  1. Only if we can beat 1 or 2  teams out of NO-NE-PIT-DEN quartett

We've proven we can beat Denver, Manning isn't getting any younger. New Orleans are currently $30,000,000 over the salary cap, so it'll be difficult for them to strengthen!

Agree though, Pitt and NE will probably be losses.

  2. So, the 2015 schedule looks like this for the Colts...

Home - Houston, Jacksonville, Tennessee, New England, NY Jets, New Orleans, Tampa Bay, Denver

Away - Houston, Jacksonville, Tennessee, Buffalo, Miami, Atlanta, Carolina, Pittsburgh

Due to us having the benefit of playing a very weak NFC South. Does anyone think we'll finally push into a 12 win season?

  3. I really don't get the whole booing thing?

Surely if your team's struggling that's when they need you most? If anything you should be cheering LOUDER and giving encouragement, rather than abusing them.

Maybe it's just us over here, but we very rarely boo our own team (unless they've lost like 5/6 on the bounce) certainly never, ever boo them in a big game!

  4. In some twisted way it's almost a compliment that he had ANOTHER 100+ yard game and doesn't have a thread dedicated to him! It's almost a given these days!

The guy is a special talent! BOOM, Moncrief and Hilton. The future is very bright for OUR Colts!!

  5. I must admit, I celebrated the Pitt win as if it were a Colts one last week. I'm going to jinx us now, but I do not rate the Bengals at all. You need a strong Defense or QB to make it through the play-offs. I just feel like the Bengals have neither.

We have Luck (quite literally) and I'll take that every time! 28-17 Colts I say.

  6. We're the 4th seed.

So assuming Pitt beats Baltimore, @ Heinz, (I'd say that's a pretty valid assumption) and that we overcome the Bengals @ home.

We'd have to play NE @ Gillette. We played them this season with, home field advantage, and still got washed out 42-20. That's a pretty good reason not to have much confidence. Even if we somehow pull off a miracle, we then have to travel to Pitt or Denver, I honestly think it will be Pitt. Remember what happened last time we were there? 34-51.

    It's not pessimism, it's realism.

  7. If a referee ejects a player from a game in London, are they subjected to the French Guillotine or forced to settled a heated argument in Parliament as punishment for the lapse in judgement on the field?

Let them eat cake! Okay, maybe not.

You do realise that one of the main stereotypes for Americans over here (besides the morbid obesity) is that they're extremely self obsessed and arrogant.....

"What came first, the chicken or the egg?

    'MURICAAAAA'"

  8. Well played sir, the Scotland ones I'll give you bonus points for! Most people forget Stoke.

The other thing of course is some of these go back 100's of years, the NFL just doesn't have that history yet.

Going off topic again, but are you United or Wednesday then?

It's easy to forget how relatively young the NFL is compared to 'soccer'!

  9. I'd say it's pretty much the same as over here, a mixture of location and playing each other repeatedly or being in contention with each other every year. So yes while a number of football teams rivals over here are based on location (the local derbies, side note name all the city derbies in the UK :P), you do get rivalries that come and go. Example Man Utd and Arsenal when both were fighting for the title each season.

Same really goes for the NFL, there are some location based rivals but you've got to remember it's a much much bigger country so you don't tend to get teams all that close together. I'd mainly say it's division rivals or in say the case of the Pats/Colts, or going back a bit Steelers/Cowboys 49ers/Cowboys it's teams who play each other regularly in the post season.

Of course I don't have any US perspective so take everything I say with a pinch of halen.

That makes a lot more sense now! Should have really thought about it more haha.

City Derbies (not cheating I promise) -

    All of the London derbies.

    Birmingham/Villa

    Manchester City v Utd

    Liverpool v Everton

    Bristol City v Rovers

    Port Vale v Stoke? Technically

    Nottingham Forest v County

    Sheffield Utd v Wednesday

    Dundee v Dundee Utd

    Hibs v Hearts

    Ranger v Celtic

That's all I could think of! bound to have missed some obvious ones!

  10. How do teams become 'rivals' in the US? Over here it's purely based on location. I'm only asking as we played Cinci a couple of weeks ago, and geographically they are situated closest to the Colts, yet nobody referred to it as a rivalry game?

Yet, now we approach the Pats game and I'm getting the sense that this is seen as a rivalry game!

So, does location have no bearing on rivalry games in the US? What makes a team a 'rival'?

  11. That is absolutely disgusting. Some truly disturbing things written there. I guess that is the down side of social media.

If you were caught abusing someone like this out on the street, there'd be a lawsuit involved. Why should it be any different just because it's on the internet?

I'd like to think that Colts fans would have a lot more class should we ever find ourselves in a sticky spot.

  12. Well yes... making yards, scoring TDs (which is oddly the only part lacking from TY's season this year, not a criticism just an observation!), are all going to come from fundamentally being a good receiver. The very best in the game have always been good route runners, coincidence, probably not.

Again not criticising TY here, just saying it's probably a bit too soon to crown him better than Marvin Harrison.

Fair enough, I'm still learning the game so this is all very interesting to me!

  13. I don't know what you're talking about -- are you trying to dismiss route running as being important?

At this point in his career, TY is nowhere near where Marvin was as a route runner when Marvin was in his prime.  Not saying he can't get there, but he's not there yet, and until he is, I don't think a case can be made for TY as a better WR.

If he's catching the ball, making yards and scoring TD's (which he is)..... is route running really that important?

  14. I have two favorite teams, Oklahoma, and Oregon. I have and always will be an Oklahoma fan first, but the past few years, living on the west coast, I see a lot of Pac 12 games. If you want to watch a wide open offense, with one of the best QB's in college football, watch Oregon, and Marcus Mariota. I think this kid is going to be a superstar in the NFL in a few years.Right now, he's one of the top candidates for the Heisman Trophy as the nation's #1 player..He's big, extremely fast, has great accuracy and touch, and is poised well beyond his years. Plus, he's a very nice and humble person, a great role model for kids, who puts his family and education above everything else. I have his current stats below. He started as a red-shirt freshamn, and is Oregon's all time leader in passing and just past Andrew Luck for 4th place all time in TD's in only 2 and a half years..

I also, as PT said I am a player based fan as well..If I see a great player, I tend to gravitate to watching them perform. I like the college game more than the pro's sometimes, because most of the college kids are trying to make the pro's so they tend to play harder. I've watched some Notre Dame games this year, to see the QB Golson, some Georgia games to watch Todd Gurley, (before he got suspended). Oklahoma has a great WR in Sterling Shepard, (the son of a former OU WR) who died at a very young age, and he wears his dad's number...

I just love watching good games, so usually if you see two top 25 teams playing each other...then those are the ones to watch..

Its all personal choice, but I highly recommend you watch the Oregon/Stanford game this weekend. Stanford always gives Oregon fits, and is usually a very close and competitive game.

Oregon actually were my choice due to having family connections in Eugene!

Looks like I'll settle with them, although isn't there a lot of uncertainty surrounding the programme? Plus Mariota will be gone after this season! Oregon it is though!
