Lol. You may have an idea but you do have a lot of buddies. You're a very popular guy here.

(Lol to "Bat BLEEP Crazy". It was that easy -- just "bleep" it out. Why didn't I think of that?) :)

"If you want blood" is 1 of the best iconic rock themes of all time by Bon Scott. It always gets my blood pumping.

Time to play something Dyno-Mite Baby!

I do like that LoverBoy Hertz commercial on TV. It's the perfect blend of cheesiness & reunion rock n roll rhetoric.

Good stuff. My favorite tune of theirs is 'working for the weekend.' That song still holds up & may get you a speeding ticket in 2017. haha

Absolutely loved those "Superman-ed" Bagpipes mixed with lead guitar! Great new sound from a great old tune. :scoregood:

Bagpipes have never been my favorite instrument on the planet, but it's still a cool video though.

Bon Scott was one of a kind that is for sure. One's drinking yourself to death is never good. I found it strange his death certificate was classified as 'death by misadventure'.

I lost two Friends who loved this song to Heroin................they loved this song and obviously had issues....but hey were my Friends regardless.  We choose our Friends and I am thankful you are mine.

I understand what you are saying. I baby sat one of my best friends when he decided to do heroin and thought I was going to lose him more than once. He finally got straight after a few years and has done great for quite a long time now. Sorry to hear you lost a couple of friends due to that. Gone but never forgotten. Good friends are hard to come by and I appreciate your friendship for sure. Take care.

Thanks for the shout out RR7!  Since Mr. Vai was on your brain, here ya go...

"That's Steve Vai. What a nice little boy." Wha Wha...

I really enjoyed this collaboration with David Coverdale that still holds up well even in 2018.

A top tier power ballad that Vai was vital on while touring with WS in the 90's man.

I love how David elongates or stretches out the words "emotion" & "devotion". Good stuff.

    3. southwest1

      southwest1

I wasn't sure where to put this. Yes, I know it's not Steve Vai related. However, despite that fact, I wanted you to see a well done instrumental treatment of "I Was Made For Lovin' You" by some talented Russian musicians. Women can most certainly bring the house down.

The face paint was pretty cool. I especially liked Ace Frehley's makeup job. And of course, drummer Peter Criss as the cat. This time on keyboard in this version. Paul Stanley's star was a nice touch too.

Folks from Mother Russia specialize in caviar, vodka, & timeless Rock N Roll baby. Oh Yeah. The production value is stellar & off the chain IMHO.

most memorable moment in concert history for me & yes it wasnt the greatful dead who saw good 400 times and yet this was more memorable moment

1970  Stonybrook University GYM- sat right side of stage somewhat in front 0f it  ) no behind seats there

10=15 feet behind me was monstrous speaker

who doing Tommy  - suddenly Pete Townshend jumps up and strums guitar as screeching high pitched voice yells what seemed to be right into my ears HY MY NAME IS UNCLE ERNIE - they are still ringing

Pink Floyd is probably my all time favorite band.  Run Like Hell, Wish you were here, all of it....fabulous musicians.

    3. 2006Coltsbestever

      2006Coltsbestever

@radio, me too. Machine, Time, Learning to Fly, and Brick in the Wall too. A lot of people have the misconception that people that like Pink Floyd do some sort of drugs. I have never did a drug in my life, I drink but never have done any drugs. I get drug tested where I work so it's not even worth it anyway. There are people that don't like them believe it or not, one of my best friends don't. It's a different type of music that you either love or dislike I guess. What I love about them, some of their music relaxes you and some of their music gets you pumped up. They can play any kind of music. Machine is great to listen too when working out. Comfortably Numb is great when I have had about 3 or 4 Crown Royals haha

I was telling my boss last week how much I love Pink Floyd and listened to them growing up.  He called me a druggie.  I just said, "Whatever.  Never did any drugs and never will.  But, I told him if he can't recognize genius and excellent music maybe he's the druggie!"  Ha!

Saw Hendrix In H. S. @ the New Years Concert that was rerecorded and  became The  Band of Gypsies Album

  13.

I like this dude as an actor and thought I may share some perspective?

    https://simple.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tom_Hardy

Check him out in "Lawless" and "The Drop" and see the range.....

    1. southwest1

      southwest1

He is a darn fine actor no question. I saw him most recently in "Dunkirk" as a British Royal Air Force pilot

Yeah, I also reviewed him in the movies "Lawless" & "Locke." Tom is definitely talented. He knows how to convey genuine emotions without saying a word. Rage, apprehension, dismay, & you stepped on my last nerve & must pay the piper now. LOL!

Locke is fascinating because it takes place entirely in a car stuck on the freeway in traffic as he tries to get to the hospital before his mistress gives birth. Oh by the way, he's married to someone else with kids. Details; details. Complicated is an understatement.

Tom is good at subdued performances which look minimalist on the surface, but run very deep when you watch say "Lawless" twice & see how much he cares for the prohibition prostitute in the picture. He truly loves her.

Thanks for the Range recommendation brother.

  14. @lollygagger8 @BR-549 as well...I just can't get this song out of my head...how did I not appreciate it more back in the day????????

SRV is bleeping superb no matter what the man does. Why must legends die early well before the world is willing to let them go? It always bothers me. At any rate, tremendous selection RR7!

Appreciate the insights from CC1 & Lolly8 as always too.

Thanks Lolly8 for the Bonamassa live clip BTW. Jesus! He's magical when he teams up with Beth Hart on stage as well. That's a long time to hold your cell phone up. Thanks for the sacrifice so the rest of us can marvel at his musicianship.

The 3rd video says Jimi, but it's actually the SRV version. That person who said it was Jimi should be ashamed!

    3. lollygagger8

      lollygagger8

      I agree with y'all.

Jimi was the innovator, and SRV was influenced heavily by him. Not sure the student can be better than the master, but he's damn close!

I think Jimi was waaaaaaaaaaaaay ahead of his time. He was the reason I started playing, so I have to tip my hat to him. The sheer power/volume, effects, the way he played, was all a first of it's kind. He's getting those high notes on a right handed guitar upside down which is absolutely astonishing. Plus to do what he did while being on the drugs he was on while playing is a feat in itself! lol

That said, SRV was a much cleaner player, and I feel more blues based. His tone was perfectly honed and people strive for it to this day. I think he took the blues/rock/Jimi thing to the next level as far as sound/ability/tone. He was next level as a player, and a great showman in his own right.

    4. lollygagger8

      lollygagger8

I agree with crazycolt.....so many excellent guitar players out there. All different styles.

Jimi, SRV, Eric Clapton, Eric Johnson, Joe Stariani, Steve Vai, Dimebag Darrell (Pantera) ....I could be here all day!

I've seen Bonamassa live, and he's absolutely amazing. I taped this front row of his concert here in Fort Wayne....he was somehow better live than on studio recordings!

Dude did all that on an acoustic! lol

I've been getting into Doyle Bramhall II lately. He's written alot for Eric Clapton. He's not amazing guitar player, but he's good and a heckuva a song writer.

He's got a new album coming out, and Clapton is on this song:

Here's some of his older stuff (Jimi inspired!) :

This is one of my favorite's of his:

"Baby, I'm a prisoner oh chained by love. It's so easy to see I could never be free; I'm a prisoner chained by love." [Wah, wah] chained by love."

Don just rhymed so well with simple lyrics that just work.

"It's so easy to see I will never be free" will remain in your brain forever after hearing this song only once. That's what I mean by timeless hooks.

Dokken is very similar to Journey. Cheesy looking videos, but timeless tracks that never lose their luster no matter how old the songs get.

Checkout this cover of the classic "Alone Again" by a woman named Karly C. It's pretty good. I like singers who actually respect the artist they are paying tribute to. It's modified slightly but still works due to the power of her vocals.

Major props lady for exposing young kids to Dokken who never heard their stuff before. Power ballad mastery at it's best. Sweet!

    4. southwest1

      southwest1

What I liked about the Karly C. cover is this: It puts the emphasis on the words "Without You" instead of "Alone Again" like a romantic breakup vs a nomadic like existence that Don's vocals evoke to me in that number. Also, it still works even without Lynch's guitar work.

"Now, the tears they fall like rain... Without you."

That's a very tender emotion pain & yet she makes that pain strong, visceral, & nothing to be ashamed of. Cool. Like a badge of honor & rite of passage experienced by us all no exception.

"The saddest thing in life is wasted talent, and the choices that you make will shape your life forever. But you can ask anybody from my neighborhood, and they'll just tell you this is just another Bronx tale."

I liked Van Hagar better than Van Halen myself. I just think Sammy brought better vocals and also his extra guitar to the group. His vocals pushed Eddies playing IMO.

I can't wait to "Feel Your Love Tonight" is 1 of my favorite under utilized or played tracks on the radio IMO. That & "Drop Dead Legs" RR7.

Diamond Dave always understood that rock & roll was all about female exploration & discovery. :P

He made no apologies for why he got in the music business. LOL!

"Drop dead legs, pretty smile, hurts my head, gets me wild.
Dig that steam, giant butt, makes me scream, I get nuh-nuh-nothing but the shakes over you
And nothing else could ever do.

      [Chorus:]

You know that you want it.
      I know what it is.
You know that you want it, baby,

When the night is through, will I still be loving you ?
Dig those moves, vam-pire set me loose, get it higher.

Throw my rope, loop-de-loop nice white teeth, Betty Boop.
      Set it cool real heavy.
      I ain't fooled, gettin' ready. "

This version is just on guitar, but it's strong & very tight meaning it's crisp quality. Oh yeah.
