Brad was actually a QB coach in 1985 for Colts. Unreal.
-
You guys sound like patriots fans when they first heard the news of bill coming to new england.. its only an interview ppl chill lol
-
Send me $100 bills with your name, and I'll email part of it (minus my administrative petition fee) to Jimmy. I guarantee that will be as effective as a letter/petition!
So a question for you - how much money has Peyton made as a Colt (and this should include endorsements and commercials)? I'll guess $200-300 Million. Yes, that's with a capital M. Still feel sorry for him? How many lifetimes would it take you (or me) to earn that? Remember that he has about 1/3 to 1/2 the year off, and plays games about 16 weeks/years. Bet you work more that that - I know I do!
How much money he made for Colts, Indianapolis and the Intangibles ( mental happiness to fans ) - Priceless. Don't try to measure what he did and if you do, do it right.

Brad Childress?, you are talking Brad Childress?, Brad Childress?, you kidding me, Brad Childress?

Wowwww grison is avoiding Manning... I can understand the premis of the OP, cause I felt like irsay was trying to make Peyton mad so he would want out, sparing him from doing the deed..
Irrespective of the situation, if someone calls you, its coutesy to return the call back.

This thread enlightened me with intellectual bliss

I think you can opposite and make a very reasonable argument that Manning may impede some coaches wanting to come here. It is an albatross to deal with the situation and his contract could cause delays in the ability to rebuild quickly. The other thing that I think would be appealing to potential coaches is the chance to start their career with a franchise QB who may be around for the next 15 years.
I am not advocating either here - just saying that the opposite of each of your suggestions has a perfectly reasonable alternative.
Even if Peyton is healthy, we would still be drafting Luck.
Any coach will feel comfortable with that. Not sure about franchise QB ( Luck could be bad )
-
If Peyton is healthy and returning, this hiring coaches becomes way too easy.
Most of them are hesitant and dont want to start all over.
-
I dont mind Pats winning. I am a huge Belichick fan.
Its just that, all the 3 remaining teams are tough matchups for Pats.

Money
Peyton, if plays will win another before retires.

I really would like to see Peyton win another Super Bowl but I just don't see that happening with the Colts. I am a diehard Colts fan have been for 63 years and would dearly love to see him retire with the Colts but I almost wish he would go somewhere else in order to win another SB. He deserves more than just the one and I feel this will in someway diminish his accomplishments when compared to Brady who in my opinion can't hold a candle to Peyton. Just my opinion.

Bringing back Dungy, takes us to pre-stone age. His conservative mind cost us a few SB.
We need an aggressive coach who is not afraid to take calculated risks, no more conservative wuss.
-
Have nothing to do with Indianapolis. Lovely city though.
Peyton fan, all the way.
-
If Manning is healthy, he wins another SB. Just so much fire in the belly now.
-
And coincidentally enough...the Colts defense that year was historically bad as well. They showed up in the playoffs, much like the Patriots defense did on Saturday, and we all know how it turned out for Indy that year. If you think the Patriots have no chance to win the title this year...then you must have thought the same of the Colts in 2006.
Only time will tell my friend.
-
You do realize that Peyton did have very good defenses in the past, yes?
Or that it was the DEFENSE, not Peyton, that was the driving force of the Colts' lone SB win with Manning?
Sorry, despite what you saw this year, there were times in the past when the Colts fielded an excellent defense.
Let's be real here, Brady always had better special teams, better defense, better coaching. One yr manning had good defense they won.
-
No Patriots fan did and no Patriots fan said otherwise. Everyone ELSE is the one saying that the Patriots are going to the Superbowl and making a big deal over the fact that Brady could win in your stadium.
If you notice, I replied to the ones who said it. Looks like you are a pats fan. I like them too. Just like Manning better.
To me, Belichick and Brady need each other. If one of them is missing, they won't be as successful as they are.

Peytons not the only player in Indianapolis either...
We all know that its a team game and teams win championships...but quarterbacks lead those teams. Dont try to discredit them in a sad attempt to save face for Peyton.
Exactly my point, don't start over crediting your buddy Tom. It's a team game.
-
If Brady wins it this year, it will be very hard to argue against him being the best of all time given what he has accomplished this year.
Sure, he is the only player in NE. There is no one else. Oh yeah, they dont have any HC too.
-
Not trying to turn this into a Peyton vs. Brady debate, but if Brady wins the SB this year, I don't really know how much of an argument there is any more for Peyton being better than him. Brady will have distanced himself quite a bit. That 6 TD performance last night was just unreal...
As far as Brady winning it in LOS, no big deal. Colts won't be playing, colts logo won't be on the field, and I'm sure all the Pats will be worrying about is the Packers.
I am perplexed with this.
Did you watch colts this yr?. This is what peyton is dealing with all his life.
It's a team game. Put Brady with Jim Caldwell coaching and with our defense and special teams and see how many playoffs he wins.
Having said that, they still won't win this year.
-
I want one classic decision by Caldwell in 3 seasons which was beneficial to team.

I've been a Colts fan for 40+ years and nothing is going to change that, but watching Peyton play against the Colts would be just brutal. About the only similar scenario I can think of is when the Mets dumped my childhood sports hero Tom Seaver - who was so upset about it he cried at his press conference. Darn straight that I continued to root for Seaver regardless of who he was facing. When he faced the Mets I wanted him to humilate the arogant owner and remind him how foolish the trade was. But the Mets were lousy, and there are a 162 games in a season. What would I do if Peyton faced the Colts in a playoff game? Perhaps turn off the TV and find another sport to follow. That would just not be fun to witness. Or perhaps root for Peyton to have a brilliant game, but for the Colts to win anyway.
Fortunately I don't think that Irsay wants to see it either.
Assuming Colts will reach playoffs without Peyton in the next few yrs to face him? Hmmm

At least I treat stranger's with respect not arrogance and sarcasm.
When that one player built everything for the franchise and the city, heck he is better than a GM
-
Glad that I don't support a team with that kind of philosophy. One player isn't as important as the role that the GM plays. Then again, didn't you say that you only started following the Colts because of Manning? That would explain your skewed viewpoint.
At least I treat stranger's with respect not arrogance and sarcasm.
