Sorry, but that's not the way it works. (Ugoh was a second rounder, and Pitcock was a 3rd rounder, by the way.)
When you trade a first round pick, you're giving up your fair shot at drafting a top notch player. Draft picks don't come with a guarantee, even in the first round, but your odds are greater. Not to mention that the more draft picks you have, the greater your chance is of adding a really good player to your team. So when you trade any pick for a player that performs as poorly as Richardson did, it's really not a good deal. When you trade your best pick, it's even worse.
The Richardson trade might not look as completely lopsided a year from now, but it will never look good from the Colts perspective.
Actually, the Colts traded the 2008 first round pick to move up and get Ugoh in the 2nd round of the 2007 draft.

I think any free agents that are brought in will be mid/low tier guys, I don't expect signing a Mack, Byrd, Hardy or Orakpo. I think any signings will be cap friendly ones. Maybe we can get Richie Incognito cheap ? I would like it !!
-
I say go for it !! another ILB/OLB that should be there in the 7th is Andrew Jackson from Western Kentucky. What do you guys think of a late round flyer on Khairi Fortt out of California(I'd prefer Boseko Lokombo late), He has an explosive first step, He is 6'2 240lbs, can play ILB/OLB, shows hip flexability(the 2nd trait I look for in a Linebacker) to turn and make a play on an elusive runner in space, He tackles well and brings a mean hit, Downside is he was not asked to drop back in Zone much http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=khairi+fortt+cal&sm=1

http://www.nationalfootballpost.com/How-NFL-free-agency-really-works-2784.html
I found this interesting. It's pretty obvious from how quickly deals get done that teams and agents don't actually wait for free agency before they start working on deals. He pretty much confirms it.
I assumed this is how it goes down, it also explains why some teams don't get a player they are after.

Running Backs
Storm Johnson-Central Florida
David Fluellen-Toledo-Love this kids fluid hips and quickness
De'Anthony Thomas (projected 6th-7th rounder by CBS Sports)
Jerome Smith-Syracuse (more of a power back)
Adam Muema-San Diego State-another kid with fluid hips, not much of a jump cutter
Vintavious Cooper-East Carolina, excellent speed, fluid hips
Waymon James-TCU
How about Shakir Bell from Indiana State ?

Orakpo would be awesome to have but I think the best way to help the pass rush would be to get better on the line !!

I just get a "gut" feeling that this years UDFA crop will have more talent than in recent years. Do you agree and what players might be worth taking a look at ???
-
Allen & Fleener will be the BEST TE duo next year & I dare any team to say otherwise
I agree !! and think of this...from using the draft simulator here in the draft forum, several times Troy Niklas fell to me with our first pick (2nd rd). I know we have other needs but what would you think of a Fleener, Allen and Niklas 3 TE set ??? I think defenses would be soiling themselves !!
-
Not to mention losing four starters on offense. Not too many teams could win a playoff game given that.
Some people are just plain negative. I don't need that so I ignore them.
I understand the frustration of not winning it all and needing to "vent" but wow, some of these comments just don't make any sense. I feel really good about the direction our team is headed !!!
-
Nonsense!
The guy expressed his opinion on Pagano which MANY of us here agree with and an entire other forum agrees with.
I think the coaching staff and FO have done really well so far !! back to back 11-5 seasons, a playoff win, sure they have room for improvement but keep in mind this was year 2 of a major overhaul, they are putting the pieces together the best they can, they never said it would become a super bowl team over night and to change coach's every year would only keep the team from "gelling". We have a good team going here in Indy, Be proud you support the shoe !!

Don't we also get a pick from Dallas for the Ceaser Rayford trade ???
-
nope !!!

We have to get the run game going. Someway, somehow, we need to run the ball at least 25 times.
COLTS win's:
Oak - 26 rush's 127 yard's
49rs - 40 - 184
Jax - 30 -157
Sea - 29 - 109
Den - 31 - 121
Hou - 14 - 69 (only win without 25 or more rush's)
Tenn - 32 -137
Tenn - 25 - 104
COLTS Loss :
Mia - 26 rush's - 133 yard's (only game with more than 25 rush's and lose, also had bogus call on Wayne wiping out a TD)
SD - 17 - 74
Rams - 14 - 18
AZ - 15 - 80
Cin - 12 - 63
I know it's hard to get the run game going when you spot the other team big lead's in the first half, but, they need to find a way to get it done.
-
The only other thing I can think of is that they both went to Purdue.Yeah, btw, Kory Sheets has absolutely no ties to Grigson.
Grigson was a scout for them in the late 90s and played in the league. That's it.

I say...To be the man you have to beat the man !!! broncos and seahawks should be below us, after all, if they are better than the Colts then they "should" have beat them.We don't deserve a #1 ranking. Inconsistent as farley said. Until we start beating the teams we "should" beat on a more consistent basis, I'd put us behind all the teams with better records.
1.Chiefs
2T. Saints, Broncos, Seahawks (in no particular order)
5. Colts
-
That would be funny if he tried !!! The media would love it.I wonder if Peyton will tell the crowd to be quite when he is on the field running the denver offense
-
He was on the street. Colts signed Xavier Nixon off the redskins PS. Was just on the same day.He wasn't on the streets he was on the Redskins PS before we plucked him off and he played really well for us.
