I am optimistic Bridgewater will be ready sometime in 2017, hopefully week 1.  His case is serious, and if he was an RB or WR, I'd be dubious of a return in 2017 before mid season, if at all.  QB is a little different, and especially a run first Vikes team.

Shaun Hill can step in, but Minn needs a backup to him to keep the playoff ship sailing.  My call would be to Tampa Bay to get Mike Glennon (not Sanchez, Not Geno Smith, not A. Murray, etc).  If they want too much, I'd be ringing the Browns up for the availability of McCown.  Between the two you should get through the season and in decent shape.  If not Glennon or McCown, the possibly get McCarron form the Bengals.  If you can't get one of those and you have to get a Kaepernick, or Sanchez, EJ Manuel, Geno Smith, or a Mettenberger.... well... good luck with that. And, sorry.

Here's hoping the best for the Vikes and Teddy in his recovery.

I read that he could have lost his leg in this type of injury.  This was a non-contact injury. Would this not suggest it could happen again? Do you know any other players who have come back from this?

"Source confirms tibiofemoral dislocation, ruptured ACL for Bridgewater. 'Trainers may have saved his leg and career by quick action.'"

Yeah it looks like he will make a full recovery and be back next season which is great news. He is very young too so that helps. When Paul George had his gruesome injury it was scary and put me in depression mode for Basketball season in 2015 but he made a full recovery and looks like old Paul George. How are you doing today NFLfan?

I am doing much better. Thank you and other Colts fans and QwizBoy for the support. Teddy must be very well-liked. We have had fans from all teams leave very thoughtful messages and well wishes on The Daily Norseman, our SB Nation site. We appreciate them.

I watched some of the game the other day in the new stadium.  The Vikes had me picking them in the top echelon of not just the NFL...but the entire league.  Sad for you and all Vikings fans.

Thanks. That is high praise there. :)

Yeah, while I told everyone that I was not getting my hopes too high, I was so optimistic. I think we can still do well , but I am concerned for my QB. It is hard for others to see what he brought to the team. HE brings so much more than numbers. He clearly is not a FF quarterback but he is a winner. He is only 23; so I am hoping that being so young gives him a better chance of making a full recovery and playing again for us.

This is exactly my thoughts.  Bone heals and they went straight to the hospital...I need to read down to find out what it was.

It is a complete ACL tear and a dislocated knee. Pretty bad. However, the head trainer says there is no nerve or arterial damage. He says he should make a full recovery. Let's see what happens

  5. I did not write this but I could not write it any better. Many Vikings fans are feeling the same:

"There is nothing but heartbreak for me, as a huge portion of the excitement this year was rooting for Teddy — the kind of old school athlete that warmed my heart, the individual player who I was really rooting for to succeed and excel for my team. Now all of that joy is gone, and in the void is fear of a potentially career-ending injury. It doesn’t fit the definition of a Greek tragedy, but as far as NfL fandom goes, this COULD BE about as bad as it can get — the one defeat for which the words "maybe next year" don’t work.

It is hard to imagine a more cruel turn of events for Vikings fans. At least for this particular fan."

Good advice Jared. Let's just wait & see what the X-rays & medical experts in Minnesota have to say first.

I wish the best for him too NFLfan. Just think good thoughts & let's not even ponder Bridgewater's quality of life yet. Way too soon to go to worst case scenarios at this point. Let's see what we're dealing with exactly first or Teddy rather.

To the bolded, I see what you did there, SW. Lol.

But seriously, it is hard to laugh and "just think good thoughts" when reports are coming out that your beloved starting QB sustained a "gruesome injury" and teammates were throwing up at the sight of it.

But it will get better. Get well Teddy!

i didnt think he'd have a lot, MRIs usually take an hour on the knee roughly, i think mine was right at that if i recall, then you have to get it read, which takes even more time, and assuming with who he is, the team orthopedic doctor will also be consulted.  I bet we'll hear more later tonight or in the morning.  Unless he's already in surgery, then you're looking at minimum 4 hours if its just a simple (as simple as it could be) ACL.  Not a doctor, just know from experience......

Thanks. It helps to read this.

Sometimes fans have to remember HIPPA laws cover players as well.   If Teddy is sedated he can't give consent to release specifics of the injury.   I'm guessing it's a compound fracture though.   Sucks for that kid,  I like him

Yeah,  I appreciate that. I work in the industry and we have to adhere to privacy laws. Still, that does not take away the fans' desire for information. We know we have to wait, but we are concerned for him, more than we are for the season (at least at this time). We love the kid. This is awful.

I worry that this might be similar to the Napoleon McCallum injury.

  9. Well, Zimmer did not share much information. He just said Teddy suffered "a significant knee injury" and he was currently sedated and getting an MRI. Vikings fans all around are upset and want to know the extent of his injury. We will have to wait for that. I will just assume it is season-ending.

Vikings also released our long-time center John Sullivan. I will root for Sully wherever he goes. I hope and pray that he does not go to the Patriots. Lol.

Zimmer is going to speak soon. Might get a little more info.

He will speak at 5pm. I am almost home; so I will see the press conference.

The news from reporters there is that Teddy was taken away in an ambulance from a trauma hospital. Sounds very serious.

I am hoping for the best. I am now more worried for his own future and quality of life than that of the Vikings' season. The team will be okay.

I'm so sorry about this NFL Fan, I've never seen an ambulance get called in practice, in fact, I've only seen an ambulance a couple times watching football at all. I'm genuinely scared for him right now as this is unnatural and I don't know what to expect. Lets hope he didn't destroy his knee. My prayers are with Bridgewater.

Thank you. That is what everyone is talking about. Why the ambulance? I am going to go back to the Vikings site to see what Mike Zimmer has to say.

@NFLfan hoping for the best, sorry to hear

Thank you. I am praying for the best but the news from everywhere is that it is very bad. Thankfully, I have the afternoon off; I would not have been able to work once I read this an hour or so ago.

Going to take a long walk in Central Park to clear my thoughts.

Booing him makes no sense. It does not help him kick field goals better. It is more likely that it will adversely affect his confidence. He is a rookie and rookies make mistakes. Give the kid a break.

This kid did not ask to be drafted where he was. If anyone should be booed, it should be the ones who drafted him in the 2nd round.

2 more seasons?  The Vikings had Seattle beaten in last year's playoffs if their kicker makes a chip shot in the final seconds.  Lots of talent in Minnesota.

Wow...Lots of love here for my team... I agree with you. I would be disappointed if it took two more years to get to the NFCCG.

The Vikings make it to the NFCCG

:D From your fingers to God's ears. I won't get my hopes up too high but I am optimistic.

  16. I read this earlier today. I posted something on a Vikings site about it. Gil Brandt believes Treadwell has the second best chance of winning Offensive ROY. Fellow Vikings fans and I all believe Treadwell has no shot. Teddy spreads the ball around and our offense is one of the few that still emphasizes the running game.

Zeke has the best chance to win ROY because of the Cowboys elite O-Line. But I will take Sterling Shepard.  He looks great in camp, according to beat reporters and Giants fans. Also, Victor Cruz is expected to take a step back, if he plays at all.

I would respectfully disagree with this....

If the NFL really wanted this to go away,   it would go away.    The players have submitted sworn affidavits that the claim is false and nothing happened.      But they don't want to set president about accepting sworn affidavits being acceptable.

What's important to the NFL is that the commissioners broad powers be upheld and recognized by the players.   That's what's important to the league.     So if Goodell says come to New York and talk to me,   they expect the players to go and talk to the commish.      They don't want the players to hide behind the NFLPA.

This is an issue for the league,  whether the players want to acknowledge it or not....

Okay. I don't disagree with you. We just expressed our points differently. The Commissioner wants to show that he is still in charge. What I meant to convey is that as long as the players give their interviews, they can go about their business.  I dont believe there will be any punishment unless the players refuse to meet with the NFL.

I don't believe that there is really an investigation, but the NFL must do their due diligence to make it appear that they have done an investigation and conclude that there was no wrongdoing. JMO.

Yeah but wouldn't players also go at it harder, now that they aren't playing against their own teammates? How many times in TC have we heard of somebody getting a 'would be' sack on Luck? If it was a guy on a different team, doubt he pulls up/eases up.

I had the same thoughts. Throughout training camp, I have read tweets from reporters and bloggers at practice, saying "that would have been a sack". So, I have the same concerns you have  (the bolded).

Today and tomorrow, the Vikes will practice with/against the Bengals, then play a preseason game against them. I am concerned that someone like Vontaze Burfict will hurt one or more of our players. The guy has no self-control.
