  1. There is nothing comparable in the two situations. The dolphins hated their coach. They are glad he is gone. The Colts players love Pagano. Things would only get worse. I could get behind letting chud take over the offense, but firing Pagano now won't make things better. And the dolphins have beat two bad teams. Let's see how their season plays out.

    Sometimes, popular bosses are ineffective.
  2. Colts ranked most dysfunctional team by Don Banks.

"Who you got at No. 1? Indianapolis (3-4), on the strength of its season-long behind-the-scenes melodrama featuring the dysfunctional triangle of lame-duck head coach Chuck Pagano, short-tempered general manager Ryan Grigson and unpredictable team owner Jim Irsay? We already know Pagano and Grigson butt heads, but now comes word that the GM and the owner had a “heated conversation’’ after the team’s most recent loss, in which the Colts fell behind 27-0 at home to the Saints on Sunday before rallying to make it a game."

  3. Not sure who has more to complain about.   Fans must admit that good/great QB's are not a dime a dozen, so it is tough when Houston has QB problems.

Not sure if the Houston problem is directly caused by the HC as I think it is with Indy.

I give Luck somewhat of a pass because the coaching staff needs to direct him on how to play the west coast offense as Hasselbach did.   With a poor OL, it needs to be 3 step drops and release.

I'm also disappointed at the use of Gore.   Gore does not fit in with the aging useless players I hear many Colts fans speaking of.    He's having a good year even though he is not being utilized much.   Only 9 carries yesterday, and he was still effective for 43 yards.    Would have been more if not for the holding penalties.

In my opinion, teams who have the most penalties week in and week out are poorly coached.

Certainly undisciplined players do not suggest excellent coaching. Yet Rex Ryan got another head coaching job immediately after getting canned by the Jets.

  4. I love the attitude of Colts fans. Through this Manning/Luck era, they have been conditioned to expect absolutely nothing from this defense. Perfection is expected from the QB and offense while the defense can be last in the league and still be praised. Hopefully, the next GM and coach can finally change that attitude.

Colts fans made excuses for Manning his entire tenure. This criticism of Luck is something new.

  5. I agree with 18 above.

SH you know what a fan I am, but I'm not an apologist, or a homer, or so many other adjectives people like to use when describing Peyton fans. I'm just a "fan" and have been for a long time.

Having said that, this season is bittersweet and frustrating to watch.

He finally has a killer Defense, and there is no question the D is why they're 6-0. Can you imagine Peyton in his Prime with this D?

To answer your question, I think the trouble is a combo of things. Sure Peyton shoulders some of the blame, but trying fit him into Kubiaks offense is like trying to put a square peg in a round hole. Peyton under center does not work, and the O line is terrible.

I see glimpses of greatness still, just when I am ready to join the ranks of those that say its time for him to walk away he'll do something great and there will be the glimpse of the HOF player we know, but glimpses are not enough to sustain. Something is going to have to give.

    :dunno:

The Colts could never afford this D after paying Manning and all his weapons on offense.

  6. My understanding is that they go over situations all week, and then when the situation presents itself, the ST coach can make the call. Other situations that show up on the field can be up to McAfee, like an onside or a fake punt/FG, depending on an alignment from the other team. That's how they explained the fake punt in the Cowboys game.

Pagano certainly didn't look like he was unaware of the call on the sideline, or else he would have called a timeout. Accountability goes to the top, so I get that.

But let's not blow this out of proportion, is all I'm saying. Whalen should not have snapped the ball, is what it comes down to. I feel like the 10 other players on the field knew that, and the coaches knew it also. Colt Anderson obviously wasn't expecting him to snap the ball.

If you have authority, and you choose to delegate this authority, you are responsible. Pagano is an *.

  7. Been listening to the Dakich show, Bob Kravitz was just on and confirmed this, he talked to Irsay at 3am after the game........and Irsay said pretty much said this. Said that this game was the measuring stick for the future.  At least according to Bob........

I'm surprised that Irsay was coherent at 3 AM.

  8. As I stated , if NE had possession and was wrestled away , I have no problem with the call. That did not happen. NE never had that ball. Here's what I would bet at least 10K on. The ref that awarded the ball to NE thought the player on the bottom that first touched the ball had recovered it. The replay showed 100% that he did not recover it . So if you see the player you thought recover the ball didn't... and then see the player that came out with the ball start to gather it in , you should reverse the call. Pretty obvious that the ball wasn't recovered by that O lineman. So why couldn't the official reviewing it ask the ref that awarded the ball to NE if that indeed is what he "thought" he saw. Pretty easy correction to right a brutal crappy call.

Every single NFL game in history, fans of both teams (especially the losing team) think they got shafted by the officials.  The truth is, it works out about equal.  Rarely are games decided by bad calls.  This was not even close to being the officlals fault the Colts lost.

  9. I don't know why you're missing the very simple fact that the play design wasn't intended to draw them offsides. The play design was intended to create an alignment advantage so that they could get the first down. And again, this isn't something that's new. It's a swinging gate fake, and it's been done thousands of times before.

Trying to get them to jump was just Plan B. In other words, 'if we don't get the alignment we need, then see if they'll jump offsides, but DON'T SNAP THE BALL.' I can't imagine any coaching staff not including that last part, and I'm pretty sure that Whalen just had a brain fart.

It's not my favorite play in the world, but it's not what you're making it out to be.

If the players lined up in an illegal formation, then the play was not well coached. It was a stupid play, not only because the team was ill prepared.

  10. I was actually just wise-cracking to your opium laced hash comment.   I figured Irsay would be the odds on favorite to have the stuff.

Better watch that.  We're not supposed to make sport of Jim's drug and alcohol problem.  Where would he get stuff like that anyway?

  11. Yeah its kind of a marshall law there.  Not many rules.  Dallas is the same way, they post whatever they wanted.  Then started talking about Brady's wife like Greg Hardy did and I said it was classless they banned me for trolling.  I wore that like a badge of honor.
