I've never been a huge fan of Ebron, but....

    1. It's documented that he had pre-season ankle issues, and was on the injury report at least once or twice this season (pretty sure a few weeks ago for "ankle"). So the phantom injury stuff is less than credible to me. If he needs two procedures, it's hard to act like it wasn't that serious. Many wanted to give Luck a pass for leaving due to pain/rehab, but now want to roll EE under the bus for not wanting to play through pain?

    2. He's always had issue with core/body drops, so why is anyone surprised when it happens. It happened last year too. People just didn't care as much because we used him successfully so much in the RZ. Also, TY has almost drops in half the season that he did all year in 2018. Does TY need glasses, or perhaps the pass quality has diminished.

    3. He's seen his role (avg snaps and targets) decrease while the passing O has struggled mightily. He was Luck's go too a lot last year in critical situations, and this year he's an afterthought. While we used him brilliantly in 2018, not so much in 2019. It's hard to blame the guy for being frustrated. I'm sure most of the WRs and TEs are frustrated with the passing game. Almost everyone has seen their targets and production decrease.

    4. He was honest that he came here because he wanted to get passes from AL. AL is gone. Maybe he wants to go somewhere now with a high quality passer? He has ranted many times about his love for Indy. It'll be interesting to see how it turns out.

Based on what was reported by a guy that covers the Colts every day, Reich and Colts mgt disagree with you.

Did I slip into a coma and miss a couple of years?

We've been in the middle of a rebuild for 2 years now, with a couple more years to go.

Luck retiring may have pushed us back a year.

We were never going to be contenders with or without Luck

This...…..it was never supposed to be a championship season. Ballard had to completely turn over this roster. Then his franchise QB decides to retire. Then constant injuries.

The rebuild started with the bigs & LB, and this year will probably focus more on the skill positions. It's going to take more time. Now he might have to use one of their picks on a QB as well.

With that said, if Hilton, Campbell, Funches, Mack and a few others could ever stay healthy, this team would look a lot different.

  3. Stephen Holder was talking about it on Q&S tonight. Said Ebron hasn't been missing any practices, he played in games and mgt wasn't aware of any major issues with his health. His read on the situation is that Colts mgt is not very happy with Ebron at this point and that any chance of him re-signing with the team are probably gone at this point.

I've never been a big fan of Ebron. He doesn't block and drops a lot of passes. Wonder if my boss will let me "shut it down" for the rest of the year and still pay me?

  4. Big Joe Staysniak was talking about it this morning. He was really frustrated with how poorly the OL has been playing the past 3 weeks. Especially the right side of the line. Rick Venturi has said repeatedly that the right side of the line has played poorly. Joe said he counted 5 twists yesterday that the OL didn't handle properly.

This happened to me with Big Q last year during TC up in Westfield.  I walked into a backroom at work and did a double-take at this huge dude looking at products.  He was like "Am I allowed to be back here?" and I was like "Yeah, of course, let me know if you need help with anything." and went about my business, but in my head I was like "Big man you can go wherever you want, what am I gonna do to stop you?"

Anyway, I tried to play it cool when I rang him up, asked him how he liked Indy and being a Colt so far.  I even helped carry stuff out to his truck for him (like he needed help haha).  I wished him luck with the season and shook his hand.

It was surreal.  I played it cool on the outside, but I was a giddy kid on the inside!  :excited:

Working up in Westfield during TC was really cool.  I met Big Q, Ballard, Mathis, even the old OLine coach DeGuiglielmo.

Ballard lives just up the street from TC in the new Chatham Hills neighborhood so you'll probably see more of him in the future.

I might as well include my story of running into Colts from the past. In the late nineties I had been making calls in southern IN one day and was driving home to Fishers. At the last minute I decided to pull off 65 in Franklin and sneak in a quick 9 holes at The Legends Course. I paid for my round and then went over to the grill area to get something to drink before heading to the first tee. I didn't want to get behind anyone and noticed three big guys standing by the grill area so I kinda rudely pushed through them to get my drink and make sure I got out before them. It wasn't until I was standing in the middle of them that I figured out it was Peyton Manning, Ken Dilger and Kelly Holcomb. Peyton had 2 hot dogs in one hand and a large wad of bills in the other. They were discussing their bets and Holcomb said "Peyton I don't make the kind of money you do". In the end I beat them out to the first tee, played a quick nine and got back on the road.

  6. It didn't take long to figure out that yards and points were going to be hard to come by yesterday. You could see right away that the Jags were dominating the line of scrimmage. And that's after shutting us out in the second half of the first game. On the first 4th down from the one I knew we were going to get stuffed and sure enough that's what happened. Do the analytics account for who your opponent is? The NFL is a week to week league. You have to adjust each week.

Frank not recognizing the reality of what was happening was disappointing.

  7. After being signed by the Seahawks on Oct 3rd, T.J. just informed the team that he doesn't want to play football any longer and has left the team. Ryan Grigson is a consultant with the Seahawks and I imagine that is how he ended up there in the first place.

  8. Venturi made his weekly appearance on JMV's show today and said that yesterdays performance by the Colts OL was the best that he had seen since he moved here in 2013. He really studies the tape and will point out the good and the bad. I thought that was very encouraging.

You don’t spend big on free agents.  I repeat: you don’t spend big on free agents.  Now you repeat: YOU DONT SPEND BIG ON FREE AGENTS.

The best teams are built thru the draft. You can supplement the roster with players in free agency like Ebron, but your best players will always be home grown.  I will admit too, I thought Ebron was over paid and that seems to be working out nicely so far. I trust Ballard is doing the right thing by building from the inside out.  Hopefully he hits on his draft picks.

Finally someone who gets it. This is how it's done. Tired of reading so many posts from people complaining every time we don't go after an overpriced free agent. So many players stop working hard once they get the big money. I heard John Clayton say this weekend that many of this years free agents have not worked out.
