I thought I saw one of your best buddies here today. (The one who likes Foreigner.) He has not been active on here  much. I wonder if you'd send him a PM or play a song for him. I think he would appreciate it. :)

"Whoa, whoa, whoa, heaven let your light shine down." 1 of the best melodic lyrics ever written man.

Right up there with Queensrÿche's masterpiece "Silent Lucidity" man.

I admire that about you RR7. You appreciate power ballads & blow the roof off the joint rock n roll pulse pounding anthems equally. M-432 understands quality slow tracks too.

Every time, this Looking Glass tune comes on the radio, I always end up singing along without fail.

"...And there's a girl in this harbor town
And she works layin' whiskey down
They say "Brandy, fetch another round"
She serves them whiskey and wine

The sailors say "Brandy, you're a fine girl" (you're a fine girl)
"What a good wife you would be" (such a fine girl)
"Yeah your eyes could steal a sailor from the sea"
      (dooda-dit-dooda), (dit-dooda-dit-dooda-dit)

      Brandy wears a braided chain
Made of finest silver from the North of Spain
A locket that bears the name
Of the man that Brandy loves"

I have a soft spot for hypnotic songs that put me in a trace & take me to a different plane for a few minutes.

I remember that song from when I was very young!  I always liked it!  Thanks for all your kind words and of course, Johnny!

I am in awe of Steve Miller man. His catalog of timeless tracks just gets better with age. 1 of the nicest musical icons you will ever meet too. So humble & giving of his time. Steve deserves all the love he gets from fans 1,000 times fold.

    4. southwest1

      southwest1

1 last thing about Steve Miller that resonates with me is that usually supremely gifted musicians tend to be dismissive of other music enthusiasts not on the same plane as them. Not Steve. He just lives for helping musicians out & get better regardless of your level of expertise or desire to blow off steam.

Translation: Mr. Miller treats all walks of life & talent the exact same way. With respect, joy, & dignity. He really does. The everyman's everyman for lack of a better phrase. Love the guy!

Lol!  I don't want to seem like I preach.  I really don't.  Though there is so much bull% in this Country today that if you have an open mind..you are branded a "Liberal".  I have been a registered Independent for almost 20 years...neither side is out for us.  Just a pissing contest between self entitled entities that want to rape you of your tax dollars.  I appreciate those who tell it like it is, they are the true warriors of the people.

  5. I LOVE the funk of The Chili Peppers...this new song reminds me of a 70's funk tune...

Tesla is the best. Man, I love those guys! They can do anything...Ballads, covers, straight up rock n roll. They never get enough credit for what quality musicians they truly are live. Simply fantastic!

      RR7,

"Pour Some Sugar ON Me" is a Def Leppard classic except ever since Mr. O'Brien went with this promo about his TV move to TBS; I can't quite visualize that number the same way ever again.

      See...

I was really bummed when Layne Staley died, he was one of the most unbelievable, unique vocalist to ever grace us with his presence.

I revere Ann & Nancy Wilson. Such strong women who excelled at bridges, melodies, & lyrics. They knew instinctively the value in catchy hooks & melodies. Something metal & hard rock bands tend to ignore to their detriment I'm afraid.

Plus, Ann & Nancy understood the importance of good diction & annunciation of words or phrases when singing songs live & in the studio.

Vince Neil & the Crue know they have made it & become mainstream when you see trailer TV spots like this RR7 & M-432.

I laughed so hard when I first saw this. LOL!

Whoa, no "Bad Boy Boogie" with Tommy Lee's flipping drum set? Seriously though, I love the groove in this number. I never get tired of this tune.

It's just an infectious song that grows on you the more you listen to it. 1 of my favorites from this band.

I do like that LoverBoy Hertz commercial on TV. It's the perfect blend of cheesiness & reunion rock n roll rhetoric.

Good stuff. My favorite tune of theirs is 'working for the weekend.' That song still holds up & may get you a speeding ticket in 2017. haha

I liked the song so much that I wanted to listen to more of this band's music. I listened to their Greatest Hits album (2000) on Google Play. I like their music a lot. Thank you again for posting this. :)

Silent Lucidity is to power ballads what Silent Night is to putting a bow on Christmas. 1 of the best melodic songs ever written. It puts me in a mental, take stock trance every time I hear it.

Thank you for all your musical contributions RR7. I really respect your tastes.

Next, I suppose some Jimmy Page self reflection is now in order. Seriously, this is a great song IMO.

An incredible solo album by Coverdale & a Zeppelin frontman...

I always liked "Gambler" from Whitesnake's early days too.

The vinyl needle crackling between the record grooves is so soothing to me. Plus, I love the dominant keyboard presence in this number as well.

No 'Holy Diver' really? Gotta remedy that...

I really like this Rob Lundgren vocal cover of this timeless classic. He annunciates the word 'Diver' with an elongated tone just right.

Malakai,  just copy the url and paste it directly in the post and it should show the video.  I loved Dio btw and his time with Rainbow and Black Sabbath!

  17. Tired of the negativity on here....just felt like listening to Stevie, whether it be solo. as a duet or with Fleetwood Mac.

I'm with ya M-432. No matter how bleak INDY's season may appear to be; I always watch & root for the horseshoe no matter what.

I like that about you M-432. You're loyal to INDY, but also know that this HC/GM dynamic must be altered for the sanity of Colts fans worldwide.

No disrespect intended toward Ryan or Chuck at all. Thanks for your contributions to our team & city, but this partnership isn't working out anymore & a new direction is mandatory.

Okay, SW1 is from WI not INDY, but it feels like a second home to me like an adopted city to me anyway. :D
