  1. I agree with you. Taylor’s prolific scoring off sets Pitt’s low TD numbers. That’s how this team rolls. Pitt has a target on his back each and every game and still comes through like the clutch player he is. Get him another receiving talent to run with and he’ll show he’s worth every penny of a $22+ million dollar contract. Sign him.
  2. I think they sign Grover but that they’ll also draft a DT Day 2. We all saw the run D when Grove was missing for those 6 games. They need him.
  3. That, and his other worldly ability to sense pressure as well as place the ball on a dime while on the run. Mahomes is one of a kind.
  4. Makes sense. It gives everyone what they want; the Colts stay attached to Pitt while he’s allowed to see what’s out there. In the end, they will sign him while still allowing Pitt to explore his value with the rest of the league. Best of both worlds.
  5. Exactly. Of course, if Bowers does last to the 15th pick you run that choice straight up to the podium.
  6. Tenn. desperately needs to rebuild its O-line. There are top OTs for the taking; foundational ones. That’s where they will likely go. I’m not arguing that Bowers will be there at 15; only that Tenn won’t be the team to take him. That said, I’m all in on the guy if he’s available. Right now, the TE position is a dead zone for the Colts with many question marks. Bowers would change that immediately.
  7. For cap reasons, I don’t think they pick up another $20m dollar player UNLESS it’s through free agency. You have to control your cap by smart use of your top draft picks. That 15 pick can get you a foundational offensive player so badly needed right now at a cheap price (Bowers or Odunze for ex). So trading the first pick for a player who takes a big chunk out of your cap isn’t likely IMO.
  8. Yup. Keep your excellent, and only, run stopper while drafting his next backup and eventual replacement. The Colts need another big and talented body on that D line.
  9. I agree with almost everything you say here. Except I think it will take a little longer than 2 years for Luck to get in the ROH. The timing of his retirement may not be entirely his fault (Colts likely asking him wait on the decision to retire in the hope he’d change his mind) but it has hurt the team for years. Get this team back to consistently contending and the sting of the post Luck years will be in the rear view mirror. Until then…. no ROH. Bob Sanders, on the other hand, should already be up there. Hope that happens soon.
  10. Agree. Grover is a keeper. I expect Moss to move on looking for a starting gig. Blackmon shouldn’t break the bank given he’ll be coming back from a major injury.
  11. Rogers’ situation is obviously much different from Ogletree’s. Rogers admitted to betting on his team. A massive problem for him and the NFL. I agree with what the Colts did; I’m stunned the Eagles did what they did. Ogletree is in limbo while this all plays out but as far as I know there has been no admission of guilt or proof of it either. Time will tell but there is nothing wrong with the Colts holding onto him while his innocence is still under review.
  12. A QB starved team will take a run at Russell Wilson. And why not? He played better in 2023 and still has gas in the tank. Even if he’s only a placeholder for a couple of years, he definitely has value. I also expect Minshew to be with another team next season. He has his limitations but deserves a chance to start, and there a few teams where he could be an upgrade over what they have.
  13. Love Bruce Huff. This guy seems perfect for the Colts; not yet at superstar level but very productive and ready for a larger pass rushing role. And your draft is solid but contingent upon a FA free safety. Because next to pass rush and WR, this is the other major weakness on the Colts. Miss on that FS free agent and the draft becomes your only recourse. I would take a second DT vs another O lineman as well. That said….Nice job!
  14. I’m not as worried about CB as I am about FS. The young CBs improved a lot over the season and Flowers is coming back. But a true FS is needed. I’m not sure what’s out there in FA but hopefully some experienced talent can be had. Same at LB.

    Alec Pierce

The Colts will either sign Pitt to an extension or tag him. He’s not going anywhere. I DO agree that they will pick a WR high in the draft. The offensive talent on the team needs a boost, and they will need to hedge their bet on Pitt if he’s tagged.

He might. But this team still needs offensive weapons. They’re going to add to the WR corps with either a high pick or a trade.
  17. And that’s what they’ll do. Pitt’s not going anywhere.
  18. I suspect this is the path the Colts travel. A new vet backup and a late round rookie to groom and be the #3 for now. I think Minshew will seek a starting opportunity and he might just get a shot.
  19. All fair comments. But why not run that play on third down? Why lay all your chips on the table, with the season on the line, using your 3rd or 4th string RB on 4th down? That’s where I keep scratching my head. The pass wasn’t great but it was very catchable.
  20. Pitt is being smart. You want a big contract? You make sure your employer knows you're not going to take less than market value and that you’ll consider your options. I fully expect him to be back with the Colts, but he won’t and shouldn’t come cheap.
  21. It’s clearly why Steichen was eating up time. But he got too clever for his own good. No passes in the last series until fourth down. Against a D stacked to stop the run. By then it was do or die… and we know what happened. I have little doubt that Steichen has already replayed that final series 100 times in his mind. Painful as it was, he’ll learn from this. The Colts have the right guy in charge, and with a few key personnel moves, the sky is the limit.
  22. Ballard and crew aren’t stupid or blind. They know the D lacks playmakers just as they know they need another top WR. The question is if the Colts Brain Trust is willing to spend the $ to get a few difference makers in FA. Ballard’s history says no, but this coming year may be a make or break one for him. He needs to get creative and solve the Colts’ talent issues. Just resigning the team’s own key free agents and hoping for a score in the draft won’t move the needle next season. For this reason, I think the Colts will push the envelope this off season. Meaning: trade a pick for a player; and open up the checkbook for a difference making FA. Something has to change.
  23. And a flatter route would have allowed the pass rusher to swat the ball down. The throw was nearly knocked down as it was. Here’s the real problem: In the end, you put an inexperienced, PS level player in position to decide the season. That just makes no sense to me. Maybe on 2nd or 3rd down but not in that situation. Instead you need to have your best talent in there and allow one of them to get their hands on the ball. Steichen made a huge error in judgment on that play IMO.
  24. No way do you get rid of Pitt. That’s a losing play. He’s a reliable Reggie Wayne type receiver. You go get another top receiver to join him. If the player is there with the first pick, spend it instead of trading down. The Colts need difference makers now, not quantity.
  25. Regarding Cox: there are plentiful “block first” TEs out there. Mo is getting paid $5m per year. He has stone hands and pedestrian speed. The Colts can upgrade there at half the cost. I think MAC is a luxury that is no longer affordable.
