  1. No, not all of us are like furi0usbee, who is essentially gloating in an opposing team's space and trying to pass it off as football talk.

Not gloating. I said and have been saying that on paper, on the field, on trends, and on every metric you can use to evaluate a game, I don't see the Patriots losing this one. That is not gloating. I am being honest. I may be totally wrong and I'll have to deal with that. Nothing about the Colts worries me in terms of this game. I can't fake worry.

  2. That was a great read. I think with Brady early on he was very clutch in terms of playing good situational football. When I look back to that 2001 team, there is no way they should have won the SB. But the team gelled at the right moment and Brady had his best performances in the big moments that year especially in the post-season. I do think it is difficult to compare the game from 15 years ago to today but Belichick's comment on Phil Simms was surprising. I did not realize he felt like Simms was such a good Qb.

The Patriots had the benefit of seeing how that story ends, and it ends very well. Luck may very well turn around and he has the skills to be a top-tier QB. For the last couple years now, sports writers have been eager to put him on par with Brady/Rodgers, and certainly he is not there yet. Outside looking in, he makes too many dumb mistakes with the football, and rather than eating a ball or throwing it away, he tries to make plays that are dead, and throws some of the worst INTs of any "star" QB I've seen.

I've always said this. Down by 3, and with 2 minutes left, is there any another QB you would want running your offense? Like amfootball said, even Madden wanted Patriots to just run the clock out and go into OT. He had no faith in Brady, and why should he, he was an unknown in such pressure situations.

If I'm building a team for the future, of course I would take Rodgers. If I want a QB who can win me a playoff game when the game is on the line, I'm taking Brady. I have no problem living and dying with Brady in a big game. Luck can get there someday, but he's not there yet.

  3. You can't see any scenario?  The Colts play better than the Patriots is one.  The Pats have a bad game plan is two.  Someone gets injured is three.

Any given Sunday, as they say.  Or, as we saw last night, any given Thursday night.

There are hundreds of scenarios. I'm saying I see none of them *happening* Sunday night.

  4. This post is the most big-headed I have ever seen from any fan........ Is your fandom really so up  Tom's rear-end that you cannot see how ridiculous you sound?

Sure, the Patriots are a great team, Bill Bellichick is one of, if not the GOAT coaches and Tom Brady is a machine, but to say what you have said above is ridiculous..... How about if Tom Brady gets injured before the game in practice or even during, still think the Pats win? I'd have serious doubt that the Pats would even be competitive in the game in that scenario...

It may sound big-headed, but it's true. I see NO WAY ON EARTH the Patriots lose this game. It's my opinion, and yours may vary. But looking at what both teams have done, are doing, and the history, etc. If you guys pull off a win, I'll come back here and take my lumps and say how wrong I was. But unless they miss their flight, I can't see anything other than a victory.

  5. You might want to record it, and then decide after the fact if you want to watch it.   :P

LOL. They will have to lock me up and throw away the key for me to miss this game. I said before the season, if Patriots win only one game this year, this will be the game. Now that they are 4-0 and getting ready to roll, I haven't been this excited about a game since the Super Bowl.

  6. I don't think past matchups determine what happens in future matchups. Just because the Colts haven't played well in the past doesn't mean they never will. All the Colts need to do to have more success is play better. And on paper, the Colts have a better rushing attack and a deeper and more diverse receiving corps than they have in the past, so theoretically, playing better is a distinct possibility.

That may all be well and good. I'm only saying that I can't see any scenario where the Patriots do not win this game, purely from a talent standpoint. The score may be debatable, but I can't see the Colts winning this game. That's even throwing aside all the other stuff and the fact Brady and Co. will want to embarrass you guys at home. The Patriots are just too tough.

  7. Brandon Weeden isn't breaking any defense, especially without Dez Bryant. They were able to devote themselves to Witten with basically no other threats on the field. The Pats haven't played a good offense yet. I hope they play one Sunday night.

Matchup wise, I just don't see Luck (or any replacement) having any better luck, no pun intended, than Colts have had during the last several matchups. For whatever reason, the Patriots just have their number. I prefer to play Colts when they are playing at a high level, and I don't want to just see a practice session out there. That's what I got with the Jacksonville game. Practice.

  8. Is that a serious answer?

You apparently haven't watched the Patriots over the years. Yes, bend don't break is my serious answer. Teams have always been able to get down the field, but often come away with nothing or 3 points. However, since this game is going to get out of hand early, whomever is the QB will be passing mostly, and you won't be going for field goals. If this gets to be 21-0, it could be a shutout as you'll be passing every time.

    Yes, final answer.

  9. Ok, good luck with:

    Coby Fleener

    Dwayne Allen

    Andre Johnson

    Donte Moncrief

    Philip Dorsett

    Ahmad Bradshaw......

    oh  yeah...... AND Frank Gore.

Go look at the game info from last game. Some of those guys were there, didn't do much. I expect the Patriots to play the game of the year (for them). I don't see Colts doing much. I may be wrong, but I can easily see a 50 burger this week. They should have had 50 in Buffalo, but Brady got a bit carried away going for the throat on 4th rather than converting. Last week, it was a quiet 30, and 3rd down conversion hurt them (3 of 10). I don't expect the same this week.

  10. You mean the tight man coverage against Cole Beasley and Kevin Williams? What do you think your guys would have looked like with Dez and Romo out there? Man the Cowboyz offense was handicapped and u know it..

If Dez was out there, they shut him down, just like they will shut down Hilton. They take out the best man and force you to beat them with someone else. Watch Sunday, I'll bet they have over the top help come down on Hilton so he will never really be open after first contact. Hilton had 1 catch for 36 yards last year in the AFCCG. That's the same thing I expect this week. Someone else is going to have to step up.

  11. Over and over again I see this sort of denial from you guys where you talk about that great front seven and then you move on to another topic when I ask why you have given up so much against the run? I seek a straight answer and then you guys flip and start talking about pass rush. The pass rush you have mostly gotten against second tier guys who don't even know how to move in the pocket very well to distribute the football. Guys like Bortles, Tyrod Taylor, Brandon Weeden

Bend but don't break my friend. That's what we do. We let teams go on long runs, wasting clock, then ending up with 3. Just ask the Cowboys about that.

  12. To be fair it seems like the big name QB's and offenses get a lot of slack on pick plays.

I'm just tired of the ridiculous rules that favor the offense so much.

You can't even look at a WR without getting flagged on defense but you can run a blatant pick play to take out a defender with no consequence.

Yeah, the defense is, for lack of a better word, defenseless back there. If they hit a guy without the receiver looking them in the eye, it's a defenseless receiver call. If they touch the QB on the helmet, it's a roughing the passer call. If they lead with their shoulder, but the hit is a hard hit, often the flags fly. It's almost to the point where they'll have to grab the flag from the offensive player's belt. I think it was the Patriots/Buffalo game, where he was "touched" on the helmet, and bam a 15 yard penalty and 1st down. Even I was like, wait a minute, they need to relax these rules on the QB.

  13. I'll be honest with you on this. It would be a plus for the Pats if the Colts go run heavy. You won't beat the Pats that way. Both the Ravens and Hawks tore the Pats up on the ground last post-season and lost. The Steelers tore it up week one and lost. You have to score points. A lot of them. To beat us. You will need 30+ to win and if you run, run then you will not get there. You have to be aggressive. Score TDs when you are in the red zone. Not FGs. Go for every single fourth and short if you are at mid field or closer. And you MUST get to Brady. This is the recipe IMO to beat the Pats. The Ravens have done it the best probably the last few years, before all their defensive players retired.

Yes, Ravens had a great defensive package each time they played Patriots. A good defense and scheming makes all the difference in the world. But, even that great defense was not enough to stop Brady. And even Seattle's (better) defense was not enough to stop Brady. Defense can win championships. But when you have an offense that can go toe to toe with them, all you need to do is score 1 more point than them. Baltimore and Seattle found that out.

All I heard the week leading up to the Buffalo game was how the Bills defense was going to shut down Brady. The opposite of that happened. As for Colts, the Patriots have owned them on the ground. You know the Colts have to spend time game planning for that, but Belichick may come out and pass on the first 12 plays. A quick pass to Lewis is the same as a run.

I look at this offense now, and I'm really getting very excited going forward. The defense gets a bit better each week and I can't wait to see what this offense is doing in week 8 when they are full throttle. I'm very aware of what this team can accomplish this year, and it is something very special. I will enjoy each week to it's fullest. The sun is setting on Brady's career, and I'd like to see him go out on his terms.

  14. You are basing this on the skill positions I take?  You are probably right as Gore and your receivers are probably the most talented although I would put the Bills up there too. The issue is your Oline is going to have issues with our front 7 which is the strength of this team. Collins and Sheard are coming on like beasts along with Easley and Jones on the line. I think as usual per our match ups the Pats will dominate the LOS both ways.

This. Belichick has made a point to focus on the D line. After basically blowing up the secondary, and knowing there was no way to replace the talent back there, they focused on solidifying the front. Also, our linebackers are very solid! If our front puts pressure on the QB, the secondary just has to hold the play for a few seconds. Did you see the tight coverage against Dallas? I saw tight man out there which I wasn't expecting. That secondary can only get better, as this defense as a whole has done each week.

  15. No browner, no revis, no dennard, no Arrington, no fletcher. No corners. Malcolm butler is overrated lol

And yet they will need none of those guys to beat the Colts. I won't LOL though.

If you think Butler is overrated, you haven't watched his play this year. His size makes for a safety, and yet he's out there on the corner breaking up plays left and right. I'm pleasantly surprised in his game. Also, that defense is getting better each week if you haven't noticed.

  16. Hey Colts fans, I'm gonna give you a heads up. The fans on the Cowboys forum have been complaining the Patriots were cheating all day last week. How? Illegal pick plays. They said the Patriots were called for 1, but got away with about 20. They have no less than two threads on the subject.

According to some, the Patriots haven't played a fair game since 1999.
