I actually dont think this is a bad thing. Turay is soft against the run, and we might need more size up front to combat their running game anyways. Mariota is dangerous if you arent disciplined in your pass rush, and Turay isn't as good in that type of game.
I think you might be on to something. I’m a big Turay fan and injuries are a concern with him. For that reason I’d like to see him play but containing the run certainly hasn’t been his game.

I pretty much excluded first team guys, and left most of the rest.
If I excluded some, I'd hear "that guy isn't a lock" :-).
I agree with all the other guys There are others you could argue like Stewart or Muhammad but IMO Turay is as much of a lock as anyone on the DL.
-
You don’t think Turay is a lock to make the roster? I don’t see a scenario that results in him being cut. The same goes for Rock. We aren’t cutting either of those guys.

Right now unless someone is going to return punts Rogers will make it. Parris has been injured and was very shaky doing it. Hines hasn’t been very comfy either. Penny hart has a huge TD on a return but he has also been injured. We will see how Hines does in the preseason games.
Have we seen Fountain back there yet? He returned punts in the East-West game. He was the Offensive MVP of that game.

An Achilles injury has been the kiss of death for RB’s. I’m sure a lot of folks remember Vick Ballard.

Well, there was an article and I’m pretty sure it was something said by Reich that we may only keep 4 wr’s. Maybe it was the writers opinion, I don’t recall but it was stated with in the past few weeks. I too would think 5-6 but just going off what I recall. Step back from your high and mighty ledge buddy, it’s offseason and it’s a scenario that is for discussion
I would love to get a link to this mystery article. I follow the Colts and football pretty closely and I sure don’t remember any article ever talking about going with just 4 WR’s on a 53 man roster.

He led the league in Blocks. Complete bull.
It’s not complete bull there is more to playing D then going after blocks. Myles isn’t strong enough on the glass. He will have games where he gets 3 or 4 boards for the whole game. I’m sorry but an All NBA C has to be able to rebound the ball. That’s the part of his game that frustrates me the most and the big reason I’d be fine moving him if the right deal came along

Here is your fast secondary:
Hooker - Unk. - I'd guess in the 4.45 range
Geathers. 4.55
Farley - 4.50
Kindred - 4.50
Willis - 4.46 (per Ballard)
Odum - 4.45
Desir - 4.52
Moore - 4.47
Wilson - 4.54
Hairston - 4.52
Collins - 4.48
Rock - 4.48 (per Ballard)
Milton - 4.40
Taylor - 4.39
Tell - 4.52
Milton ran a 4.35 at an NFL Regional Combine then surprisingly didn’t stand on it and ran sub 4.4 at his pro day too. He’s pretty fast.

I thought about New Orleans potentially trading Jrue but ready over the weekend they want to keep him. They think that with him and their young talent they now have (and more after the draft) they can be competitive.
The Pacers would need to sign and trade Bogy which can't be done until free agency starts. (if I understand the rules correctly) I also don't think the Pacers would need to give up a pick. I don't think the Spurs have the cap space to sign Bogy without a sign and trade. Plus, DeRozan isn't THAT much better than Bogy.
If NO were to move Jrue because they want to go with the young guys. My guess is when they look at our roster they’ll be looking to fill the hole Davis left at the 5. I think they’d be looking at Turner or Sabonis.
The Spurs would need a trade to make room for Bogy. He’s a free agent so they could move DeRozan somewhere else and move in on Bogy.. It’s taken Bogy the better part of two seasons to get comfortable enough here to really play his game. I think he’s going to want to stay in Indy as long as we don’t try to low ball him. He should be our top priority IMO.
This is is going to be an interesting off season. We should have the opportunity to make some moves but there will be some tough decisions.
I don’t think we can expect Vic to come back and improve the team enough to be contenders. I’d like to see us upgrade PG and find a scorer off the bench. That may not be enough but it’s a start.

Apparently the last 3 teams for Mike Conley are Utah, Boston and Indiana
..and if the trade includes picks, it obviously must be made before Thursday..
Boston can offer the most if they know for sure that Kyrie is leaving
I’m not a big fan of trading for Conley. His injury history worries me. I do think PG is the position we must up grade this off season.
One would think New Orleans will want to move Jrue. He’s 29 yrs old and doesn’t fit with the youth movement going on down there. I’d love to bring him to Indy to play next to Vic.
Theres a rumor that the Spurs want to trade DeRozan for Bogy McDermott and the 18th pick. I am a big Bogy fan but that’s a deal we’d have to take a long look at.

It is amazing this thread has got almost 2 full pages. IMO, Kelly won't even be on the roster when the season starts.
Who said he’s making the roster this year? That’s not what the discussion has been about. The consensus has the PS being the best case scenario

Suh WAS an awesome talent.
If Suh was so awesome, how is it that all three teams who have had him have let him walk? Detroit, Miami and Lus Angeles all let him leave. Suh hasn’t been awesome for some time. He doesn’t even do what we want our players to do — play hard every down and give full effort on the field.
He’s not worth the money or the trouble.
This is a very good point. If you listen to Ballard he talks about the effort it takes to play in our system and the difficulty getting free agents to buy in particularly older vets. That alone makes it very unlikely that Suh plays in Indy.

I feel like people don’t give him enough credit. Of you watch his film he is literally always around the ball. Which is why he comes up with impact plays.
I agree Farley seems under appreciated on the board at times. Maybe because he was out the last half of the season but when he’s on the field he makes his presence felt. I see a lot of talk about him being a potential cut. I just don’t see that happening.

I found Ballard’s take on Campbell returning punts interesting. He mentions that he had returned punts early in his time at OSU but I can’t find a record of a punt return. Either way I am excited to see this kid give it a go. He has the tools to be explosive back there I hope he takes to a big time threat in the return game would be awesome

And yet... he may be let go at the end of the year... so all those nonsense accolades and empty stats mean very little. It's like saying RGIII was so much better than Luck (as nearly EVERYONE in the media loved to claim his rookie year). He won rookie of the year and made the playoffs. Big deal, he was a massive bust.
I don’t recall EVERYONE saying RG3 was better then Luck in fact as I recall most felt Luck would be the better pro. There were concerns due to RG3’s style and size that he would not hold up in the NFL. That’s exactly what happened he had one good year then ACL and MCL injuries at the end of his rookie season and he was never healthy again His career was pretty much done after 1 season.
Jamarcus Russell was lazy and lacked the motivation and drive to even test his talent on Sunday. He was never successful in the league just stealing money. It’s interesting that you can’t or don’t see the difference.
I don’t follow Jameson or the Bucs closely enough to know where he sits with the franchise. If he is in fact released unless he’s done some really dumb stuff off the field someone will give him another chance. If he can’t get it together that’s what is known as a waste of talent.

Only a number one pick can compete for biggest bust in history. I think Oaklands #1 QB may always hold that distinction, but there have been other flameouts of #1 picks. Winston in the end hasn't been much better though he lasted longer. Unless Haskins never steps on a field because he isn't even good enough to take snaps and gets cut in preseason, would he even be eligible in my view.
Seriously Winston hasn’t been much better then Russell? On what planet? I believe Winston won Rookie of the Year and played in the Pro Bowl after his first season. He was the first QB in history to put up back to back 4,000 yard seasons to begin his career and also was the 2nd youngest to 10.000 passing yards. He’s the youngest player in NFL history to pass for 3,000 yards 4,000 yards and 40 tds in a season. He holds other NFL records and has rewritten the Bucs books.
His career hit a bump after a shoulder injury in year 3. Then there was the Uber driver situation and suspension that accompanied it last year. He needs to get it together for sure. He hasn’t played a full season in 2 years.
I’m not particularly a fan of the guy in Tampa or while he was at FSU. That being said to say he hasn’t been much better then Jamarcus Russell is completely wrong. Winston has shown he has the talent to play in the league.

Not sure DI will make the final 53
My thoughts exactly and you hit on the reasons why. NE invested a 1st on Harry plus the guys returning will have Inman battling for one of the last roster spots in that position group. Typically at the back end of your WR group you want a young guy you are bringing along and someone who contributes on ST’s

I don’t feel comfortable counting on the same production out of guys who are at best third and fourth men on a dline rotation. I think it could end in an ugly result using an interior dline of Raheem Brock, Keyunta Dawson, Mookie Johnson, a string bean, and a random assortment of undersized rookies from powerhouses like Charleston Southern and Alcorn State.
You forgot Ward a guy who was off to a solid start last year before injuries got him. A 2016 2nd round pick of the Raiders seems to be a good fit in our D.
Lewis, Stewart or Ward are young players. It’s not unreasonable to expect that they get better with a year of experience in the new D. That’s what I would expect and I believe the staff does as well.
We are talking about fairly high draft picks that were expected to play in this league. Of the young guys two of the three were 2nd round picks the other a 4th. I think it’s fair to say not everyone sees them as the back end of the DL rotation.
The UDFA’s are not there to make anyone feel better. They are young guys we see traits we like so we are giving them a shot. It’d be great if one turns out to be a Randle as you said but we aren’t counting on it. They will have a hard time making the roster.
I am not sure why the pessimism when it comes to the IDL. We have young talented guys looking to build off a good season. They may not have the size you are accustomed to or names you are familiar with but they have shown week after week to be up to the task.

To me its a depth thing.......
One article actually had Ward moving over to man the 1 tech as part of the rotation.
(The article said he is up to 295lbs
That’s not surprising Ward weighed 297lbs coming out of Illinois. He hasn’t been playing on the DL very long. He made the move from WR/S while in Jr College. He has played inside and out so time at the 1 tech isn’t surprising. Quickness off the ball is why we like Hunt in there. I don’t think size is valued as much as some seem to think
-
As far as size inside we brought in UDFA’s that are close to 300lbs in Shippy 295 Thompson 284 and Robinson 292. We may still add to the group but I don’t think it will be Suh or any name that gets the board excited.
Ridgeway is gone but he rarely saw the field on Sunday. Woods probably won’t be back after a decreased role last year. Those two guys really had little to do with our front that was effective vs the run last season especially at the end of the year.
