thats only something that fans say, real teams do not go by that philosophy

4 other teams took backs in the second.  they still go in the first and second pretty much every year

Fans haven’t caused the obvious devaluation of running backs over the last couple decades.

And here I thought Tom Brady was good at reading defenses.

Didn't he realize that there was No Way that the Indy fan base would ever, Ever, EVER cheer for him?  SMH

meh, fans would cheer anyone who helped the team win. I would cheer for Brady if he was a colt....always seemed like a good guy.

When Melvin Gordon is a free agent and TB doesn't have to give up draft capital to get him, I see fewer reasons for TB to go after Gurley. Gordon comes with just as much potential with probably a cheaper price tag.

You could get Gordon for 3 years $36 mil. or something like that, eventually.

Why do people think Gordon is good?

Well I think some people, like myself, saw the very high talent that was going to be available at the 13th overall pick. Mainly guys like Jerry Jeudy, Ceedee Lamb, Derrick Brown, and Javon Kinlaw. That's why I'm a bit disappointed we couldn't have gotten Buckner for a little less.

But aren’t you  just hoping those guys can turn into a player like Buckner? Ballard just got the sure thing at age 26.

Lets not act like Winston isn't a winner, he lost 1 game in college and that was after winning a National Championship the year before. Even Andrew pooped the bed before, including in the playoffs.....as far as free agents o he is the most talented and likely moreso than any unproven college QB that we can draft in the 2nd thru 7th rounds

I wasn’t a believer in Winston coming out of college and I’m not a believer in him now.  Granted, he hasn’t had the best coaching in the nfl, but I always thought he came across as somewhat foolish.

    Luck - 6 years - 171 TDs and 83 INTs

    ........thru 5 years though: 130 and 70

    Winston - 5 years - 121 TDs and 81 INTs.

Not a whole lot of difference there actually.

The lasik has to help AND Ballard/Reich have already stated INTs are not always the QBs fault in regards to scouting. Mentioned Allen and Love specifically but can be used to scout a pro as well.

I'd give him a 4+ year contract as is.

Not much difference besides that whole putting a team on your back and leading them to playoff wins thing.

As I said in another thread here... if we indeed plan on keeping this defensive scheme I agree, but I have a sneaky suspicion/hope that we will be incorporating much more man-to-man coverage in the future. My hope is that the current defense is constructed in this way because of the general lack of talent and the youth of our defense this year(Tampa 2 is much easier on young/inexperienced players). When Ballard got Ed Dodds who was one of the scouting gurus behind Seattles' cover 3 scheme talent acquisition and then he spent a 1st round pick on Malik Hooker who is the prototypical single high safety in the Earl Thomas mold in the cover 3... I fully expected us to build this team more and more towards that type of scheme rather than somewhat outdated Tampa 2. Hell, even Wilson makes much more sense in a press-man scheme than in zone. I am still holding out hope that with the better talent and more experience we will start incorporating more press-man coverage, if not fully switch to Seattle style cover 3. If that's the case IMO Greedy will be a tremendous acquisition.

I have been hoping the same thing. Fingers crossed

the jets are not doing that much better after taking darnold.  they have a better defense and an easier schedule helping them out too

the giants need an oline more than they need a qb too.  Barkley has been doing well despite the line

It wasn't a knock against Barkley.  You don't start off a rebuild with a RB.  I'm afraid Barkley is going get a lot of miles put on him the next few yrs ....and it will be in a lot of losing efforts.

Here are my Mt Rushmore's for these great franchises:

    Colts - Manning/Harrison/Unitas/Marchetti - I went 2 and 2 with Baltimore

    Patriots - Brady/Belichick/Hannah/Gronk

    49ers - Montana/Rice/Lott/S.Young

    Packers - Lombardi/R.White/Hutson/Favre

    Cowboys - E.Smith/Staubach/Lilly/Landry

    Steelers - J.Greene/Bradshaw/Noll/Swann

-I labeled them as I would choose them in order but all made my Final 4 regardless.

Swan wasn't even the best WR on the Steelers.  Stallworth, Lambert, Ham, Franco, Webster > Swann.
