 total

We trade down 5 spots in Rd 1 and throw in a 4th & 6th for their Rd 1 and Rd2 where there are better players to be had.

    We would have 18, 34, 44, 56.

This draft has some positions that are deep with talent. Some guys that should be going late 1st will be there at 34 and some guys that should be high 2nd will be there at 56. Besides, #56 has been pretty good for the Colts, Lol

Going to kick off my WR write ups with Brandon Aiyuk, Listed between 6 and 6-1 but typically shows 205 for weight. He was the successor for N'keal Harry out of Arizona State however the two couldn't be more opposite. The guy is a absolute burner once he gets behind a defense. Games watched were against Michigan state, USC, Oregon state and Oregon. I will say he did suffer from some QB play and there were several times he was open but was overlooked.

    Strengths

The kid is an absolute burner and once he is gone, go ahead and mark it a TD. Versatile and will play special teams and return kicks and punts at a very effective rate. Does a absolutely wonderful job of setting up a CB for a double move. Has quick and choppy feet. Can be very agile and when he wants he can leave a defender in his dust after his first cut. Shows that he consciously attempts to catch the ball with his hands. Shows the ability to learn and get better and is a good candidate to build up.

    Weaknesses

He is not physical at all. If he gets pressed at the line he will lose the battle 90% of the time.  This comes in at blocking as well, there are times where he just moves his feet and lets the defender run right beside him. Has a problem with drops and losing control of the ball, is a natural body catcher even though he will try to use his hands to catch the ball. He almost seems lazy at times and can be very slow in and out of breaks. He gives up on routes before the ball is thrown if he doesnt think he is going to have the ball thrown to him. A Lot of his film leaves me questioning his effort and motor.

    Overall

I came into watching his film very excited from a little bit of forum hype. His numbers where impressive enough to see him as a higher prospect. However I came away very unimpressed. He is a deep threat WR but does not have a sudden step to him. He is a longer build up speedster. I don't think he would be a good fit for the Colts, I believe we drafted the same style player only way more dynamic in Parris Campbell last year. A team like the Ravens or Chargers would likely be a much better fit for him. What turned me off the most on him was how sluggish he is during some plays and almost appears like he is just jogging to his break in the route, he's  got the speed so i'm not sure why he doesn't utilize it? Low effort players do nothing to me no matter how athletic they are.

I am trying to keep these less in depth then last year because of complaints how long they have been in previous years, I also will not include guess' like draft spot and player comps unless one just jumps out at me.

Good job, and thanks. I disagree on him not having a quick step. He's very twitchy to me and could also be a threat in the return game. My only digs on him is like you said, he's not all that physical (given his size, understandable), and struggles getting off the line vs the press.

The weakness though is negated if you're running him in the slot or motioning from the Z. In short, don't use him as a deep X. Line him up off the LOS or motion him so he doesn't get tied up. He's great after the catch and deep, and IMO will be a nice weapon for a team that uses him correctly and has a QB that is accurate deep and in the seam.

Who complained about these being too long? lol... Player comps are good too.

I wonder if Aiyuk would be satisfied being a KR/PR & Gunner?

Sergio Brown was an Elite gunner, but he wanted to be a starting Safety & paid like a starting Safety. He wasn't. He thought to highly of himself.

Could Aiyuk be "that guy" on Special Teams for us with an occasional WR snap... ?? Idk

I think the WR strategy will largely be impacted by QB strategy. If they stick with JB, we'll go possession WR (X or big slot). Deep/speed threats aren't likely to get a lot of use with JB. If we intend to draft a QB, I think you'll see us go Z or speed/slot assuming we bring back Funch. My preference would be to draft a QB, and get both (big X and speed/deep threat). There will plenty of quality quality guys still in the mid and late rounds to pick up some steals. The WR crop is crazy deep.

Duvernay is a Slot WR with great speed. The Colts could move Parris Campbell outside.

Make no mistake JB can overthrow WRs downfield with his arm...

Aiyuk would replace Chester Rogers and do both KR & PR at first before becoming more involved as a WR.

Receiving TEs usually create a mismatch which is why Reich employs them in the game plan. A tall WR like Pittman Jr can be used in a similar way.

  9. WRs that consistently catch the ball when it's thrown to them tend to be my favorites. The 2 WRs with the highest catch % were in the Senior Bowl.

     1) Michael Pittman Jr -85% c.r.

        - didn't do much in SB, but did well in the regular season. Blanketed in bowl game vs Iowa; Biletnikoff Finalist

    2) Devin Duvernay - 83% c.r.

         - couple of nice catches in SB. Has the build of a RB, but with WR speed (ran a 10.27 100-meter. For comparison Tyreek Hill ran a 10.19)

I've looked into Brandon Aiyuk as well. He can do WR/KR/PR really well!

All 3 of these WRs would do well on the Colts.

Pittman has height and great hands.

Duvernay has great speed and great hands.

Aiyuk has great speed and can be a 'swiss-army-knife' player.

I just clarify it's not just him, it's also where he's drafted. And as I said, what to do at pick 34 is a mystery to me so maybe someone like him is the right choice, afterall. I would concede that this early I don't have much to go off of. The bits I had seen of him I was concerned about some body catches and thought he didn't look explosive. His balance looked insane though iirc, definitely can slide out of a tackle. I also try to give players projected in the top 3 round a good look at some point especially if they are in a position of need, so I'm sure I'll watch some play by play stuff on him and may feel different. I think he's great, don't get me wrong, but I like someone like KJ Hill or Donovan Peoples-Jones just as much and they are going in the late second not late 1st/early second. Just my 2 cents.

I was just curious what your thoughts were. Everyone on this forum wants the Colts to be the best (except for the trolls) and no one agrees 100% with everyone else, so like i said I was just wondering.

I know KJ's name but I would need to look into him more. DPJ i have watched ever since he chose to go to Michigan. I really wish Harbaugh would've run a better Offense. DPJ has some talent but I think he was under-utilized. He may end up being a much better NFL player than college just by what NFL team he goes to.

    I definitely like it!

I'm personally, for now, on team "Anthony Gordon at No.44". I'm not really a fan of Aijuk at 34 though, but we all have guys we like or don't like. Honestly pick 34 is the biggest enigma for me. When looking at prospect rankings I'm often left feeling underwhelmed with who shows up there. My hope would be someone surprising Falls to us, but that doesn't really make for a realistic mock, so I'll have to stay tuned this off-season to see who seems worthy.

What don't you like about Aiyuk?

He had 1192 yds as a WR, 446 yds as a KR, and 226 yds as a PR. He has great speed and if i remember correctly he was the #1 Post-route WR in college football.

I honestly don't think he will even be available at #34

Has anyone else seen this guy play? This dude is a monster who is athletic and fast. I know Linebacker isn't a need, but Simmons not only plays Linebacker; he can play Safety, and rush the passer coming off the edge. Imagine him and Darius on the same field together. If he's there at 13, do you draft him? I know it's highly unlikely, but I would love to have him on the Colts.

Simmons reminds me of Kam Chancellor. Maybe a little Deon Bucannon also. Both were LB/SS and were mismatches for opposing offenses. Being that big and athletic they have range in coverage, but can lower the boom against the run.

Simmons can be used in a Seattle 4-3 or a Cardinals 3-4 or even a 49ers 4-3 wide-9. He really is a great chess piece when drawing up a defensive strategy. If we get a DT in FA i think drafting Simmons would be a great option.

Etienne is a beast. Dude is my second favorite back in this draft behind Dobbins.

Both are amazing RBs. I think Etienne is a little better because of the amount of broken tackles, but either way, the football team that drafts Etienne or Dobbins becomes a better football team just by adding them. It may not be a question of who is #1 or #2, but this guy is 1A & that guy is 1B.

Had no idea who he was until I heard the Stick to Football guys get excited about him. James Lynch from Baylor. They expected him to return to school. Plays inside and out but is seen as a DT at the next level. Thought this would be interesting to some considering DT is a need that’s discussed often:. lines up inside and outside too.

He's been playing more 3-4 DE, but he's athletic enough to play anywhere on a 4-3 line. Lynch really is a great player.

If we picked up Javon Hargrave from the Steelers, drafted Lynch, and brought in Brentson Buckner as the D-line coach I think we could run a hybrid 4-3/3-4 like the 49ers.
