You mean a first round player that Belichick took didn't turn out to be a lifetime pro bowl player?  Who would have thought that with as many who thinks Belichick's  picks are iron clad hall of fame players? :dunno:

My thoughts exactly, great post!!....meanwhile, Grigson signs a camp body to the 90-man roster in mid-March and he is the dumbest piece of * in the NFL, and clearly doesn't care about this team

I don't like Joseph as our 1st. pick.  I want a starter with our 1st pick not somebody who can't step in right away.  I would be okay with him in the 3rd. , I know he won't be there.  I would be surprised if Kelly, Martin and Whitehair are there for us in the 2nd. round.  We need to take one of them in the 1st.  I have seen them all taken around our pick on some mocks. Now if we could send a conditional 2017 pick to the 49"ers. for Davis then I think we could take our chances and wait until the 2nd. for a center and thus freeing up our 1st for possibly a defensive STARTER, maybe a NT or LB.  Even if we were able to trade for Davis I could still see them taking a C with the first pick.  I think Irsay has told them, fix that IOL or else.

SHOCKER!!!!!  Unfortunately I cannot find an emoticon with a broken record playing.  Your comments always make me wonder if there is more than 1 round in a draft, and if there is, why do we even bother because you cannot find talent after the 1st apparently.

I would gladly bet the Colts don't take Whitehair. We just watched a team with one of, if not the worst, OL's in football just win a Superbowl. However, they had one of the best DL's - front 7's - in football. The Colts aren't going to reach for an OL, especially not Whitehair. Irsay has specifically stated in the past 2 months that while the OL has to be addressed, Luck needs to get better at reading/reacting with the football (get rid of the damn thing). The OL isn't the whole problem, which also says why Grigson went out and snagged Philbin as OL coach. There is plenty of talent the Colts can grab in the mid-rounds that can help bolster the OL, while also being value added. Whitehair in the first simply is not, and I don't see Grigson suddenly changing his philosophy regardless of how the past has fared.

The Cowboys arguably have the most talented OL in football, and have been for the last 2-3 years, but they literally have nothing to show for it. Behind that same OL, Romo got knocked out twice last year. Between getting a full off-season with Chud, an upgrade in coaching, Luck improving himself, I think there is some overreaction to the Colts needing to reach for OL.

    Great post!

  4. In one respect, I am hoping that three QBs are off the board before 18, as this would help push down some extra non-QB prospects to us.  However, I also wouldn't mind the QBs being passed up on early as that may make our pick at 18 more desirable, and bring in some interesting offers.  It is hard to predict/guess what those offers would look like, but I would definitely listen....and obviously, trading out of the 18th spot would be completely dependent on who is still on the board in any situation.

Jim is the member who had asked the question about BPA vs. "Player you want/need". He wrote that despite other players being ranked higher, he wanted the Colts to select Conklin. I think that would be a very good pick for the Colts.

I don't like Coleman for the Vikes. I like Doctson better.

I was being facetious when I wrote that I wanted Karl Joseph on the Vikings "by any means necessary". I do like him a lot but it may be a reach at #23.  I think he will be gone by our 2nd round selection.

I am sorry for butting in to your convo, however, I wanted to point out that the issue people had with Jim's comments were that he values needs over all else.  Hence, he does not (or did not) care if an OL was rated 40th on the Colts draft board, you take him at 18 because you "need" him.  I think most people (or at least the members I pay attention to the most on this forum) agree that Conklin at 1.18 would be a good pick for us, especially considering his projected versatility (could play RG or RT for us), etc.  I know I wasn't involved in the original convo, just wanted to give my two cents :)

Since I've already invited myself in, I'll go ahead and let you know that I agree with you about wanting Doctson over Coleman (I like Coleman, I just think Doctson is the top WR in this draft)....and I am a huge Karl Joseph fan, so I completely agree with you on him...if it wasn't for the injury I would want him at 18 :peek:

  6. I dig Rankins as well, I think he'd bring versatility to the DL...and also give us another guy who can put pressure on the QB...not all pressure has to (or needs to) come from the edges.

I like Neal, but I agree with wanting someone a little more rangy than what he appears to be.  I'm in the Karl Joseph fan club, I think he has a complete game.  Nice mock, though, I like it.

You believe there are 20 players we should take before Ryan?

    Name the 20 players.

Rankins, Billings, Dodd, Reed, Robinson, Nkemdiche, V. Butler, C. Jones, Clark, A. Johnson, Spence, Correa, Floyd, Alexander, Jackson III,  Fuller, K. Joseph, Bell, Spriggs, Decker, H. Henry, Treadwell, Doctson, Coleman...there's 24 off the top of my head

I have Kelly ranked about where our 2nd pick would be (40-50), but obviously you have him ranked much higher.  My philosophy is to not reach for need (especially early), and certainly not to take a player just because you're afraid he'll be gone by your next pick.
