Agreed, But the case to be made here is. If 4 QBs go in the top 12 picks then there is going to be some REALLY good players on the board for the Colts to choose from. Could even trade back later into 1st round at that point and still potentially get a stud and pick up another 2nd or so.

Alot of opportunity with where they are.

I would love it if 4 QBs in the top 12 picks....

What else is he supposed to do. Not like there is another Tannehill out there. It’s time for us to get our future so we can start to compete with the KC and the Texans.

It's not like Tannehill started setting the league on fire.....  Two playoff games and how much yards has he thrown for???  He doing just enough which is working just fine for the Titans.

  4. I'm hoping Ballard is looking to draft or  bring in a couple free agents  game changers on the defensive side of the ball.

At one time the colts were called a soft team but, the online has become known as physical.  Time for the defensive to have that same presence, like when you play the colts it's going to be a physical game, a dog fight.  Ask the teams that have to play teams like the Ravens or Pittsburgh!

I'm sure it's because of Brissett. They need to cut him immediately. I don't care if it tips our hand. The locker room is falling apart.

Really, because of another player on the team a person would consider retiring....  I know Brissett hasn't been performing but, that's over the top....

I like Jackson, but he’s no R. Wilson. Once Lamar can no longer run, it will be oh oh!

@Shadow_Creek probably doesn’t know this, but R. Wilson rush yards have declined the past two plus seasons. Meaning he’s become more of a pocket passer.

I doubt that, Jackson had back to back 3,000 yard passing before he came to the pros by throwing the ball....

I think if Brissett wins the last two Ballard and Reich will be sky high and he will be our QB next year.  We will draft a DT with the 1st pick and Ballard will surprise us and spend in FA and get JB a serious weapon as well as acquiring a stud on the defensive side.  That said I'm not sure JB has the team anymore.  They looked very flat and uninspired and started to show disappointment in his play.  I think he's under a lot of pressure to deliver wins these last two games.  I'm not sure he can do to.

I love the idea of drafting a DT with the 1st pick.... and another stud on defense and a playmaker WR, and a free agent RB.

  8. To do that against a first string defense in the NFL wow!!!!  What was the one he missed on.  McFarland last night mentioned that Ballard realized the need for a good 3 tech DT for the type of zone defense the Colts play.

I guess the good news is with the Colts record now they will be in the middle of the pack come draft night.... along with the cap salary this could be a good defense next year.  Ballard has his work cut out for him next year and wish him well.  The pressure will be on him thats for sure, especially on what he will do with the cap money....

There's What We Need.  And then there's What We Can Draft.  And after that, What Holes We Fill In Free Agency.

I think that we need WR, DL3T, DL1T, QB, OT, CB in that order.  But you never know if you can draft them, in that order.  And free agency is trickier than simply going out and buying what you want.  They have to agree to the contract, too.  And you know that you will always be paying far more than what you're getting.

Last night shined a bright light on this team.  Yes, we made improvements.  Yes, we added young players that are capable of starting.  But we just played a championship caliber team.  And we're nowhere near that.

I totally agree in that order with needs...  Don't like the premise of giving up draft pick for any other QB than Burrows. What I see with the Colts pass rush, no inside penetration to the QB....

You didn't watch the game but you know what led to the loss?  Wow, that is pretty amazing.

    1.  Were in my statement did I say I knew what led to the loss..... Like you said pretty amazing....  I leave it at that

As far as talent is concerned, on offense, we have a good O-line, led by Q. Nelson, AC, Kelly and B. Smith. Doyle at TE is good, and that's about it really on offense.

T.Y. has had a below average year for a starting WR. I think his star is fading (back-to-back years of missing games due to injury). Our RB corps. with Mack is good when he's healthy, which is the problem.

On defense, we have D. Leonard. Done with that side of the ball.

We are far from being a talented team.

Here's a talented team: - Manning, E. James, Marvin Harrison, Reggie Wayne, Dallas Clark, Marcus Pollard, Ryan Diem, Tarik Glenn, Jeff Saturday, Jake Scott, R. Lilja.

Defense: Dwight Freeney, Robert Mathis, Gary Brackett, Antoine Bethea, Bob Sanders.

You hit the nail on head.....   Talent or differents makers from the skilled positions. When the Colts started the season by winning games every thing's was rosy, now the sked.  For me I'm not surprised.  With what the Colts have now the margin of error is slim for poor play during  stretches of games for them to overcome at this time.  The good team can overcome and win a game when they are not playing well in stretches of game.  Colts not there yet.  They are on the back end per say on  there rebuild.  The thing going forward is will the differences maker's be added per free agent or developed by drafting them.

Looks like we could not run ball. JB completion rate is never great although e did seem to have some good deep vertical pass connections - had not seen much of that this season. Real culprit in this game appears to be porous secondary and again we miss a FG that proved to be the difference. We got 4 turnovers and still lost is a head scratcher - Team will play out the season and have to make some key decisions on how to improve for next year

My point exactly, 4 turnovers  450 yard passing, 14 point lead at one point.  Young team with a lot of inconsistencies.  The Steelers and Titans are still in the hunt and it's a consistent they have, Defense.......  Just enough offense

    Lets keep our heads here.
I agree an upgrade at QB is desirable.

But showing JB the door puts us in worse position than we are now.  And who was available when they gave him the money?  Nobody.

JB is as good as we’re gonna have to start next season i’m afraid.

i’m starting to hope we draft a QB early.  Maybe even do a double-down and take 2.  I dont see a FA, and Hoyer and Kelly arent the future.

JB as a short-term bridge makes the most sense to me.

i’m starting to like the idea of going DT, WR, CB, and QB with our 1st 4picks.  And i dont care what order.

Totally agree with the draft pick needs, just not a QB first...

  14. Winston throws for 450 but 3 pick and Colts still lose.  Let's blame JB for this lost too lol...

Their no. 1 targeted WR is who, what's his name.  Did he even play last year.  Didn't see the game but how much pressure did they get on Winston.  Did the mix up the defensive coverage.  By the stats they didn't run the ball well.  Looks like a team and coaching lost to me but, I can see JB getting buried on this forum within the next

Since it seems to be a general consensus that we will be looking for a future QB, I figured it would be a good idea to have thread on teams that we feel will be vying for a QB with us during the off-season. These teams are in no particular order:

Cincinnati Bengals: Finley was not the answer to Dalton's decline. Even worse, they may be looking for a head coach when it is all said and done.

Miami Dolphins: The entire team needs an overhaul, and that will start with a starter QB. Fitzmagic is only meant to be a bridge to the future and Rosen will be used to gather more ammunition.

Denver Broncos: Do the Broncos have enough time to find out if Drew Lock is their savior? John Elway has been consistently trying to find an answer after Manning.

Carolina Panthers: Newton is having surgery and most likely is done. Kyle Allen has not shown the franchise that he is capable of being a starter on a regular basis.

Chicago Bears: Mitchell hits free agency this year. While the Bears are finally above .500, their QB has caused too many mistakes.

Atlanta Falcons: Since their Super Bowl run, they have been in steep decline. A reboot is on the horizon, and Ryan might be shopped around.

New York Giants: They gave up on the Daniel Jones experiment and handed the reins back to Manning.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Has Bruce Ariens seen enough of Winston? It would be hard to imagine the Bucs not searching elsewhere for a franchise QB.

    Bonus Round

New England Patriots: Tom most likely is returning, but there's always that chance he decides to retire. The Patriots also like drafting and grooming QBs nearly every year.

New Orleans Saints: Drew Brees becomes a free agent this year. Realistically if he wins that coveted 2nd ring he could walk away from the game. Do they stick with Bridgewater for the long term?

Oakland / Las Vegas Raiders: It's entirely possible that the Raiders will try and trade Carr for more picks. Remember that Gruden and Co. parted ways with Mack fairly quickly. No one is safe in this organization.

Los Angeles Chargers: Rivers will become a free agent once the season ends and the Chargers will be in position to grab a young QB in the draft this year. Decisions, decisions...

I'm sure there's more that could enter the market. These things can be so unpredictable. But I figured this would be a fun way to reference who we might be fighting with come January / February.

Dear God no about the Manning quote getting his job back.  They haven't given up on Jones...
