Hey all, I am now living on the other half of our planet and can’t follow our colts quite the way I used too.. I have always loved the draft process even starting this early. I’d love to hear anyone’s thoughts on DTs that could potentially upgrade our DL which is where I think our weak link is. We need a dominant NT. So my question is: is there one we should be taking next year?

I think maybe he is reading a little into it. I think as far as QB play goes he is about the same as Aaron Rodgers but has a far better team around him. They both have a knack for making BIG plays. When either one of them get out of the pocket it’s game over.

My pick also isn't very popular but I think Nyheim Hines hasn't really shown me much..

I think we are still kind of in that Defnesive Rebuild. We keep getting 2nd round talent and building the base of the roster. I think in the future when the foundation is absolutely set we will see less draft movement and taking the BPA at our pick. Like Ballard said there were still some of his guys there at 26.
I think this is a great strategy by him for the next couple years.

If its between Hewitt or MAC... There is no chance for Hewitt IMO..

David Montgomery seems to be the best kept secret at RB in this years draft. I can't believe nobody is talking about this guy. He balls out!

So I looked on Sunday and saw that he was active but did he make any meaningful contributions to the game yesterday?

So I saw an article on Stampede about June 1 Cuts but it did not make mention of a ton of names. So my question is are there any Post-June 1 Cuts that the Colts could be looking closely at or you guys see us picking up?

Pound Cake - Edwin Jackson (RIP) and Jerrell Freeman might be some of my favorites

I didn't know he was a free agent..I like that move, it makes sense with Ballard..
Ya, with the cap situation it seems less likely that they are going to be able to keep him. He is coming off of injury so the jury is out right now as far as what is going to happen in KC.

I'm hoping that we can get a DE in FA like Dee Ford who isn't going to cost an arm and a leg but still has potential, much like what we did with Mingo last year. Ford had 10 sacks in 2016 so it isn't like he can't produce. I'm just hoping he can come back and produce after his injury. I think he could be a huge pick up for us and he is 26!

- I think that he was the sole bright spot on offense till Brisett entered the game. I wonder if the quick try after the clear TD by Pagano shook Mack's respect for him as a coach.. He wouldn't say in the post game interview but I think he is clueless as to why the coaches didn't review it.

How's everyone feel about Schwenke?

I was at the game today and during the 3rd quarter he got absolutely torched by the DE. He did get good push in the running game but struggled it seemed with the quicker pass rush..

Probably three years. We need three years of attention to the defense.
What we're seeing is a defense that will likely end up ranked somewhere between 25-32 at the end of the year. That's the bottom quarter of the NFL.
It takes a long time to build a good defense....
There are no short cuts...... you need talent and we don't have much on that side of the ball....
I agree. We need to draft defense, particularly at 1.OLB (x2), CB (x2), MLB (cover). But I still think that we need to upgrade the OLine, sure they are playing better this year but it doesn't hurt to keep trying to upgrade it right? If we have even more of an upgraded OLine then we can run the ball easier/pass block for Luck. I honestly think the coaches need to be switched out (lack of effort during key situations) but I think that Grigson is getting better at this whole GM thing (I know I might be blaspheming on this board supporting Grigs but idc), sure he had a terrible 2013 as a whole but I think that he has learned a VERY Hard lesson and look he has improved drastically. I think the 2014/2015 drafts he hit on a lot of the picks. We have a lot of rookies and we have been forced to start them due to injury.... JMO don't kill me

"Woah. This must be a dream or somethin.."

I would be all for re-signing Mike Adams if he still has a desire to play. He obliviously still has something left in the tank, and he provides good depth at a position it seems like we can't seem to keep healthy.. Not to mention he is a great veteran to keep bringing wisdom to the table.

It seemed like we had no trouble running the ball in the first half and then in the second half the Chargers seemed to be able to sniff out all of our run plays... Was it just good adjustment on their part or was it due to our O-line play? (I know Reitz left, but he hasn't played that great the whole season..)
-
I watched the first half of the game and saw Curt Maggitt do a little bit in the pash rush game but I saw that he gave over a few big runs that went his way. Did anyone see anything good come of him in the second half or previous?

Now we just need some LBs to fill out this upgraded defense! OLB/ILB I dont care anymore as long as we get some LBs.

I think CR91 is right is wanting a 1Tech DT. We really missed Woods early in the season. Having a big DT really helps out everyone else... if he demands 2 blockers every play then that means 1v1s for everyone else. And it means that the LBers should be more free to play in space. Having an interior monster helps everyone else... I will say that Stewart really come on as the season progressed and Autry maybe isn’t the long term answer at 3T but having someone good next to him should help him out drastically!
I haven’t had the chance to sit down and look through the the DT prospects but I think there is a good chance we take a DT round 1. I don’t see Ballard reaching for a QB even if we really need one this year. I think we will stick to value.
