  1. NBA finals chat!

The old one got so long it needs it's own zip code now. Starting a new one for the finals only.

So far a tough game one for the Cavs on the road.

Bogut was a loss.......it truly was actually.

It's why I often say injuries can be everything and who knows who gets hurt next year.

OT but OT before I head to bed.

Kevin Love btw is the nephew of Brian Love of the Beach Boys. lmao

      That is so cool.

You heard it here first, Cavs will not only Repeat, they will 3-Peat. How's that for a bold prediction. The writing is on the wall. Everyone that rooted for the Cavs this season will get at least 2 more so enjoy the NBA sucking for the next 2 years because nobody will come close to beating the Cavs. This isn't a 1 and done deal unless the team breaks up. If it was a 1 and done deal than I would've really rooted for the Cavs hard. LeBron ends up with 5 Championships just like Magic and Kobe but at that point most will say he's the best ever, even over Jordan. I have watched this sport for nearly 40 years and if they keep their same team together I will guarantee a Repeat at worse. LeBron is still in his prime, and has capabilities like Jordan and Magic. Kyrie and Love both are young. The only way they wont win it again is if Durant goes to the Warriors or Spurs.

  2. NBA playoffs, nothing but NBA playoffs!

Okay the old thread got too long so I started a new one.

I see the Heat pulled it out last night.

My official Miami Heat song. "Feeeeel the Heat."

And yes I know.......the Warriors are all the rage again. Sigh.......

Hope your B-Day is a great one Jules. Are you going to go out or throw a party? Yeah I am chatty at night being a night person and Bogie is probably the only person on earth that can match my sports history knowledge (sarcasm) so I enjoy these chats.

My message was kinda short tonight but I will finish it tomorrow. Time to get some sleep. I am shocked still.

Minnie pics were the best part of tonight!

And I am glad the Saints won and Brees deserves to have a trip to the playoffs this year.

      Hey Jules,

That cat picture of yours would make a perfect mascot. I'm surprised that stadium security allowed a Super Dome fan to walk in with that.

Drew Brees had a monster game yesterday. Wow!

  4. Are you ready for the big battle again?

Historical underdogs take the stage soon.

Of course I have to post this again:

And whoever did paint what was painted on Lebron's house in L.A........I won't even say what I would do to that person or persons on this forum openly. Absolutely disgusting to do that to a good man like Lebron James. I think Lebron was shook up today and saddened and I think the team around him is going to rise up and now fight even harder for their leader.

Steve Kerr may return for game 2 I seen. Oh good...........

Seriously just get nasty Cavs. I mean for real, throw punches even and get ejected I don't care. Start getting crazy dirty on those clowns. Since in a way you got to get this jolt of mean going on since this Cavs team is TOO DAMN NICE. I love the Cavs to death but they are like choir boys at times with charity work and being angels and helping old ladies cross the street.

      Nice guys finish last.:(

See Kobe was a mean dude once too, he used to get after people. I want to see Kyrie get MEAN. Just aggressive. One thing he don't have is Kobe's aggressive "I want to win and kill you" mentality.

I don't know but whenever the Cavs lose I swear I feel like I ramble about them being soft.

Ugh I love Kobe but my God was he a frustrating player. When he was good he was very good but when he was bad you wanted to die. And he also btw when bad would keep taking shots all the time. Kyrie isn't a ball hog though.

But tonight the Cavs had loads of Kobe's on a bad shooting night chucking up shots that didn't go in. I was starting to have flashbacks..........it sorta looked to me like the Lakers vs. the Celtics in 2008 even.

Soooooo true. When he was off, he just wouldn't stop. That's where Kobe would frustrate me the most. The only time in his career he actually wasn't a ball hog, was the height of the Shaq era.

Kobe would do that though; keep missing and keep taking so many shots. It would make you want to punch the TV at times. I used to get REALLY mad cause he would do this when Odom was playing well. You mention the 2008 Boston series and I keep thinking back to that and I remember Odom and Gasol were playing really well and Kobe just refused to pass the ball to them at times, it was so frustrating. I swear there was one game in that series where Kobe was just BAD and those guys were playing great and he just screwed it all up by refusing to get them involved.

Probably why I cherish the Shaq years so much, those years, he actually would pass the ball and let Shaq do what he did best, and that was dominate and slam home those violent dunks.

It actually disturbs me since Kobe retired, there is this big mythology about him being the greatest scorer ever and the one about how he "carried Shaq" omg, that makes me want to punch holes in walls. That is so damn wrong...Shaq got all 3 Finals MVP's in those championships...Kobe had some memorable games in those Finals, but take Shaq off those teams, they would have never got there...Kobe's fans make Shaq sound like a scrub when they talk trash about him, it's sickening...Kobe didn't even get the last 2 rings, until they got him another awesome center (Pau Gasol) to help out.

I read tons of Cavs stuff on Kevin Love and they need to get off his aazzz at times. I mean do they even realize what position he plays?

Cavs fans treat Kevin Love like he is Bosh with the Heat.

But they seem to forget, Bosh wasn't an elite scorer...Bosh's job was to get rebounds, steals, and mostly, just play all around good defense.

Remember how everyone used to say Bosh was the overrated one of the big 3? Everyone acted like he was supposed to score gobs of points, but he never did. Occasionally he would get a big 3 pointer like Love does, but Bosh's sole job was defense. Bosh wasn't overrated, people just didn't analyze him as a defensive player.

I think Cavs fans are way too hard on Kevin Love. For the Bosh role, he does it good...he's not supposed to score tons.

Imaging though if Kevin Love could've went to Miami to replace Bosh, that would have been crazy...the Heat wouldn't have skipped a beat after losing Bosh.

Cavs fans are giving Love more credit today, apparently the stats and heavy analysis say he won the matchup vs. Draymond despite being pushed, shoved, bitten, doused with gasoline, threatened with death and jersey pulled.

The thing is, yes Love can score more points too as the series goes on but he is the only one at times who seems to be able to rebound vs. the Warriors. When Curry is getting rebounds? You got an issue.

Which brings up an excellent point someone made on their forums, why not move Love to center if TT continues to struggle? Apparently and I missed this.........Love was at center most of the time in game 7 last year out of desperation. If Love is at center he can score more too since you cannot expect him to always hit those damn 3's. I know everyone wants him to rain 3's but this isn't Boston where their big men were crap and you could kinda just dance around at the perimeter in high heels. The Cavs need something going in the paint. Lebron or Love and better yet both.........has to happen.......INSIDE.

And you could COULD move Tristan Thompson to PF and have HIM chase after Durant the whole game if he can keep up, which would free up Lebron to beast out more on offense Since Lebron will get tired if he is forced to guard Durant for too many minutes. Someone else I feel has to split time with guarding Durant. If TT won't score much then he could be used in another role to give Lebron more freedom.

AND then...........you could also even take useless JR Smith and move him to guard Curry, which sounds scary but hey it can't hurt since it would make it easier on Kyrie so he could just deal with a slumping Klay Thompson and score more maybe.

And then you got to pray that someone shows up from the bench. Anyone.......

Now none of this may happen but who knows. I could see Love going to center in this series eventually though since it has happened before. They say TT will rebound in game 2 maybe, but he has a tough time vs. the Warriors a lot for some reason.

JR Smith to me is the glaring weakness from game 1. I mean he is a guard.......and he was literally useless. You expect A GUARD to score a lot more then 3 damn points. If you took Wade and replaced JR Smith with Wade, then the Cavs then instantly are a much better team with 25 extra points. I know JR Smith loves Lebron James and loves Ohio, but seriously........they got to find a better role for him at times since he was crap in game 1. So if he can't score worth a damn then make him play heavy D and free up Lebron or Kyrie.

Just some thoughts since they clearly have to work something out. They claim focus for game 2 is to be more psychical to try and disrupt the Warriors offense. Which sounds good but that could also mean a ton more foul trouble. Then again maybe you just got to get in foul trouble and risk it.

Most Cavs fans claim game 1 in the finals for Lebron is often "the feel out game" to see what is going on so I will try to ride this optimism and hope they are not behind 20 in the third quarter and it's raining 3's on them.

Simply put, to beat TEAM USA you got to make some adjustments......like now.

To be fair to Kyrie, he can't ball hog like Kobe did since if he did Lebron would throw him on the highway. What Lebron tries to do at times IMO is find another guy on the team who is "hot" that night or "feeling it". And sadly it wasn't happening in game 1.

I am not completely giving up yet on this series btw. I am nuts and so be it. I won't go down easy. If they lose the series easy they lose it but I still hope they can make the Warriors have to go the distance to 6 or 7 if need be. I mean if the series can somehow SOMEHOW go longer then most expect, then the Warriors will wear down a bit and get frustrated. At the very least TRY to make them earn the title. And if you can get it to go longer, the longer a big underdog hangs around the tougher the favorite has it to win.

Also, Kevin Durant often slows down as a series goes on. He had his big hot "I AM HERE IN THE FINALS OMG LOOK AT ME I AM SO AWESOME AND IN THE FINALS MOM" night. That crap better end or else it will be a short series.

Also yeah in the 2008 finals, yeah Kobe went into ball hog mode at times. And if you ask me that series was honestly winnable for the Lakers if they had gotten other guys going on offense more. Since Kobe as good as he often was, he would go into pain in the aazzz mode.

Paul Pierce said once that Kobe had the mentality of a basketball serial killer as in "He never stops." I think what PP means is you think Kobe may pass it around if he is missing shots but no he keeps going.........and going...........and going.........and then going...........

I still maintain though that nobody was beating Boston that year. It was their time. Problem is they still deserved another ring IMO since it is a shame KG only got one. Just glad he got that one though at least. So I am glad now looking back they won.

I definitely think the Colts Offense was better because they did have Peyton but their Offense reminds me of that somewhat. Ryan is Very Good but I agree not Great or near a Brees or Peyton all-time. Brees like Peyton will be 1st ballot HOFamers. Mike Tomlin has won a SB so I cant bash him to much but he isn't anymore than a Good Coach at best. Regarding Jason Garrett, I don't think he is any better than Pagano. He is just Jerry's yes man and always blows it in the Playoffs.

Mike Tomlin won a Super Bowl with Bill Cowher's team....That defense in 2008 was the healthiest they ever were, but it was still the 2004-2005 defense that Cowher designed...All Tomlin did was get them some good receivers like Holmes and Sanders; but the Pittsburgh offense was still mediocre in 2008, so it wasn't like he did much. Anyone could've won that SB with that healthy defense.

Brees has a ring with a B-C grade receiving core. The 2009 team was led by Colston, Moore, Meachem, and Devery Henderson. Names that no one knows of except Saints fans. Colston is the only receiver in NFL history to post 1,000 yard seasons consistently and never make the pro bowl. Brees has made it work most of the time with non-big name guys.

Ryan didn't get great until he had Julio Jones...Take away his great receivers, he's an average QB. They had Roddy White and Tony Gonzalez years ago and still couldn't ever win a playoff game.

You know what's hilarious? This Falcons team isn't even as good as their other Super Bowl team. No one gives credit to the 1998 Vikings cause purple tears are cried over the choke fest Vikings for missing that field goal. Even though Randy Moss dropped big passes, and even in OT, they turned the ball over. Not entirely the kicker's fault. But that Falcons team from 1998 was 14-2 and had a top ranked defense and secondary....They were the team to knock Minnesota out, and they were so much better than this team. They actually had a great defense that year.

They are easier to watch and follow on game center on NFL.com where they should just type "Saints just gave up BIG AZZZ play.......".

That is precisely accurate how I feel. Saints games have become so EXHAUSTING...Gone are the days that we were a "fun team" to watch. The fun days were when Brees could go all Dan Marino out there with big numbers and we actually win games, and not be stuck watching them lose in bad ways.

I can't get over looking at Brees numbers to this game and the fact we lost so bad. Even though he had a pick, I do not want to harshly criticize him here, cause he did show up and try to win.

I'm a big believer in embracing a sports fandom to a team that helped you achieve a championship. I don't see why he should have cared at all for everyone else's thought, when he had the loyal fans of Miami there to support him and embrace him. LeBron could have took the high road by staying there at Miami, since they helped him get championships that Cleveland did not.

    3. Jules

      Jules

I think it ate at Lebron inside the whole time to be honest since he always said he would deliver the Cavs a title before he was done there. He grew up near Cleveland too so I do think it always haunted him deep down.

True and he did get the help in Miami and he did get two rings. But, I think he always felt guilty.....I think guilt eats at people inside in many ways in life. It would have been easier if going to Miami wasn't such a spectacle to begin with.

I am just curious to see if the Cavs with Lebron can ever win it all since they have been in the finals enough now.

I wish I was higher on the Cards but something burst with them IMO. That was a tough loss they had in the playoffs to the Panthers, very revealing. Also they might have should have lost to the Packers too. I don't trust Palmer as well. Now I HOPE the Cards do well since I do like them a lot.

I have my eye on GB and the Seahawks are turning into the Patriots of the NFC.

The Saints will depend on defense, they can't get much worse there. On offense I think they started to roll nearing the end of last season. And I do think Payton will get more out of Fleener then we did.

The NFC in recent years has been a bit of a revolving door outside the Packers and Seahawks always making it in. I might not picking the Panthers but it depends on how I feel later this offseason. I am torn on the Broncos too since I don't even completely trust Kansas City. Both SB teams are up in the air for me right now.

For the Colts if we win the division again it will be brutal since we may have to face and likely will the Pats and Steelers. Ouch....

    3. 2006Coltsbestever

      2006Coltsbestever

I always give GB a chance because they have Rodgers but their Defense isn't a SB winning type Defense, maybe they will improve it through the Draft and the rest of the off season? If they do they are definitely a threat to challenge anyone.

    4. Jules

      Jules

Syracuse making the final 4 is pretty exciting, didn't see this coming. Here is the darkhorse we have been looking for!

GB does have that trash defense I agree but I did like how they looked in the playoffs, they had an excellent shot to knock out Arizona too. And Rodgers when he takes more risks and stops worrying about interceptions can play better then anyone in football. He was playing better in the final weeks of the year IMO. Rodgers needs to always let loose more and let it rip.

Brees isn't the problem nor is Luck with us IMO. Both of our Defenses are just bad, cant stop anyone. Glad you guys beat the Seahawks last week, Saints haven't played all that bad this season, like the Colts they have lost a couple of real close games they should've won.

    3. Synthetic

Oh god, it felt so wonderful to beat Seattle. I hate that team with a passion. And to know that Sherman ran off to blame the refs and make a big deal about it, THAT was the icing on the cake for me. Especially after everyone knows he should've been flagged for putting his hands all over Julio Jones a few weeks ago.

No team gets away with push offs and shoves on receivers more than Seattle. That team for the past 3 years, has gotten away with playing dirty more than any other NFC team. To beat them at their own game, and listen to them whine about it, that was solid gold.

So much irony of Seattle blaming refs, when they win at least 1 game every year at home with some very controversial stuff in it. This year it was the Atlanta game, last year it was Detroit. And no one is ever going to forget the Green Bay game with the hail mary- interception.

Sadly Seattle won't go away, but I hope that team never wins another SB ever again.

They allowed the Saints to score on 6 consecutive drives. Last time that happened, was in 2011.

Weather they are the #1 ranked defense or not, I don't see where they are bullet proof or they wouldn't have allowed the 6 consecutive scoring drives...and for them to blame the refs, they are sooooo lucky that 4 of those drives resulted in field goals. That could've been a blow out game.

  11. Saints are so crappy, can they just win A GAME? OMG......just a lousy stinking game. Win one.

Then again we suck too and threw to "stone hands" on 4th and 1. lmao

I dug out this old December article from 538 to show you. They penned it down that the Bulls beat the best teams and lose to the worst ones.

      https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/why-the-bulls-beat-the-best-teams-and-then-lose-to-the-worst-ones/

      Quote

The Bulls’ puzzling, two-faced play stands out most when it happens in consecutive games, as it did earlier this month. The club beat the defending-champion Cavaliers the night before getting drilled by the Dallas Mavericks, who, along with the Wolves and Sixers, have the worst record in the NBA.

The showing wasn’t out of the ordinary. During the past five full seasons and what’s been played so far this year,1 the Bulls have had nine instances — more than any other club2 — in which they knocked off a team with a pre-game winning percentage of at least .600, only to then lose to an opponent with a .400 winning percentage or worse the next game, according to the Elias Sports Bureau. The Bulls narrowly escaped laying another egg by holding on to beat a lowly Miami unit this weekend after an impressive win over San Antonio.

This makes Chicago sound like the Chiefs....A team who often can beat up on great teams, but then get beat down by garbage like when K.C. lost to freaking Tampa Bay this past year, but swept the Raiders and also beat down Atlanta.

I think I heard the Bulls had issues gelling......due to some egos on the team and alpha males in general, it took a while and there was some weekly drama too.

      Quote

Well, 5"9 is much taller than me lmao

In NBA height thats like considered midget at 5'9. IT is an elite scorer at times but he can have huge issues defending all the dudes over 6 feet tall. IT and Rondo have been going at it a lot too in this series and Rondo is actually 6'1 believe it or not.

Watching these games actually makes me remember the old days when Rondo was so good with the Celtics. The way he can dictate the game on the court, pass the ball and get all those assists. Rondo looks more muscular now too then his old days in Boston.

Believe it or not, Lonzo Ball is the same height as Kobe Bryant. He is just super skinny. But, I think you could take Lonzo and add weight on him and make him into an elite player......."maybe."

Oh yeah, you're right about height in the NBA. I think Allen Iverson was 5"9 or close to that, he was always known as being the "littlest guy in the league".

Teams that run their entire offense through a little guy tend to be doomed to fail. I don't watch the Celtics as closely as you do, but I know Allen Iverson had this exact same problem with the Sixers. They relied so heavily on him to do every single thing on the court, and it doomed them since he never had a real big man to help out. From what I've seen, the Celtics seem to think IT can do it all on his own. I think they messed up during free agency by not getting him a legitimate playmaker to help out, Paul George would've totally helped.

      Quote

Rondo is playing in this series like the old Rondo from the past.

I've never been big on Rondo cause of his ego, but one of my favorite memories was seeing him in 2012 take Miami to 7 games. That Celtics team was practically exhausted and broken down, and Rondo played his butt off in that series. That was the series with the very questionable calls I think in Game 2 where Wade was all over Pierce and got fouled and shot free throws after putting his hands on him. Omg, Miami one game shot over 50 free throws, it was nuts.

Let's pray he has Kobe's work ethic or at least part of it. From watching how dedicated Kobe was even in his final season, I don't think we'll ever see someone that hardcore again. If Kobe Bryant were a guitar player, he would be one of those super hardcore type players, who practice religiously for 4-7 hours a day and are never late for band practice, and get REALLY mad when they have to deal with mediocre and lazy musicians that suck. lmao

Most Lakers fans want Ball cause of his passing, they feel would be a fit in the offense Luke wants to run. I think I sent you a clip some time back where the Lakers passed the ball 8 times in a span of 15 seconds before taking a shot.

  17. This won't be a popular opinion I am about to share among my fanbase but I am going to anyway. I don't think Tom Brady deserves to be suspended 4 games. I think at this point too with the incident happening last January that it's becoming a witch hunt at this point and a bit tiring. I wish the whole thing would just have DIED last season.....I didn't even want to hear about deflate gate again. Frankly I can find it embarrassing since we got CREAMED in that game.

The Patriots lost a first round draft pick and got fined.  I am not sure at this point in time Brady needs to be dragged through the mud either since as much as some hate the Pats and Brady lets face it......it's more fun when he plays the game. It's more fun when all of these stars are on the field. I was looking forward to seeing the Pats play in Arizona week 1 and that battle. Now if Brady isn't there it loses it's appeal to me.

And lets be real, it was deflated balls and even Rodgers admitted he likes MORE air in the balls. I get they broke a rule but lets relax at times here. Nobody killed anyone, raped anyone or hurt anyone that badly. I am sorta embarrassed this is still being talked about when we got our butts kicked in the AFC title game.

And thats about all I got for now on this topic. I am not mad or upset over anything but I was hoping this deflate thing would just go away forever. And I am sure Brady will fight this and it's another battle in the media.

I put this here instead of in the threads on the forum since I don't want to be targeted as being as a closet Pats supporter. I am just saying I am tired of this topic and wish it wasn't even still around.

There is actually a vocal minority of Saints fans rooting for Atlanta tomorrow just cause they're 100% convinced that in the Super Bowl New England will stomp the crap out of them. To them, seeing the Falcons get beat down in the SB will be their Christmas presents under the tree like last year when Carolina got stomped.

I don't want the Falcons in the SB at all. I can't stand them. I'm glad Kyle Shanahan is leaving them though. He's turned Matt Ryan into a killing machine as an offensive coordinator. I'll gladly accept the future if they can regress back into the diet coke wannabe Saints.

Anyway thanks for the shoutout regarding my Rams prediction, much appreciated. Have a nice sleep, chat with you tomorrow.

You're making this a little too personal I'm afraid...

You think you're 100% right, you clearly said it...You could be wrong. It happens. I'm wrong about stuff all the time. If you want to laugh, I picked the Dolphins in an upset win and they stunk it up down 24-0 early. I also had Oakland over Atlanta, and lost that one too (And now I have to be scared of Julio Jones vs my crappy team's defense for next week). I think a LOT of folks right now are feeling the blues over being high on Jacksonville during the summer. It happens. We can't always be right. Sometimes you hit, sometimes you miss.

BTW, you said it yourself that Irsay needs to look into another GM. Here's your quote just to remind you. You backtracked on this, the minute I criticized contract.

      Quote

@Jules, Irsay may want to go out and look for a new Coach or GM. When we lost to the Lions that screwed us because today's game made it a must win. We played our hearts out but their Defense is just nasty. We had chances to win even that is what is frustrating!

If you want to defend the contract, I don't care. That's your opinion and that's cool. I seen this before though with Brees and seen it with Flacco in Baltimore, and the contracts did kill those teams and this makes matters even worse being Grigson has done nothing to build a competitive team. It's well known the problems this team has, that they can't protect Luck. If I were a Colts fan, I would be scared to hell and back right now after I seen footage of yesterday's game. They have done nothing to build an offensive line to protect him. All that money to a QB, and he's taking beatings like that, I hope he don't get injured again and yesterday's footage was scary enough. Luck went through hell last year with injuries, I would hate to see it happen again.

When a team is losing, they're open to criticism. I'll use my team as an example; Saints fans do not like you to criticize Payton and Loomis. But, we've finished 7-9 the past two years, have an aging Hall of Fame quarterback approaching his twilight years and still performing at a great level, yet we're 0-2 and back on the road to finishing 7-9 again. They deserve the criticism right now cause we are a losing franchise, and it's a shame that we're wasting away Brees' last years while he's still putting up great performances.

Don't get mad at me for saying this team is horribly run. My opinion shouldn't bother you, as I don't get paid for it. If you check around other NFL fan bases, I can assure you that non-Colts fans don't really look too positively on how this organization is run (and to be fair on this, same for my Saints, a lot of non-Saints fans don't look positively at Loomis and Payton). When that contract happened, I knew it would be a problem. A lot of fans, were SHOCKED that Irsay brought Grigson back after the disaster from last year. Pats fans aren't the only ones that know this team has huge problems at the top, and because they can see this, does not make them haters. I've wanted Luck to succeed since day 1, but I realize that this is not the same organization it was 10 years ago. I don't know how anyone could hate Luck, cause off the field, he's a likable kid with progressive ideals, which makes him more likable than most. This team was blessed for years having Tony Dungy as a coach and Polian as a GM. If Dungy was still around, I would have faith in this team. That man is a saint in my book and I'll forever defend Dungy.

For the record; Jules don't agree with me on everything. We've disagreed hundreds of times over the years, especially when it comes to the Saints or Colts, and of course; New England. You can ask her, for years, I never trusted the Patriots to win a 4th Super Bowl and she proved me wrong on that. But it's for fun, nothing personal. If she wanted to, she could easily brag about proving me wrong on NE or Baltimore, or other AFC teams that I occasionally am totally wrong about.

    3. 2006Coltsbestever

      2006Coltsbestever

It's not personal at all with me, it's just fun debate to me. I did say "may" want to go out and look into a new GM or Coach. The key word was "may". Obviously if we start 0-4 or 0-5 then you have to wonder if this team should. I have never said Grigson nor Pagano are Great and have even been critical of them at times. I dont think they are the worst either like many say on this forum. When the team loses I am critical of players that play bad as well. I am not mad at you at all. It's just a sports message board. I honestly think this forum just goes way overboard with the criticism of the team when we lose which is silly to me. I get upset when we lose but I am not the type that bashes our team 24/7 like some on here do. Does no good to do so and brings negative vibes to the Site. Stuff I really don't care to read. Regarding Jules, I like her and have never had any problems with her. All I did was is make a fair statement in saying when it comes to you and I she always agree with you. She may disagree with you on certain subjects but when us 3 chat she sides with you pretty much everytime and I am ok with it. When I made the sky reference it was a joke more than anything. I will stick to my opinion on Luck's contract, we had to re-sign him, he is a franchise QB and one of the faces of the NFL and he is young. If he was in the 30's and hadn't won a SB by then I would agree with you that his contract wouldn't be deserved. He is only in year 5 what a lot of people aren't getting either. It took Peyton 9 years to win a SB. Some Colts fans on this forum need to quit being spoiled and have a little patience.

    4. Jules

      Jules

I'm tired tonight, had a long day with a lot of stuff. I really don't have the energy to continue this discussion a lot. So we can move on eventually. I am not mad at anyone either.

For the record, Bogie and I have had disagreements and fights even over the years. Maybe it is not public so everyone can watch it like a soap opera for fun. But, it has happened with disagreements over sports and non sport related things too.

For the record Luck is kinda over paid based on never being a SB winner or MVP,  but we all knew it was going to happen. And he probably could have gotten big money as well on another team. But, the problem is I do feel sorry for Luck as well. I love the guy but he has never had the top level management and coaching he truly deserves. Coming out of college we all knew he had the potential to be one of the best in the league but sadly he has been beaten like a drum here on the field.

Saints are even in a more sorry situation and Bogie could tell you this since Brees is still playing at an elite level but his coach and management has gone full lunatic. They cut good players from the team and can't win close games to save their lives.

Both Luck and Brees deserve better, period. I can't change my mind on that. The Chiefs would probably win the AFC with either QB at the helm.

I mean look at how good our o line used to be once and how easy it used to be:

      Look at that hole.......

Thats what people need to remember too, we used to have a lot going for us that was not just Peyton Manning. We had coaches, management.........players.....everything. And yes I realize some don't want to hear criticisms and to say "be patient" but I really do doubt that Pagano/Grigson can ever build anything around Luck as good as Polian/Dungy once did. Sorry but thats the truth.

  21. Poor Miami Heat, so close yet so far. Sigh.......

Okay so we got Celtics hosting the Bulls, fun series. Often Boston did get Wade when the Big 3 where there too. One good thing for Boston is that they get to avoid Toronto until the eastern conference finals should they make it that far.

As for the aazz factor, not sure who played tonight but of course they lost. Although they do host the Pacers who they should beat IMO unless they blow it.

In the west, we are clearly Portland trailblazers fans at the moment. ;)  Although thats a long shot with a 41-40 team. Sigh.

I think he looks like a pervert.

  22. Was watching Pats/Panthers. Cam Newton looked horrible. And so does Jimmy G aka "the backup for 4 games". The Pats offense got going when Brady went in there at the end of the first and zipped down the field fast. I am not sure why they put Brady in since I would think the backup needed all the work he can get against starters?

What a tough season to pick teams, I don't want to get influenced by preseason either.......

I never have had such a tough offseason trying to pick SB teams LOL.

I know we are down with all the CBs so I did think the D would suck.

But, man after hearing about Romo, I would like to just keep Luck out almost until week 1.

I don't see him playing next game. At least it does show he can take a hit and be ok because after what happened he had to be a bit weary of getting hit again.

Luck looks healthy enough and he can still play. I would just let the line work itself out in the 4th game with a backup.

I know the D is going to suck until we can get back a few guys like Cro and even Patrick Robinson who I know Bogie hates from the Saints but he is at least a veteran with experience who tries hard.

  23. Happy Super Bowl Weekend everyone!!!

Only way the Pats lose this game is if they Turn it over 2 or 3 times resulting in Falcons points and the Falcons play pretty flawless. It could happen that way because on any given day the better team doesn't always win. I do want the Falcons to win but I am picking with my brain not who I want. Tom is pretty much considered the GOAT anyway already by most people so if he wins this game it is what it is. I still have Peyton in my Top 5 so this game doesn't affect Peyton's legacy one way or the other regarding the Tom vs Peyton debates. I was much more into it last season because I thought Peyton getting Ring 2 catapulted him into the Top 5 no matter what, believe it or not some had him around 7-10 because he only won 1 SB. Now that he has 2 rings to go along with his 5 League MVP's only a hater would keep him out of the Top 5. In a 1 game situation I would still take Montana over Brady or Peyton but Brady has accomplished more than Montana winning wise by making 7 SB's and winning just as many = 4. If he gets #5 he sits alone at the top of the Mount Rushmore of QB's. My Mount Rushmore = Montana, Brady, Unitas, and Peyton. That wont change no matter what happens tonight in my eyes.

Brady has already surpassed Montana's playoff record.

As much mystique is centered around Montana, if you actually break down his playoff record and compare it to Steve Young, it's really a subjective point. I said Steve Young because if you compare him to Young, you see their playoff records are mirror image. Only difference is Young stayed injured so often and did not have the durability or career lifespan as Montana, so we never really know what could've happened.

I'd tell you Brady surpassed Montana with the 2014 Super Bowl. Montana was rarely ever in a position like that, and needing a 10 point comeback in the 4th quarter to win.

Thank god this Super Bowl has two good quarterbacks and we don't have to deal with that crap show from last year.

Everyone I know, even non-Saints fans are rooting for the Pats because we want to see Goodell have to hand that trophy to Brady after the made up B.S. gate controversy.

Only a select few handful of Saints fans want to be traitors and root for the Falcons. But seriously speaking, as hated as the Pats are, Goodell is hated even more.

Today will be a glorious day in NFL history if Goodell is forced to hand that trophy to the team he created a fake controversy over and launched a huge stupid investigation that just fired them up mentally.

Go Pats!!!! Revenge for both stupid 'gates'. I wish it could've been the Saints, but this is the second best option. Make Goodell look the fraud he is.

I'd rather have to meet DA ROCK and talk about all these stupid movies he's in that we can't escape than have to meet LaVar Ball. Is that bad enough?

You need to rest up for Lebron too.

  25. I forgive you now Kyrie. Now ball out for Boston and be a good boy for Brad Stevens in his system now mmmm okay?

    This is insane.

I guess Boston really did want to dump the smaller PG with the bad hip after all. I never saw this coming.

Regarding Lonzo, I think he will pan out despite Daddy being an A Hole lmao Regarding LeBron, Dan Gilbert is very lucky to have him. He doesn't win a Title without him much like Irsay wouldn't of won one without Peyton.

I agree Lonzo don't seem so bad lately and he loves Lebron apparently. I also think in my gut I know a pass first PG like Lonzo with the skill set he has would appeal big time to veterans like Lebron/Paul George.

Lonzo's passing is probably going to be what makes him effective in the long run cause his shot form needs a lot of work, but I've been thinking he probably can be a very effective player just by passing...I admit, I go hard on this kid cause the hype train is so annoying and his dad is the biggest jerk in all of sports right now. It seems like every other week, LaVar does something new that is disgusting.

Lonzo has done a good job though so far making HIMSELF likable since summer league...At this point, it really is his dad who makes everything sour. If the dad wasn't in the picture right now, things would be just fine...Lonzo has become so quiet this summer, but it's daddy Ball who is cussing out female referees, getting them thrown from games, going in the media and running his mouth, saying outrageous offensive things, etc.

You are probably right though, cause LeBron had that kind of passing going on in Miami and he was such a more relaxed player. That's really the main difference between Miami and Cleveland besides Miami playing MUCH better defense...Wade would pass the ball so much, and LeBron didn't have to focus all his time setting everyone up like he has to do with Cleveland.

Personally though, if I am in the Lakers camp, I wouldn't want to chase these aging stars. I think they should focus on their youth and building them up and keep drafting well...That's pretty much what Golden State did, that was a whole project with the drafting and spending years to develop their main stars. The Lakers do have some decent young talent. Ingram is going to be a beast in the next few years, and Zubac showed good signs last year and became a bit of a fan favorite.

I hope both of you are right in that he stays in Cleveland or that he SHOULD at least. Going to be an interesting year of basketball thats for sure!!!

Thanks for the input from both of you about all of this. I have to head to bed early tonight now.

Have a good night, Jules. I'm about to head off myself...105 on the heat index today. :woah: Is fall coming soon? Will be so happy when this brutal summer is over, it's too hot right now... I'm tired out tonight after seeing my doctor, it's too hot lately to be riding around for hours in a car that is having air conditioner problems.

This was the move Boston had to do....IT3 is damaged goods that can't man his position on defense. Irving isn't known for his defense but at almost 7 inches taller, almost 5 years younger, if you are going to break the bank on a player (Irving in two years and IT3 next year)....you make the move.

Crowder is a solid "Glue Guy" and Zizic may or may not be that piece in the middle?  Throw in the Net's pick, which I think will be higher than the Lakers' pick....just collateral damage.

Tatum was the #1 in this draft and Brown is a freak.....add Hayward and if ONLY Tito could move to the stretch....with either Tatum or Brown as the 6th man and Marcus 6A....Golden State would have competitiion.  The "5" is still a problem.
