Thank you RR7 for your generous music tribute on my behalf. It is immensely appreciated. I am forcing myself to proceed forward in the wake of my nephew's death with mixed results. I know I'm not the only one to lose somebody incredibly close to me via suicide so, this circumstance hardly makes me unique. I realize that. Nevertheless, I've heard it said that out of great tragedy & pain creativity can grow & germinate amongst those left behind to go forward. Blues musicians talk about this occurrence a lot.
In any event, I appreciate the musical therapy session. Much obliged.
I've never felt this level of numbness before like I've been hallowed out with a rusty spoon. At any rate, I'm hoping that time, space, & music will eventually return my fractured psyche back to some version of what I used to be before Matthew took his own life. Time will tell I guess. I wouldn't this level of agony on anybody.
Thanks again for the nice musical medley.

Just felt like listening to it...

Open Mic Night....for all you "Pulp Fiction" fans....the soundtrack of "K Billy's Super Sounds Of The Seventies". As always, just add what you want...if you want?

I love this song by "The Killers"....
-
Felt like listening to some Southern Rock...full albums.

There are two teams that I have followed and been a fan of since my diaper days....one the Colts the other the Yankees. I know many hate the Yankees but I am proud of them going in to game 7 of the ALCS. They weren't evern supposed to make the playoffs and the future is bright! So for all those that hate them....some Damn Yankees!
-
RIP Tom Petty.....one of my all time faves. I had seen him play a few times but none was as good as at The Jones Beach Amphitheater in 1985...thunder and lightning coming off the angry Atlantic ocean in his background and after two delays........he just played his heart out in the rain! He began it with this song...

I prefer musicians who can put me in a trace & take me to another world for awhile. I love the slow & subdued drumming on this track. I always play "Hard On Me" when I'm in a reflective mood reminiscing about the past & what lead me here. Not just this thread, but what it all means man. Deep, I know.

I can't wait to "Feel Your Love Tonight" is 1 of my favorite under utilized or played tracks on the radio IMO. That & "Drop Dead Legs" RR7.
Diamond Dave always understood that rock & roll was all about female exploration & discovery.
He made no apologies for why he got in the music business. LOL!
"Drop dead legs, pretty smile, hurts my head, gets me wild.
Dig that steam, giant butt, makes me scream, I get nuh-nuh-nothing but the shakes over you
And nothing else could ever do.[Chorus:]
You know that you want it.
I know what it is.
You know that you want it, baby,
When the night is through, will I still be loving you ?
Dig those moves, vam-pire set me loose, get it higher.
Throw my rope, loop-de-loop nice white teeth, Betty Boop.
Set it cool real heavy.
I ain't fooled, gettin' ready. "This version is just on guitar, but it's strong & very tight meaning it's crisp quality. Oh yeah.

Here ya go Brother!

Hey RR, I went to see Edgar Winter, Alice Cooper and Deep Purple at Klipsch Music Center a couple of nights ago. Pretty good show, Alice Cooper's band was bad butt. For 69 years old Alice still puts on a hell of a show. Deep Purple had their moments but age has caught them. Just didn't play with strong energy.

I know you love these guys Brother!

I love bands that "Surrender" mistakes openly & honestly. What you see is the genuine article no gimmicks. They guys come to play for real. Darn straight.
Yeah, I know it's 3 times, but this baby is the best version & well greased machine now. Trust me. This version literally brings the house down to rumble & ashes.

After you wanted her to want me, her mamma is gonna be ticked off that such a fine lady decided to "Give It Away" for nuthin' like she was a 'Cheap Trick.'
Momma didn't raise a flousy now & neither did papa either.
Sometimes, trying too hard to be part on "The In Crowd" leads to a slippery slope...

Open Mic Night.......................

"Baby, I'm a prisoner oh chained by love. It's so easy to see I could never be free; I'm a prisoner chained by love." [Wah, wah] chained by love."
Don just rhymed so well with simple lyrics that just work.
"It's so easy to see I will never be free" will remain in your brain forever after hearing this song only once. That's what I mean by timeless hooks.
Dokken is very similar to Journey. Cheesy looking videos, but timeless tracks that never lose their luster no matter how old the songs get.

Checkout this cover of the classic "Alone Again" by a woman named Karly C. It's pretty good. I like singers who actually respect the artist they are paying tribute to. It's modified slightly but still works due to the power of her vocals.
Major props lady for exposing young kids to Dokken who never heard their stuff before. Power ballad mastery at it's best. Sweet!
-
What I liked about the Karly C. cover is this: It puts the emphasis on the words "Without You" instead of "Alone Again" like a romantic breakup vs a nomadic like existence that Don's vocals evoke to me in that number. Also, it still works even without Lynch's guitar work.
"Now, the tears they fall like rain... Without you."
That's a very tender emotion pain & yet she makes that pain strong, visceral, & nothing to be ashamed of. Cool. Like a badge of honor & rite of passage experienced by us all no exception.

Just felt listening to some Crue!

Rod Stewart and Jeff Beck.......................nuff said, "Faces".

RIP Glen, my Dad and I used to sing this song together when i was a kid...

I will return to football threads soon. Moving is so tedious. Selling your old place, deciding what to donate, pitch, keep, waiting to move into a new place, of course; the eternal joy otherwise known as paperwork--change of address stuff & fighting for reasonable disability accommodations in the new spot. Sigh, nothing is ever easy is it?
In the meantime, I need to hear Bruce & the boys live today. Hit me with some "Moonchild" please.
Ah, that's better.
I love women who view metal as an art form & can bring the house down as well as any man can. Singer Chaos Heidi does a killer version of "Moonchild" herself. Beautifully done. PS: The bonding with the cat session rocks too.
Even when I'm 80, if I make it that far; I'll still be listening to Iron Maiden & heavy metal til I drop. Superb gritty cover Heidi!

I thought it would be fun to post one hit wonders....please free to add.
Well this group actually has two hits....

"American Pie" is one of my favorite songs. I also like "Starry, Starry Night", which isn't as well known, but just as good. I like Van Gogh's painting, "Starry Night", and the song reflects the meaning behind that painting.
I hadn't heard about the domestic violence incident. I don't know what to think about that.

Two white boys that could belt out the rhythm and blues...

Sorry, I do this sometimes....Joe Walsh overload!
