So you're admitting that it wouldnt be a big deal if it was another team....but because it is the Patriots, the response is different?
Correct, New England gets no benefit of the doubt due to the game being a championship game and their history of cheating.
-
Here's the thing...and trust me I'm not justifying anything please dont mistake my comments for such....but this rule and the breaking of it is nothing more than a speeding ticket. Even the way it is written makes it seem incredibly insignificant.
Especially now hearing all the comments coming from former AND current players about what other stuff goes on and what they used to do with balls...I am honestly convinced that if this wasn't the New England Patriots, there would be 0% national outrage. This is going to spiral and become a 'victory lap' for everyone who hates the Patriots and perhaps that's well deserved...but lets be real here for a second, THIS is not what has made the Patriots so successful over the years.
But it was the New England Patriots. In a championship game. Under the same coach and QB that were caught cheating before. So Yes you are correct the outrage would be different if it was week 17 titans vs jags. But it's not.
-
He may but this is no way in the same ball park as bountygate .... or spygate for that matter.
coupled with spygate plus the fact it was a championship game....you are correct that no it's not the same ballpark, that's a little league field compared to yankee stadium
-
No just called perspective.
you learned it a long time ago because it was your team who wrote the book on cheating in the NFL
-
No sports org has integrity ... I learned that long ago.
This makes it ok guys.
-
That was true before this though. We have been living with the taint for 7 years. Honestly, it really does not bother me. Spygate was the most overblown story in sports history this millennium and obviously had minimal advantage given the Pats have now reached three SBs since. And of course the air in the football is minor as the fine is at the bottom of the barrel at $25,000 so it shows how much the league frowns on it which again is minimal and again not a huge advantage and not one that effected the outcome of the game. But still, very hard as a fan to see this happen again. Need to see the rest of the investigation before I comment further ... but not good for sure.
score doesn't matter. they made superbowls by cheating.
-
add Brad Johnson to the list of QBs to suspend (with Rodgers and Brady so far).
also, time to strip the Bucs of their Superbowl win
Everyone used those balls, not just the Bucs. Brady only used the bad balls and if you think he didn't know you're out of your mind.
-
Thanks Gramz. We will see what happens but this is terrible for the fans. And I do feel bad for Colts fans regardless of the outcome being a blow out. You should not have to lose a champ game under these circumstances.
not only your superbowls are tained, your coach and QB's entire legacy is tainted, no different than barry bonds or arod
-
Could care less at this point, nothing is gonna stop their train from rolling. Would love to see BB suspended though or even fired. Either way I take solace in the fact that even with a possible win next weekend, absolutely none of their franchise's titles are as legitimate as the other 45 that other franchises won.

Peyton gets ripped for his poor post season and the only person arguably better than him just got busted a second time for cheating in the post season, the one area which he had peyton beat. Wow
-
If the colts can't beat them on the field at least we get the pleasure of burying their legacy after all the heartache they've caused us over the years.
Peyton= GOAT
-
Then idk i remember reading about D'Qwell notices the ball funny.
Either way it's hilarious Pats fans using the "but he didn't get any interceptions this year how would he know what the ball is supposed to feel like" excuse like he didn't touch one since he left Cleveland...
-
I just bought a D'Qwell Jackson jersey, confirming another cheating offense under BB/Brady's tenure and tarnishing their legacy is great news that we needed. maybe now we won't be so scared when we play them. Either way, this is great. Peyton is goat 100% sorry Tbone

This thread has gone to 19 pages and we have gone over everything on the matter, perhaps it is time to close the thread and discuss other football topics.
The Broncos hired Gary Kukiak, anybody have any thoughts on the hire.
Go to that forum then. This is colts.com

I wonder if Bill Simmons is up writing "Brady vs Peyton Round 16" considering he just declared Brady the winner yesterday. At least we never cheated.
-
How about a bowl ban like in ncaa? Kind of like the one Carroll earned for his college team before jetting to the NFL. One year for each ball for every year BB coaches. No way to avoid that unless you wanna wait til your 70s for another legitimate shot again.
-
They would still survive fine but I definitely take solace in the fact knowing that not only the first three rings aren't legitimate but now the possibly fourth ring isn't. Bill needs to be gone no doubt about it. Most postseason wins? Most postseason passing records? All tarnished completely. Record books won't reflect it and neither will hall of fame consideration but now EVERYONE has definitive proof.Belichick should be suspended for the Super Bowl, and they should lose all their draft picks in 2015.
-
I just heard that on local radio and turned on ESPN. It will be interesting to see what else the NFL finds out in regards to this investigation.
It will be interesting to see what else is found but now we have confirmation that they in fact cheated.
-
So what's the punishment for multiple offenses?
-
What's several? 3? 4? 10?
And how do you know what is the normal amount for balls to be removed especially in bad weather conditions? I have seen games in those weather conditions where many balls are removed.
You were close...

Aaron Rodgers weighs in, http://espn.go.com/nfl/playoffs/2014/story/_/id/12201369/aaron-rodgers-green-bay-packers-upset-referees-take-air-footballs
Rodgers says there should be no limit to how much air is in the ball and refs usually deflate the ball more than he would like. Interesting stuff. Credits Manning for allowing QBs to doctor the balls the way they want.
That settles it then. We're good guys this guy's got it. Thanks

Big Question: How do you take the next step?
Indy has made small, steady improvements over the past three years. After drafting Andrew Luck, the Colts have produced three consecutive 11-5 seasons and have gone one step further in the playoffs during each of those campaigns. They lost in the wild-card round to Baltimore in 2012, beat the Chiefs before losing to the Patriots in the divisional round in 2013, and then made it past the Bengals and Broncos before losing again to the Patriots in the conference championship this season.
The good news is that Luck isn’t going anywhere. The Colts still have one more year left with his cap hold at a bargain-basement $7 million before the raises come. Luck will get a fifth-year option in the $15 million range for 2016 if he hasn’t already negotiated the biggest contract extension in league history by then. If the Colts want to make a big splash in free agency, 2015 would be the right time to do it.
Including rollover from 2014, the Colts are projected to have somewhere in the range of $40 million in cap space to work with this offseason. That doesn’t even include the likely releases of Ricky Jean-Francois (which would save $4.9 million), Donald Thomas ($3.3 million), and Shaun Phillips ($2.7 million), which would create nearly $11 million more in space. While the likes of Reggie Wayne, Hakeem Nicks, and Matt Hasselbeck are unlikely to be re-signed, there’s not a lot of talent going out the door, either.
The Colts need to add stars. This huge swath of cap space before the Luck extension gives them the opportunity to do so without crushing their cap in years to come. We talked on Monday’s podcast about Ryan Grigson and his propensity to give average players above-average deals in free agency, but the Colts can’t do that again. They have to shop at the top of the market and bring in impact players, and it has to happen now.
That starts at the absolute top. If anyone should consider giving Ndamukong Suh a $25 million base salary in 2015 to reduce his signing bonus and make his future cap hits more palatable, it’s the Colts. They play a 3-4 and Suh has spent his career as a 4-3 tackle, but he could be a J.J. Wattesque force as a 3-4 end. They need run-stopping defenders and pass-rushers, and Suh is one of the few players who can do both.
But it should be more than Suh. They should think about Devin McCourty, who would give them the coverage safety they lacked this year without Antoine Bethea. Brian Orakpo and Jason Pierre-Paul should be in play for the pass rush. Terrance Knighton would be the nose tackle Indy has lacked for years. Mike Iupati would combine with Jack Mewhort to give the offensive line a massive upgrade. And if Cobb, Dez Bryant, or Demaryius Thomas somehow hit the market, could you imagine what Luck could do if he had Hilton on one side and a top-10 weapon on the other?
This isn’t Madden. Indy can’t sign all of those guys. But the Colts are faced with a rare opportunity: They have gobs of cap space and a star quarterback who is contractually obligated to play for far below his market value. Seattle is one win away from turning that combination into two Super Bowl wins. If the Colts play their cards right and use their 2015 cap space as a bucket for big deals, they could very well emulate the Seahawks next season.
Position of Need: Front seven
I would be surprised if the Colts didn’t add one of the aforementioned top-tier weapons to their front seven, if only because they’re so obviously lacking up front right now. A subtler choice might be Pernell McPhee, who knows the Chuck Pagano scheme from his time in Baltimore. Grigson has exhibited a propensity for going with younger, under-the-radar free agents with perceived upside, which would make McPhee — who had 25 quarterback hits despite playing just under 48 percent of Baltimore’s defensive snaps — a likely choice for the Colts.

It's only being talked about by people who have no clue about the game of football, and only proof of fools.
Guess you know more about Football than Hall of Famer Marshall Faulk.
