Secondly, there was no random bouncing of the ball.

It's a football, guy. They tend to bounce randomly in any direction. We see players diving for loose balls allt he time, only to end up with arms full of air.

Look.... I'm just saying that I don't try to pretend I know he could've gotten that fumble back by diving. I don't pretend he didn't want to put in the effort to win.

    You do.

Keep pretending. Tell us about how you won the championship at Polk High.

Anywho... I'm not a huge supporter of Cam. Rather, I've ripped his rear numerous times on this site for his man-child behavior. But I'm not going to second guess his decision (or inability) to not dive on a loose ball.

What is your point?  This is the Super Bowl not a carnival.  Cam Newton is one of the most gifted athletes I have ever seen.  He easily could have gotten this football.  He is bigger than almost anyone jumping in the pile.

    Contorted legs...Whatever Ruk.

@Dustin I quoted Ruk and it was you as recipient.  I apologize.

The ball was in motion. Perhaps, in the .03 seconds he had to contemplate diving, he thought diving would lead him away from the ball?

Perhaps he did consider diving, but in desperation, he wanted to attempt to recover the ball without killing the play. Our own phenom QB does the same thing all the time ... .. trying too hard to keep the play alive.

I do not like these games of "what if" that are played with absolutely no regard to the lightening speed at which things unfold during live action.

Why would anyone ever admit that? I get being candid, but good grief.

    For cripes sake.....

He didn't say #@!$ about injury. He said his legs were contorted. Allow me to explain what this means to all the fat, lazy loudmouths who cannot be buggered to buy their food from a restaurant without a drive-through.

If your ankle is planted and even just a few degrees in the wrong direction, you cannot leap to the ground without repositioning yourself. These things happen at the speed of lightening.

That's an oblong spheroid (football) which, for anyone that has actually played football, bounces with absolute unpredictability. Cam's legs are planted, he thinks it's going to bounce one way, it went the other way.

    Earlier on;

He completes the games longest pass while getting absolutely nuked by a defender with a  free rush. Afraid of injury? Get the hell outta here, plebs.

  4. Wade Phillips has more to do with Denver winning a championship than anyone else. His role is being sorely underplayed, as Bum's son has long been overlooked as the Belichick of defense.

John Elway has proven himself to be an aggressive, effective GM. He didn't waste too much time gambling on UDFA unknowns. He garnered proven vets like Talib, Ware, and Peyton Freaking Manning. Polian got ....uhhh....a guy named Booger once I think?

Free Agency is where it's at. Do like Elway. Go with Plan A, there is no Plan B.

  5. There's similarities here as well as distinct differences. Both elevated previously unsuccessful teams into the spotlight as contenders. Neither of them had off-the-field issues and were/are by all accounts wonderful, generous people.

But.... in sports terms, (fair or not) one developed a rep as a choker and the other..... well he did not. Quite the exact opposite really.

The fact that anyone reading this knows exactly who i'm referring to with the previous sentence should highlight how profound this difference is.

  6. I'll hop in.

I want him to get another ring for a variety of reasons. I'll start by saying I'm in love with the notion that the good guy sometimes wins, that sometimes the sports hero is an actual hero.

I've watched one of the greatest QB's to ever play the game, for my Colts team I might mention, for the better part of 20 years now. Through this icons career I've watched my own life change so much, I can barely remember a time when Peyton Manning wasn't a badass NFL prodigy. Watching him play has brought me many great memories with family and friends.

I've been a fan of the game itself longer than just a Colts fan, so I've become endeared to a number of teams since childhood, and Denver is one of those teams. A childhood admirer of John Elway and a close follower of the Broncos ever since.

    Go get 'em, Sheriff.

  7. Jules, you plucked the subtext out like an expert. I thought that little remark might go unnoticed for a bit longer than a minute.

Sorry for my rant above, but I miss many of my old friends here and every time I come here, find a subject I'm interested in, the thread has already devolved into mudslinging. Such a turn-off...really.

  8. We can make fun of men for always trying to be macho, but we can't make fun of women for always trying to be pretty?

Suck my big toe, social justice warriors. Learn to laugh at yourself and others and stop bullying people with your stick-in-the-mud self righteousness.

This is why I mostly lurk here anymore. Too many of you act like brats lookin' for an internet fight over literally every god flippin' damned thing.

  9. Can we strip 7 points from NO for getting that spectacular interception called back on an iffy defensive holding call on our LB? Can we strip more points away after that fumble recovery was stolen away from us on a NO TD drive?

Anywho.... it should be considered that the NO DB couldn't find his sea-legs because he was aboard the USS Hilton, a shifty and difficult breakout receiver to cover.

  10. We know what this guys skill set is, we've seen how incredible he can be. This whole team is in a funk and it's a dysfunction we've seen building for a few years now. For whatever reasons one may wish to attach, Bruce Arians was far more suited toward Luck's strengths.

It doesn't appear we're going to have a successful season, and with that will come a great deal of change. I would go so far as to say our QB is one of the few cores on this team we need to keep faith in and trust.
