  1. I'm surprised he isn't throwing yet. I'm also surprised to see Rapsheet say, very clearly and definitely, that he doesn't need another surgery.

If it's 100% true he doesn't need another surgery, that's the ultimate takeaway here.

"Save the day" is a stretch. The honeymoon period alone would be enough to keep season ticket sales above water for 2-3 seasons, but if they were to have bad results, fans will bail, regardless of Manning.

Exactly. The media presents it as: Colts have an issue, Manning is the only one that can solve it, and he will solve it 100%. The way they frame it is ridiculous .

  3. I'm sure I'll get trashed for this, but I'm so tired of the Manning thing.

No evidence whatsoever that making him team president is a good thing. He's got zero experience. Being a good player does not equal being a good executive.

I'm not against him joining the organization at all. But JMV, Krazitv and others pushing the narrative that he's going to ride in and save the day is just too much.

  4. Not buying this....yet.

Not sure why this would be determined now - he's going to rehab and then be checked up again in December. Seems way to premature to say there's a chance he's not going to play again.

Also, not buying this Tony has a source. He said Luck was going to IR...when it became obvious this was a possibility after Ballard's press conference. And now this? Meh. Lots of people speculating right now.

I'm not sure how to categorize this thread as different from the others that blame someone who, in hind sight, clearly should have known better.

As I read the article, the 'news' is that now the 'belief' is that the current problems arose from the decision to play through

I don't think it's news that things have not gone as expected and in retrospect, perhaps things should have been done differently.

So, the quest continues. Whose fault is this? How do we lay blame clearly on someone for this?

I highly doubt that Andrew would make decisions about his own health that were clearly wrong.  He's not a stupid guy.

When you discuss the possibility of surgery, nobody gives you any guarantees of any sort.  You have to do the best you can to weigh your odds.

I really don't believe that medical professionals would compromise their professional ethics or front office staff would roll the dice on the future of a franchise quarterback.

I know some players choose to play through injuries and suffer terrible consequences.  But, Andrew Luck is not a guy fighting for his place in the NFL. So, the narrative that all this was done to him when it was clear that it was the wrong decision just does not make sense, no matter how I look at it.

I agree with a lot of what you are saying. Luck isn't stupid, but he's a player - meaning that if given a choice, most  players are going to choose to play. The team has a responsibility to do what's best for him and the team, regardless. I realize it's all in hindsight - but the team let him play through the injury, which now has effected the entire shoulder. Presumably, they wouldn't have let him play if they realized this would happen...but they did. And at the end of the day, results have to matter. It's been mismanaged.

It's a little speculation on my part, but I believe the reason Irsay is "furious" at the medical staff is because he was told that playing through the injury wouldn't make things worse...but it did. And here we are - I'd be furious too if I was in his place.

The need to blame someone for his injury is childish. Forum.Colts.com, football's best kangaroo court. Give us all a break from the constant finger pointing.

This isn't finger pointing, it's accountability. Colts allowed Luck to play through the injury, and as a result it's messed up his entire shoulder, not just the labrum.

This article (from Ian Rapport so you know it's reliable) makes it very clear that Lucks current status is on the Colts. He should have never played through the injury; he should have had surgery right away. According to Rapsheet, his current status is a result of playing through the injury. The labrum is repaired, but the shoulder is a mess due to playing with it for two years.

I've resisted the narrative that the colts mishandled Luck... I can't anymore. They absolutely handled this the wrong way, and now his season is over and, in my opinion, career is in jeapordy.

Also - this is why irsay is upset and feels he's being misled. Someone (medical? Grigson?) said he could play through this and delay surgery. And here we are.

Gee, i don't know why EVERY NFL player should take a year off after 5 seasons and let THEIR body heal up.
YOU people are so ___ ____.
____, they would probably forget how to play the game, just like all the other NFL players that get hurt in pre-season or the first couple games of the season. What nonsense.
Him coming back with a shoulder that hasn't healed for 12 + months is actually stupid if he isn't playing for
     a Championship.

Of course he will play if he feels totally healed up before game 13. JMO of course.

Nobody said anything about him forgetting how to play. But if he's off for nearly two years, there's definitely going to be a lot of rust to shake off. At this point, he's been off and healing for about 10 months, nearly a full calandar  year. If the shoulder is ready, cleared by the docs, he needs to play.

And for the record, they need to be conservative and take their time with him.  Which I think they are doing. I think the teams approach is correct. I'm not advocating to play him before he's ready or anything like that.

  9. I do not understand why you would want to sit Luck the entire year. Doesn't make any sense to me.

Do you really want to line up in 2018 with your franchise QB not seeing game action for two years? It also tells the rest of the team you're not serious about winning. If I was a player, I'd want nothing to do with that team.

  10. This is complete and utter nonsense.

Let's follow this rabbit hole for minute and realize it doesn't track. If Oliver Luck was upset that Colts were pushing Andrew to play injured, why would he be making a stink about it now? Luck is a few weeks away from being fully healthy and playing. Now's the time when Oliver pushes for an exit? When things are resolved, instead of when the issues were allegedly occurring?

Furthermore, yes it's true the Colts had some organizational issues between Grigson and Pagano that were causing problems behind the scenes. Again, why would Oliver wait until now, when Grigson is gone, Ballard is putting things back together and the Colts are (presumably) on the right track? Yes, Pagano is an issue, but the only reason he is still here is because Indy had no choice - with Luck's procedure, they couldn't go for a new coaching staff, and a brand new offense, with their star QB unable to work and learn it in the off-season. I would say there is a 99% chance he's toast in the off-season.

This makes zero logical sense, and shouldn't be given any credibility. Have Mike and Mike ever broken anything before? Just a couple of shock jockeys looking for views.

  11. This is an important topic. After showing some promise last year, Clark has been AWFUL. Not just bad, awful.

This is a storyline more people should be talking about heading into the season. We really don't have any other options at RT. Banner isn't ready, and Good seems to be exclusively at guard this year.
