      Great stuff as always RR7!

Speaking of ZZ Top's "Tush," I always liked Joan Jett's tribute...

Hailstorm's "Hunger Strike" is darn near as good as the original man.

"You know I love you; you know it's true" RR7 & I won't 'waste your precious time' LOL!

Speaking of the Canadian powerhouse that is RUSH, I was waiting to use this tremendous 'Closer To The Heart' cover for an upcoming movie review, but the number is so good, it literally can be played down or used more than once.

Jesus, I wish I was this talented, but alas, SW1 is not. Oh well, so be it. I've always had a solid ear though, which counts in the long run I suppose.

Speaking of BTO tributes, checkout this 'Taking Care Of Livestock' spoofing the classic "Taking Care Of Business" tune RR7. It's spectacular!

I think I just discovered a new genre called Farmers Rock. Just Kidding!

I ran out of likes. Nice Dr. Hook additions there BTW. Jackson Browne is still 1 of the best singer/songwriters around too.

I remember when I first heard "Love Song" by Tesla. It was of those rare moments that stopped me dead in my tracks & I said to myself this band will be around for 20 yrs at least. Darn, these guys are good & I'm been following this group closely ever since. It was a groundbreaking debut song that just told me these guys are legit & the real deal.

It's rare that any bands pulls me in so early & has maintained my loyalty for so long by Tesla is a rare breed of bands that knows how to deliver the goods in the studio & live. I love these guys & they never disappoint me either.

Yeah, I 'm in a Cranberries zone right now. Checkout this cover of "Dreams" by a woman named Madison Malone.

Proof that we rockers can embrace a softer side of our personalities once in awhile. It's very powerful. A good number for when a father hands off his baby girl at her wedding etc. etc.

I keep adding clips because when the mood hits me I can't help but "Linger" in a particular band's mindset.

I stumbled upon a You Tube person known as Inbar. Here's what I wrote today in the comment section of her channel:

A very majestic & soothing cover. Almost lullabyish in fact. That's a complement by the way not a criticism. Incredible job. The cello/bass violin gives this number a hypnotic, trance like quality. It's a travesty that this video doesn't have over a million views in my estimation. Simply a stunning rendition.

This cover is so naked meaning not flashy or overproduced. It's just slow & very tight meaning exceptionally well done. Don't believe me?

      See? I told ya.

  7. One of my favorite groups from the 90's...way underrated, imo.

  8. RIP Chris Cornell...one of the most iconic voices of the last 30 years.  This comes from "Temple of The Dog", the next one will as well.  This was a collaboration of Soundgarten and Green River (Early Pearl Jam) as a tribute to "Mother Love Bones" prodigy Andrew Wood...who overdosed.  Quite the irony.  Say hello to heaven Chris and for all those that think people have it made because they are famous...the psyche tells a different tale...

You know you have made it by the quality of covers amateur performers do in your honor...

Other then getting sued, this is the benchmark of becoming a household name.

    3. southwest1

      southwest1

I keep thinking of Chris's lyrics from his song "Shadow Of The Sun" in light of how he passed away.

Once upon a time I was of the mind
      To lay your burden down

And leave you where you stood
      And you believed I could
      You'd seen It done before
      I could read your thoughts
      Tell you what you saw
      And never say a word
      Now all that is gone
Over with and done - never to return

      [Chorus 1:]
And I can tell you why
      People die alone
      I can tell you I'm
      A shadow on the sun

      Staring at the loss
      Looking for a cause

      And never really sure
      Nothing but a hole
      To live without a soul
      And nothing to be learned

      [Chorus 2:]
And I can tell you why
      People go insane
      I can show you how
      You could do the same
      I can tell you why
      The end will never come
      I can tell you I'm
      A shadow on the sun

      Shapes of every size
      Move behind my eyes
      Doors inside my head
      Bolted from within
      Every drop of flame
      Lights a candle in

      Memory of the one
      Who lives inside my skin

      [Chorus 2:]
And I can tell you why
      People go insane
      I can show you how
      You could do the same
      I can tell you why
      The end will never come
      I can tell you I'm
      A shadow on the sun"

Chris was an exceptional writer, artist, & composer that's for sure. I just wish we would stop losing musicians of high caliber & sophistication though. Can't we lose some cookie cutter boy bands instead? I mean does anybody miss manufactured corporate; no name talent? Hades no.

Since going to concerts since mid 60.'s at 12 years old or so traveling around the country with friends & still going, just not traveling  , i have just so many favorite songs and so many various live versions of same heard , many times an unexpected top one from the past popped up & I'd cry & still have vivid memories of those times

I was watching a program on Direct TV saved on my DVR last night. The same live concert performing "Find Your Way Back" in it on channel 500 otherwise known as the audience channel. Anyway, the lead singer says something to the effect of 'We Built This City" is the worst song that everyone in the crowd always wants to hear on stage no matter what city they are playing in.

I kind of took offense to that remark since fans who buy tickets, merchandise, purchase cable & satellite subscriptions really enjoy certain numbers & our loyalty to a band & our willingness to open our wallets makes their lear jet, limo standard of living lifestyle possible. Never bite the hand that literally feeds you.

Look, I get it on some level. We Built This City is a simple non sophisticated song & it's hard to do a set list of mostly the same songs night after night in a new location for say a yr straight. You wanna know what the difference is headliner musicians have a career as opposed to a job they hate going to everyday just to pay bills & put food on the table. Most of us don't have the luxury of loving what we do as an occupation. That reality of a career vs a job is extremely rare among the masses.

I do respect musicians & comedians on this level though. They always confront stage fright & subject themselves to potential rejection, backlash, & humiliation every single time you walk out on stage. There's incredible bravery in being that vulnerable night after night. Plus, every once in awhile; true chemistry & magic is formed on stage between the audience & the musicians playing live. It can be the best or worst feeling in the world depending on the reaction & feedback you get. That's why I hold musicians & comedians in such high regard both amateur & professional.

    4. southwest1

      southwest1

Hey, since my previous entry above dealt with my admiration for comedians & their ability to lay it on the line symbolically naked before an audience; because no standup has any control over how their material will be received on any given night. I found this comedian named Tom Thakkar hilarious. He's a Hoosier State native. Pay particular attention to mark 3:20 on in the Conan O'Brien video.

I'm not condoning any statement prior to the football related discussion at all & I do apologize in advance for the minor curse word used moderators.

PS: To my NE friends like @GoPats, @Flying Elvis, & @Yehoodi etc. This routine is all in good fun as an AFC rivalry thing. Yes, I know INDY is having a down yr to be charitable. I know that & I have no personal animosity toward #12. Thanks for be cool, stand up guys fellas! :hat:

I'm glad you like the song 'Man I'll Never Be' my friend. I just revere bands that be vulnerable & show their softer side in a cut throat music business. It's hard for guys to display tenderness to the women they love or even acknowledge their stubbornness openly, but songs like this help us drop our tough persona & use this number as a way to express in notes what we struggle to articulate in words to the ladies we cherish in our lives even when we disappoint them more than we should.
