  1. Hasselbeck has seen everything 15 times...

I'm sure that Luck is offering up any reads that he sees and he is definitely bright enough to catch some things that MH or Pep didn't notice.

However, I highly doubt he's calling any plays from the sidelines (assuming that's what you meant) for Pep or MH.

I don't doubt that the older player has picked some good things up from the young prodigy, but that would be the exception to the general rule that the wisdom lies with the experience. Andrew is getting way more usable data from Hasselbeck than the inverse.

Pep called a beautiful game on Thursday. Keeping MH (a less mobile QB) from being sacked against Watt and that front 7 was very much a product of scheme. Hasselbeck played smart. I really hope that Luck was paying close attention because, despite his elite talent, Luck struggles with the very things that MH did nearly flawlessly in that game. Namely, sticking to the plan and staying "within the play" as opposed to trying to do too much with improvisation and sheer force of will.

I think that most young, amazingly talented QBs go through this same type of thing and that Luck will be fine, but I do think that there is still a bunch that he can learn from an old guy like MH.

    On...the...money.

  2. I dont use stats because they dont take into consideration things like how many defenders were in the box, injuries to the RB or the supporting cast...or the defense for that matter.

Fantasy has ruined fans perception of reality. One RB could average 5 yds per carry and total 145 yards, but it was against a 4/3 where they rushed 4 for most of the game and dropped 7. Another RB could average 3.5 ypc and total 95 yards, but it was against a 3/4 rushing 6 with only 4 dropping into coverage for most of the night.

Stats can point you in the right direction, but stats can also lie, occlude, and mask truth.

  3. How about considering that MH has a great deal more experience at how to use the information that Pep has given him than Andrew has. Andrew is awesome at a great many things. Knowing which read to use, and when to change the play are things that he has a good learning curve yet to go.

This thread could be called......"Will Andrew learn from what Matt has shown him?"

  4. Brady has more rings than Colts have wins this season. So before you go spouting about how bad Brady is and how he's only managed to hoodwink the rest of the league for so long because of all kinds of external circumstances... go out and beat us first. Then talk. Go beat him, and maybe he isn't so good. But stop hanging 2nd place banners in your stadium and go out and beat the best to become the best. Maybe you can hang that 1st place banner with Luck someday. Until then, wake up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    That is all.

    ?

I have never spouted how bad Brady is.

Then talk?....I am not nor have ever been a bragger.

I don't hang the banners in LOS.

    How old are you?

  5. We have seen this movie before.  Everyone patting the Colts on the back for winning three games in a row, offensive line not giving up a sack, etc. etc. etc.  All of that needs to stop.  Last year the Colts won 5 games in a row and all we heard is how great they were playing and then came the Patriots.  Now I hate the Patriots as much as anyone in this town, but the Colts players do not need all this praise to blind them.  I hope the Colts can give the Patriots a fight, but considering a defense in the 2nd quarter of Thursday's game giving up 90 yards to a team with no time outs and a touch down on a hail Mary is ominous for this game coming up.  Let there be praise for this team if they beat the Patriots, but the Colts face three more undefeated teams (as of today).  Two of which will be on the road.

To quote a line from a Thunderbird's song.........

"Feels like your shovelin in dirt....on my soul".

To each his own. If required to take your view...I would give up being a fan. Anything that I hope to get out of the experience of rooting for my team would be gone. I politely yet emphatically reject your suggestion.

    Good day.

  6. DQ has played well in 4 out of 5 games, the only game where he played average was in the Bills game.

And DQ has been playing consistent ball since he came to the Colts.  it is one of the things that makes DQ a very good LB, he is consistently in the right place and he consistently makes the play when he has the opprortunity.

He is not a guy that will take over a game or make huge flashy plays but he is consistent.

I also disagree with the idea that he is a liability in coverage, he's not.  He is a liability trying to cover the more athletic TEs in the NFL man to man but he's not asked to do that very often.  In zone coverage he is very good and he's very good at covering the more traditional TEs.

    Exactly.

  7. To answer the OP....if Marty Shott can get fired after a 14-2 campaign, then any coach can get fired. IMO, it would be a shame to see him fired. He is a quality man, a great motivator, and he gives all he has. I think he is a better coach than Dungy was.

As far as the Jim H talk, that guy has become a complete basket case. I loved Jimmy...I supported as a possibility before he was hired at SF, but since then, I have seen too many instances of his mental instability. He may be a great coach, but he has went down freak lane and I don't think he will turn around. I would be very disappointed if he were hired.

  8. No matter how bad you are, you will hit on a player. This isn't all about his drafting abilities, or his scouting abilities. There is a real issue behind the scenes, which laughing about wont change, nor will anyone's complaining.

No matter how good you are, you will miss on a player. This isn't about the speculation of issues behind the scenes. He has a great scouting team and he drafts well, which assumptive criticism won't change, nor will anyone's support.

  9. Ok, so I think this will be THE test for Pep.  He has 10 days to prepare for NE.  He knows they likely will take away any deep routes, blitz inside, and basically challenge the Colts to run the ball and throw short.  Basically, have patience.  Last year in the playoffs, Pep played right into their hands.  If if 10 days he can't come up with a better game plan, I really have no hope for the guy.

I think the test that is important is for fans. Pep on the other hand is doing nicely and progressing. He will be our OC next season.
