Does anybody know if we kept the scout who helped us "find/pick" Marlon Mack?  There was an interesting article on him and how he's been around through like 2 or 3 different Colts regimes. I can't find it anymore though. Was wondering if he survived the purge?

Believe it or not there are several Colts scouts that have survived through several regime changes. However, to answer your question, yes they have kept Jamie Moore as of right now.

This is his bio on Colts.com. Normally if a staff member is fired they remove their page off of the staff list.

He also may or may not have a drinking problem that derailed his career as a GM. I'm all for second chances though, and I agree that he would be a great asset to the scouting department.

He definitely had a drinking problem as it is well documented during his time in SEA and SF. However, after hearing what the players had to say about him during his time in Washington I find it hard to believe that it was drinking that led to his firing.

  3. A couple more names to watch while Ballard fills his scouting staff. Rex Hogan the Jets Director of College Scouting, and Morocco Brown currently a 49ers scout, but scouted with Ballard in Chicago. La Canfora also mentioned their names a while back.

I personally think that we should look into Scot McCloughan for a position on our staff. I believe he was unfairly a fall guy in Washington due to his conflicted relationship with Team President Bruce Allen. He has a great resume, and built a playoff roster quickly while he was there

Yes....   but the way it's posted,  it's not clear WHO made that offer.

Does it even make sense that ANYONE made such an offer and he wound up agreeing to a contract for 1/8 with bonuses that could push it to 10?

Who turns down 5/60, even with low guarantees,  for 1/8?        No one.

I think that was the Poe camp trying to drum up business.....     it didn't work.

The two teams that knew him best,  KC and Indy,  had him in the facility and let him walk out the door and sign elsewhere?

    What does that tell you?

Click on the link in the tweet. She was responding to a Colts fan asking if the Colts made an offer.

Contract language can be a big snag for a player. I don't care if it is a 5 year 60 million deal or a 1 year 8 million dollar deal. I still believe Poe thinks he is worth a superstar contract, and took the risk and gambled on himself having a huge rebound year. Plus if he was going to accept a 1 year prove it deal why not sign with a contender, and try to get a ring while your at it.

There may have been "talks" but I don't buy that the deal was actually offered to Poe. Or else he would be here right now.

I think he took a chance in Atlanta believing he would have a big year to skyrocket his price tag next year. Plus it was a 5 year up to 60M deal. We have no idea how much was guaranteed. That might have been the sticking point.

  6. DeAngelo Brown, NT, Louisville in the 5th would be a nice addition. Strictly as a run stuffer though. Although he is ranked in the top 25 as a interior pass rusher he is still not that effective IMO.

    95.  DeAngelo Brown, DT, Louisville

While first round defensive tackle Sheldon Rankins got most of the publicity, Brown was a quiet anchor up front for the Cardinals, ranking in the top-25 in both run defense and pass rushing among returning interior defensive linemen. On 948 snaps the last two years, Brown’s posted an outstanding overall grade and an extended workload should give him the recognition he deserves in 2016.

I heard Sean Spence was decent in coverage but that's about it.

Don't know the deal about Zach Brown... it's not just us that are not going after him. Maybe he's a little overrated. I didn't watch him much last year but heard he missed a lot of tackles and a lot of his tackles came down the field. That sounds like D'Qwell Jackson from a couple of years ago to me.

The biggest knock on Zach Brown is that he isn't very consistent. Some snaps are outstanding ranking with top ILBs, but there are some plays where he looks like a bottom 5 ILB.

I also heard that Spence was good in coverage, but I remember Doyle burning both him and Avery Williamson in coverage.

  8. He went through some growing pains today as expected. He is stout in the run game, but missed some assignments in the pass game. I look to see him improve with more starting reps I also think the more he plays and builds chemistry with Good the right side should solidify more and more each week. I am curious to see how he plays against a speed rusher during the next few games.

We know what we have in Reitz, he is a solid backup swing tackle. Why not give a young player with a bright future a shot to secure a future position on the right side of the line. I am personally all for Haeg getting an opportunity. Hopefully he makes the best of it.

Would much rather have OLB Charles Harris round 1, then ILB Anthony Walker Jr. round 2. I just think OLB is a bigger need and having a dominant pass rusher is so vital to a defense.

Walker Jr. is a beast and highly underrated. He would be a great pick in the 2nd. I agree with you, I think we need to focus in on our pass rush in round 1 with ILB being a day 2 pick along with CB.

    We just EXTENDED them!

But I'll play along, why not

GM: Scott McCloughan- Redskins (Spell Check)

    Coach: Bill Belichick

I'm sure I'm gonna get banned for the coach selection but hate him all you want, the guy is a genius & a winner. I respect him, but don't like him cause of who he coaches

This would be a dream situation. Couldn't agree more with your choices.

  11. Max Valles, Ronald Powell, Carl Bradford, Davis Tull, Marcus Rush, and Stephen Weatherly would all fit our system IMO. Valles should have a decent understanding of our defense since he is in Rex Ryan's defense in Buffalo. The rest would most likely have to start from square one and learn the playbook before they would be productive rotational players.

If we are looking for a player to step in right away and know our system. It is obvious we need to go with Okine, Bates, Mount, or maybe Valles.

I didn't think Grig's could resist This is the kid who played D in college then tested off the charts His numbers are crazy for a guy his size The Hawks tried to make him an OL It'll be interesting to see what we do with him

As soon as Seattle released him I told my buddy if he clears waivers this sounds like a Grigs project. I know he has a ton of athletic ability to mold. I too am very curious where we decide to put him.

  13. I don't mind this signing at all. I liked Street coming out of Pitt.

Now it is going to take him a while to get caught up in our offense, but he will add the much needed size to our offense. Especially if Moncrief misses a significant period of time. I am a fan of T. Smith, but I think the best thing for him is to continue to develop on our practice squad.

I honestly don't think it matters if we can't stop the running game.  They may rush 85 times and throw 15.  Siemian also shows some escape ability so he and Anderson could gash us pretty badly.  DLine has to come up huge this week.

Exactly. I truly believe if we don't shut down the run early and often then we are going to be in for a long day. After teams doing film study watch how we struggled with the Lions on tape expect the next few teams we play to test us significantly on the ground game and short passes to RBs out of the backfield.
