  1. Hoping the "you know what" factory can hold on and win this game. But, I have to say, last year the Cavs also struggled a ton to get by games like the ones they had vs. Detroit.

He always had great muscles on his arms and in great shape. Never did he have to bulk up and gain additional weight or anything like that.

Oh they ARE screwed in Boston. I am kinda lost though to how a team with Wade/Butler/Rondo is only the 8th seed?

I dug out this old December article from 538 to show you. They penned it down that the Bulls beat the best teams and lose to the worst ones.

      Quote

The Bulls’ puzzling, two-faced play stands out most when it happens in consecutive games, as it did earlier this month. The club beat the defending-champion Cavaliers the night before getting drilled by the Dallas Mavericks, who, along with the Wolves and Sixers, have the worst record in the NBA.

The showing wasn’t out of the ordinary. During the past five full seasons and what’s been played so far this year,1 the Bulls have had nine instances — more than any other club2 — in which they knocked off a team with a pre-game winning percentage of at least .600, only to then lose to an opponent with a .400 winning percentage or worse the next game, according to the Elias Sports Bureau. The Bulls narrowly escaped laying another egg by holding on to beat a lowly Miami unit this weekend after an impressive win over San Antonio.

This makes Chicago sound like the Chiefs....A team who often can beat up on great teams, but then get beat down by garbage like when K.C. lost to freaking Tampa Bay this past year, but swept the Raiders and also beat down Atlanta.

I think I heard the Bulls had issues gelling......due to some egos on the team and alpha males in general, it took a while and there was some weekly drama too.

In NBA height thats like considered midget at 5'9. IT is an elite scorer at times but he can have huge issues defending all the dudes over 6 feet tall. IT and Rondo have been going at it a lot too in this series and Rondo is actually 6'1 believe it or not.

Watching these games actually makes me remember the old days when Rondo was so good with the Celtics. The way he can dictate the game on the court, pass the ball and get all those assists. Rondo looks more muscular now too then his old days in Boston.

Believe it or not, Lonzo Ball is the same height as Kobe Bryant. He is just super skinny. But, I think you could take Lonzo and add weight on him and make him into an elite player......."maybe."

Oh yeah, you're right about height in the NBA. I think Allen Iverson was 5"9 or close to that, he was always known as being the "littlest guy in the league".

Teams that run their entire offense through a little guy tend to be doomed to fail. I don't watch the Celtics as closely as you do, but I know Allen Iverson had this exact same problem with the Sixers. They relied so heavily on him to do every single thing on the court, and it doomed them since he never had a real big man to help out. From what I've seen, the Celtics seem to think IT can do it all on his own. I think they messed up during free agency by not getting him a legitimate playmaker to help out, Paul George would've totally helped.

Rondo is playing in this series like the old Rondo from the past.

I've never been big on Rondo cause of his ego, but one of my favorite memories was seeing him in 2012 take Miami to 7 games. That Celtics team was practically exhausted and broken down, and Rondo played his butt off in that series. That was the series with the very questionable calls I think in Game 2 where Wade was all over Pierce and got fouled and shot free throws after putting his hands on him. Omg, Miami one game shot over 50 free throws, it was nuts.

Let's pray he has Kobe's work ethic or at least part of it. From watching how dedicated Kobe was even in his final season, I don't think we'll ever see someone that hardcore again. If Kobe Bryant were a guitar player, he would be one of those super hardcore type players, who practice religiously for 4-7 hours a day and are never late for band practice, and get REALLY mad when they have to deal with mediocre and lazy musicians that suck. lmao

Most Lakers fans want Ball cause of his passing, they feel would be a fit in the offense Luke wants to run. I think I sent you a clip some time back where the Lakers passed the ball 8 times in a span of 15 seconds before taking a shot.

  2. Hurricane Irma might be one of the scariest looking things I have ever seen. I almost am afraid to turn on the news at times. This thing never seems to die and has been a literal monster. Best wishes to anyone in the path coming up in and around Florida. But it does sound like all safety precautions are being taken ahead of time.

Also I am sad beyond belief at the poor Caribbean islands and how pummeled they got. They have little means to fix things. I have been to the island of St. Martin in the past a while back and it is completely devastated I read and seen right now. It's completely down and they are going insane there with so much isolation from the rest of the world and no clean water and electricity.. And those are some of the nicest people I had ever met before too in the past when I been there, it is called "the Happy Island". I don't know how they can recover from this. Those islands had to recover from Hurricane Luis that ruined them back in the mid 90's and finally did in the 2000's........and they thrive there on tourism to survive economically. Hurricane Luis was a category 4 and Irma hit them at a full force category 5 with winds beyond imaginable.

Just mind boggling. I can't get over this hurricane season. From Harvey to Irma to even Jose now lingering in the background as a category 4 but Jose is not expected to hit the States.

I just hope it all stops soon.

Yep, the IT thing is very confusing and very bad. There is literally zero timetable for his return and his hip "could" be shot without a long rehab after surgery if he ever has it. And the new GM there might have gotten fleeced bad by Ainge. I think the reason the trade held off so long is the new GM thought Ainge would panic and cough up a lot more and he didn't and just gave them another second round pick for 2020.

A 25 year old Kyrie Irving isn't looking so bad right now and people need to be patient since Brad Stevens has a lot of his game to now clean up big time. But Brad Stevens seems to be very into this move and up for the challenge of what Ainge is calling "greatness" with Kyrie Irving. So Kyrie has had his ego stroked big time too already by Boston. lmao

Begs the question though. Why didn't Cleveland void the trade over IT's health? Well IMO Dan Gilbert just wanted the Nets pick, simple as that........he is hurting Lebron yet again.

Boston did get the better deal since their staring PG is Kyrie and the backup is Marcus Smart who they were able to keep and is a very capable player.

Boston still needs more but if they don't win the east this year they know the core is young enough to keep moving forward.

I love Hasselbeck and he has saved us and hope he is okay. He is on the sideline now. But, we need our stud back.

  4. I am having a double wedding in May I joke to my fiance. To him and Brad Stevens. Kyrie been out for the last week and 3-0 and even using AL HORFORD at point guard and making it work? Just get out of here, I can't take it anymore!!!! This man makes stuff work when it looks impossible.

  5. I am late to the party with the new Star Wars. But, I did see it last night and I liked it an awful lot for pure entertainment purposes. I am rusty, so I might have to start watching some old Star Wars again to catch back up on it all.

  6. I changed my mind, giving the C's a shot now in the east. They made the Cavs look old as dirt tonight and Kyrie didn't even have a good game and spent most of the night deferring.

The IT angle will still be there but I am confident Stevens knows how to shut him down IF Isaiah can make it through the eastern playoffs healthy. I am amazed, holding the Cavs/Warriors to both 88 points this year is pretty difficult to do. And the Celtics missed a lot of shots tonight too.

Cavs are still easily the favorites but if somehow the C's can get Hayward back in some role by years end.......well then it gets real.

To be fair I did expect the C's to win tonight since they had a rest and the Cavs were on a back to back. But I didn't think it would be so easy.......

I am SHOCKED Boston won so easily without Kyrie having a good shooting night.O.o But for all those who said he was A BALL HOG. He isn't. His shots were not going in tonight so instead of forcing it he got everyone else involved. He didn't try to play hero ball vs. Cleveland when they were covering him so much in this game.

      Jules

I just don't know about this Cavs defense though, I mean they got torn the hell up even by Rozier tonight. lmao

And IT won't help them defensively.

I am a big big fan of defense. Hell the Pacers scored easier on the Celtics.........

Hope Kevin Love will be okay, he hurt his ankle. He gets hurt way too many times in Boston. But he was not playing well before the injury either, Horford was owning him. Big Love fan but he can be fragile.

Feel bad for IT too since he seems to genuinely still love Boston and the people. Sigh........he was even smiling when it was over.

  7. I forgive you now Kyrie. Now ball out for Boston and be a good boy for Brad Stevens in his system now mmmm okay?

    This is insane.

I guess Boston really did want to dump the smaller PG with the bad hip after all. I never saw this coming.

Regarding Lonzo, I think he will pan out despite Daddy being an A Hole lmao Regarding LeBron, Dan Gilbert is very lucky to have him. He doesn't win a Title without him much like Irsay wouldn't of won one without Peyton.

I agree Lonzo don't seem so bad lately and he loves Lebron apparently. I also think in my gut I know a pass first PG like Lonzo with the skill set he has would appeal big time to veterans like Lebron/Paul George.

Lonzo's passing is probably going to be what makes him effective in the long run cause his shot form needs a lot of work, but I've been thinking he probably can be a very effective player just by passing...I admit, I go hard on this kid cause the hype train is so annoying and his dad is the biggest jerk in all of sports right now. It seems like every other week, LaVar does something new that is disgusting.

Lonzo has done a good job though so far making HIMSELF likable since summer league...At this point, it really is his dad who makes everything sour. If the dad wasn't in the picture right now, things would be just fine...Lonzo has become so quiet this summer, but it's daddy Ball who is cussing out female referees, getting them thrown from games, going in the media and running his mouth, saying outrageous offensive things, etc.

You are probably right though, cause LeBron had that kind of passing going on in Miami and he was such a more relaxed player. That's really the main difference between Miami and Cleveland besides Miami playing MUCH better defense...Wade would pass the ball so much, and LeBron didn't have to focus all his time setting everyone up like he has to do with Cleveland.

Personally though, if I am in the Lakers camp, I wouldn't want to chase these aging stars. I think they should focus on their youth and building them up and keep drafting well...That's pretty much what Golden State did, that was a whole project with the drafting and spending years to develop their main stars. The Lakers do have some decent young talent. Ingram is going to be a beast in the next few years, and Zubac showed good signs last year and became a bit of a fan favorite.

I hope both of you are right in that he stays in Cleveland or that he SHOULD at least. Going to be an interesting year of basketball thats for sure!!!

Thanks for the input from both of you about all of this. I have to head to bed early tonight now.

Have a good night, Jules. I'm about to head off myself...105 on the heat index today. :woah: Is fall coming soon? Will be so happy when this brutal summer is over, it's too hot right now... I'm tired out tonight after seeing my doctor, it's too hot lately to be riding around for hours in a car that is having air conditioner problems.

    4. TheRustonRifle#7

      TheRustonRifle#7

This was the move Boston had to do....IT3 is damaged goods that can't man his position on defense. Irving isn't known for his defense but at almost 7 inches taller, almost 5 years younger, if you are going to break the bank on a player (Irving in two years and IT3 next year)....you make the move.

Crowder is a solid "Glue Guy" and Zizic may or may not be that piece in the middle?  Throw in the Net's pick, which I think will be higher than the Lakers' pick....just collateral damage.

Tatum was the #1 in this draft and Brown is a freak.....add Hayward and if ONLY Tito could move to the stretch....with either Tatum or Brown as the 6th man and Marcus 6A....Golden State would have competitiion.  The "5" is still a problem.

  9. I really enjoyed seeing Wonder Woman. I didn't have high expectations but it knocked my socks off. I really liked this new actress they chose too, she is stunning. Also I didn't know heading into it that this film would have such heavy WWI elements with a background story but I thought it was great. I am not a super action hero expert or junkie either so as a casual fan I loved the film!

I haven't seen Wonder Woman yet, but it does seem to have bridged that gap between widespread audience support in droves & critical acclaim by professional film reviewers. I'll see it eventually, but I gotta see War For The Planet Of The Apes first. I have a profound appreciation for actor Andy Serkis ever since his landmark portrayal of Gollum in the LOTR trilogy & now his moving depiction of the Primate Caesar.

Anyway, I'm glad to hear that both Jules & Bogie enjoyed Wonder Woman. You 2 have a knack for knowing quality material over over bloated trash so, I trust your judgement in the long run.

  10. I shockingly fit perfectly in my mom's wedding dress she wore marrying my dad in the 70's. So I am going to wear it for my own wedding in May. Just needs a few adjustments here and there and a professional cleaning since it has been in a box wrapped up for so long preserved. But I am almost the same exact size as my mom my whole life.

Needless to say me wearing her wedding dress has my folks an emotional mess. They are loving this.

But it sure saves me a load of having to go around looking for a NEW dress and spending extra money on it that we can use for something else. Although this dress cost a fortune in the 70's for prices then so it's me going retro. It's sort of a Grace Kelly style wedding dress.

Too bad she got rid of that dress, but then again everyone is different when it comes to saving things. My mom saved everything. I mean she preserved her dress forever wrapped up in some airtight bag and a box. And her mother, my grandmother died when I was in the 4th grade sadly. But my mom saved her mom's cream wedding outfit too and still has that preserved! But no my mom is not going to wear her mom's outfit. lmao We are not going that far.

Peter Gabriel had a lot of songs on Miami Vice. 'Rhythm of the Heat' and 'Biko' were in the episode Evan. But that record right there, 'So' was a monster hit album during the show's prime. Half of that entire album is all used in season 3 - Red Rain, Sledgehammer, Do What We're Told, Mercy Street, Big Time - all those songs are in season 3 in various episodes.

Lady Gaga isn't my cup of tea as an entertainer & her performance didn't exactly blow me away. Pop stars who can't pronounce words clearly on stage & hide behind dancers & firework displays bore me to death. She's not what I would listen to regularly. But, then again, I'm more of a Prince or ZZ Top classic rock n roll guy.

Her "Bad Romance" performance was solid, but I like Halestorm's cover of that number, so much better. That version has teeth.

  13. If anyone cares about figure skating....the ladies world championship finals/long program is tomorrow night in Boston . A break from basketball too. After the short program yesterday the long program really comes down to Americans vs. Russians. New Englands own Gracie Gold is currently in first place, after her in second and third are two Russian girls. In 4th is another American and in 5th is another Russian.

An American female has not won the world figure skating championship since 2006. So maybe if Gracie does indeed win this weekend then it's a good sign for the Colts as well lol.

If she becomes world champion this weekend it could help spark a revival in skating again like back in the old days when we had Kristi Yamaguchi everywhere. But, it's tougher these days......

She can also win as long as she don't fall on her butt since it's in America and the home crowd will be nice.

The Russians on this girls tails though.....eek watch out. Russians pull out a lot of tricks in long programs to get all fancy. It won't be easy......so don't take my word. I am still learning the new scoring since I stopped skating competitively several years ago.

If this girl don't win from America it's a darn shame since it's in Boston and she is from around there I think.

^^^I was right. That girl up above in blue won it all. So yes a Russian won it all. lmao

The American Gracie Gold choked and fell on her opening jump combination. Sigh. Poor girl. But, the two Russians ahead of her NAILED it.

That girl in blue might be the best female skater I ever seen in my life and I can say she deserves to be world champ. I am still having chills over this girl.

The other American I said had no shot rose up and won the silver. The girl who was in first fell to 4th.

BTW you aren't stupid, you know the refs will favor Lebron in the east again. lmao They were doing it yesterday too in the first half until the game got away from the Celtics.

      They want Lebron.

      2006Coltsbestever

The East is pretty wide open, it is much tougher to predict this season. If Toronto could grow a SACK they could even probably win the East. That team is pretty loaded with talent. The Celtics to me are still the best Defensive team in the East and best  Coached. Cavs got more athletic after the trade and still have LeBron so yes they are dangerous as usual. Teams like the Pacers and Bucks are intriguing, both teams have great chemistry and a Superstar to boot. I am now considering Oladipo a Superstar at this point and the Greek Freak definitely is.

    4. Jules

      Jules

C's will get better again defensively when Smart returns. Since without him, they seem to miss that spark plug. They are sewer trash lately.

Raptors IMO are the best east team on paper, best bench too. Great home crowd and they are hungry. Problem is......sigh, it's the Raptors. Even their fans are dumb aazzes from Canada.

I think every eastern team has dangerous aspects to them but I still got to say Lebron is the favorite until he is knocked off is all.  I mean......it's LEBRON. lmao

      Quote

They are great players, but I think they need to show more in the playoffs for a few years before I can put them in true superstar status. Same with the hyped up Sixers too.

Like I need signature moments and games too or something. But the playoffs are not all that matters. But it's why Kyle Lowry is a great all star player but is known for being a dud in the postseason.

I like Oladipo more than the Greek Freak. ESPN is in love with the Bucks, they kinda worry me since I fear they will get ref help in the postseason. Oladipo I think will prove himself in the postseason in the next few years win or lose since his numbers are usually great.

  15. It is time to finally go full steam ahead on the Jim Bob Cooter bandwagon to win the Super Bowl. Our teams are pretty much done, so it's Jim Bob Cooter or bust.

Jim Bob Cooter deserves a ring.

I hope the Lions can go farther in the playoffs then people might be expecting, since the NFC does seem "open" this year. Would be cool to have the Lions and Jim Bob Cooter give us a run to watch. I don't even trust Seattle anymore or the Cowboys who can't function against the Giants. So why not the Lions?

Or even the Packers. I hear also Rodgers is up again for the MVP.......yes they might give it to Aaron if the Pack win out too since the league is in love with him.  People are so in love with Rodgers that when the Packers had the losing streak they came up with theories as to why baby Aaron was upset; like he has not spoken to family or McDonalds refused him a toy.

Rodgers is the golden boy like Manning used to be. It amazes me when he struggles, all the excuses GB gets, but Brees will put up far better stats, still lose, and people will say that the Saints need to trade him.

If Rodgers get another MVP, that's just ridiculous since GB did nothing when it counted. This streak their on is probably too late, cause they have 3 teams ahead of them who can win out and make the playoffs - Giants, Washington, and Tampa Bay.

      Quote

I think personally Stafford deserves it, since he is having a Peyton Manning "in his prime" like year with all these game winning drives and stuff. If the Lions were the Colts with Manning, Stafford would get it. And he is clearly VALUABLE to his team. How the Lions have won games this year is almost exactly how so many Colts teams with Peyton would win. Jim Caldwell is probably going nuts on this.

Matt Ryan might get it too (sorry) but at the same time it depends on how they finish the year and losing to the Chiefs/Seahawks might hurt his credibility.

Matt Ryan shouldn't even be in MVP conversation cause the reason his stats look so good is because he has the best receiver in the league with Julio Jones.

I want Stafford to get MVP, I really do. And he's doing it all without Calvin Johnson which no one is talking about. The Lions offense seems to be better without Johnson, cause now they're opened up more and can spread the ball around.

      Quote

The argument against Brady though will be he missed the first 4 games and they went 3-1 without him. It all depends I think too on how good Brady does in Denver this weekend since he often has been crap there.

The best thing this year is if Denver misses the playoffs....Hate that team so much, they're so freaking dirty and LUCKY. All those lucky wins last year and this year again. I hope New England does beat them cause I'm so sick of them.

      Quote

Of course we both know deep down that Russia is going to hack the MVP voting anyway so why bother? (sorry I had to. lmao )

And Putin is literally a James Bond villain that can do something like that, and something I heard yesterday, Russia rigged it YEARS in advance!!! So if Matt Ryan does get the MVP, this is something that was planned years ago lmao

If Denver can beat NE this weekend they may still be able to get in I think and it would hurt Brady for MVP chances big time. I favor NE to win, but not a big win. I can't recall the Pats with Brady EVER playing well in Denver, like ever. The only time was when Denver had Tebow.

It's another weak year for MVP. I hate to tell you this but they could give MVP to Ryan and offensive player of the year to Julio Jones. It's what they did with Brady/Moss in 2007.

I would give it to Stafford, and I think he can only win it if the Lions do win the NFC North. If they fall to a WC spot he won't get it IMO.

It's all about winning the division.

I bet though so hard they will try to give it to Rodgers and get them in the playoffs. lmao

  16. Just on for a few minutes but I wanted to say I caught the mouse!!!!!!! Little jerk waited till I went to bed and then climbed into a trap for that delicious peanut butter and died. I heard the snap sound from a few rooms away. So it's over and done with. The pesky domestic terrorist that was in my home is now obsolete and his remains lie in the trash outside.

Peanut butter traps definitely work! I've used them before, put them on the glue traps and they'll get stuck on them. I never tried a snapping mouse trap, always afraid that I would accidentally injure myself with it.

My old cat Spot would've killed it for you. lmao But at the cost of a very gruesome scene that could be disgusting to clean up.

Male cats raised around other cats rarely ever become hunter/killer types, but the females do. Hate to say it, but most male cats literally are useless for situations like that (unless it's a male cat like Spot who was raised around dogs and thought he was one of them).Female cats tend to be more effective at killing stuff for some reason.

I use the old fashioned types that snap shut (and yes it takes practice with those since they can snap so fast) or the new kinds that they walk in and it spins shut and I think it smashes their heads that way inside and then you never see it dead but then it says "caught" on it.

Wait, no Weird Al "Smells Like Teen Spirit" spoof with marbles in Kurt Cobain's mouth?

I love that part because it always reminded of Tom Brokaw on NBC Nightly News since to me, both Kurt & Tom always sounded like they had marbles in the mouth during the grunge era & during TV broadcasts before CNN & news 24/7 changed journalism forever.

Okay, my bad. You posted Weird Al RR7. Nicely done. Pearl Jam has marble vocal problems too. LOL!

  21. Kyrie Irving definitely proving he CAN be a leader of a team. Tonight, 10th win in a row. No Hayward, No Al Horford tonight, only a little Jayson Tatum and no problem.

Okay some problems LOL. That was a messy win and game but still a win is a win. Lakers also btw have a top defense this year too and good young players.

And for those who hate Lonzo Ball and yes I do too at times since it's fun, Celtics Marcus Morris has a few words about this:

    http://www.masslive.com/celtics/index.ssf/2017/11/marcus_morris_is_rooting_for_l.html

    Quote

"I told Lonzo at the end of the game, now I'm kind of rooting him on," Morris said. "Because he's a good kid. It's just his dad, like, his dad has a big mouth. I mean, everybody knows it. It's not a bad thing. If I had my dad, I wish he would be like that, too. Because it's always, like, if anybody loves you, it's going to be your father and he's always going to show tough love. So he's pretty good. His dad might think he's better -- which he should."

"He has a long time in the league, he's a young guy, it kind of sucks he has to go everywhere and they're just booing him and booing him and booing him," Morris continued. "He's a regular player like the rest of us. I think it's more of the Celtics and the Lakers relationship. Hopefully that doesn't happen everywhere, but if it does, man, I guess he should just talk to his father."

Yeah the crowd tonight in Boston was brutal to Lonzo but then again it was always brutal to Kobe too. It's part of the rivalry so he should take it as a compliment and thrive on it.

That's where they went with a more darker approach and it become their formula for the future, that album changed them forever. Before '85, they were pretty much a pure new wave band with lots and lots of bright synths and their most poppy sounding tunes (Just Can't Get Enough, See You)

  24. Lebron continues his journey of domination soon vs. a team that everyone says is geared up with "Lebron stoppers." Can Lebron continue to soar and slay all the so called "Lebron stoppers?" Stay tuned. Can anyone realistically in the world even stop let alone slow down Lebron James?

Looks like before Kobe owned Iverson though, the Lakers did have one game where AI went off against him I saw looking some things up. But, Kobe did say Iverson helped him become a better defensive player early in this video, just the very beginning is Kobe speaking.

Judging by the footage, that was before Phil Jackson showed up (I can tell by the throwback jerseys. They changed their uniforms the year Phil got there). It was Phil's idea to lock Kobe on Iverson when they played the Sixers going into that Finals and the infamous game where Kobe held him to 0 points in the second half.

Oh, you can believe the haters already have excuses ready to go.....

First off, they'll claim it's "rigged". You can bank on that one. LeBron haters always claim it's rigged when he beats whatever team they root for.

I'm really not scared of Durant. I've noticed for years that LeBron basically owns him when they play. Durant is also a pretty lazy defender at times. Just pull up the OKC/Miami Finals and see that. Everyone ripped Russell Westbrook for that series, but Durant was just as guilty of poor defense. Durant and Westbrook deserved each other, cause they had the same weaknesses - crappy defense, ball hog moments, and big turnover problems.

GSW even plays better without Durant. It's when they don't have Steph or Klay or even Draymond Green that they look off. Durant is just a luxury piece who went there cause he's a coward about facing them again in the playoffs. This team went on a 14-0 run without Durant. That says it all, they don't need him.
