  1. You're not getting Pitts. You need to replace Xavier, no? Patrick Peterson was not bad last year.
  2. Thanks. It seems everyone needs OTs. Go out and get Armstead -- you have lots of cap space. Do you have positions on defense that you want to improve or fortify?
  3. Besides WR and QB, what other positions were you hoping Ballard would address during this free agency period?
  4. I think you will get it. Baker is not staying in Cleveland. He is a former #1 draft pick who has heart and has won before (in college). He wasn't just on a team that won-- he was a big part of why they won. I like him. I like guys that show leadership. He does.
  5. Lol. I don't like to pay for free agents. We have not had great QB play in a while but I would not be in favor of signing Brady or Manning in their prime. I did not want us to sign Favre. I want to win with my players, not other teams' players. Trades are okay.
  6. I am not a fan of his. I would rather pay someone who won't break the bank. I cannot think of anyone but I am sure there are many.
  7. I heard this is a good draft for WRs. This is just my opinion but I would not pay big money to a free agent WR unless they are already playing on my team. I will pay Justin Jefferson and Adam Thielen but no way am I paying James Washington or that free agent from the Chargers (Mike Williams?) big money to come here. I would rather draft a WR. Rookie wideouts seem to perform well. Diggs was great for us as a rookie as was Justin Jefferson. The only wide receiver that I may pay for is Deebo Samuels. I am a big fan of his. He always plays with heart. He was great in college.
  8. Ok. I was just saying that he seems like a Ballard-type guy. He is not a star. Ballard is not in a hurry to sign stars like OBJ. Who else is out there? Julio Jones is a star. AJ Green. I love Emanuel Sanders but I don't know if he is available.
  9. He is among the top free agents. I am not a fan of his but he is not as bad as how you seem to describe. You like Sterling Shepard? I would not mind my team signing him.
  10. Marquez Valdes-Scantling seems more like a Ballard type guy. He is still available.
  11. Thank you. He was too young -- only 67. He was commenting on football about two weeks ago.
  12. I disagree. Of course he wants to build a Super Bowl team, but his approach is different from what the fans want. Most fans seem to want dream teams. Ballard does not. He will not let fans or moves by other teams deter him from what he wants to do. That's a confident GM. Give him time. Would you prefer the Jaguars GM (Trent Baalke) who signed several high-priced free agents?
  13. I thought the name Loudermilk sounded familiar. Lol. I started following football in the early 90s. I think he may have played when I first became a Vikings fan, but unless he was was John Randle, I would not remember him. Back then, I mostly followed the skill players. (I know Jeff George well. Lol) Chris Hinton played with the Colts before playing with the Vikes. He was not a skill player, but I always liked him. Reagor's son plays WR for the Eagles, no? Had the Eagles taken Justin Jefferson instead of Reagor, Reagor (son) may be playing for the Vikings. Thanks for the history!
  14. I have been following the NFL for 30 years now. Free agency period always interested me although I don't want my own team signing high-priced free agents. I used to listen to Chris Mortensen and John Clayton a lot. They were always reliable sources of information. I read yesterday that Clayton had died after a short illness. Rest in peace, John. You will be missed.
  15. Was he a high-priced free agent? I am thinking that he must not have been. Yes, I knew he was here only one year. My friend is a long time Giants season-ticket holder. When I told him back then that Hankins had been cut and was not on any team for a while, he was shocked.
  16. I am a big fan of Adam. Along with John Randle, he is among our best undrafted free agents.
  17. I am surprised that not more teams vied for his services and that he signed only a one-year deal. Was he injured?
  18. I had asked the past ten years -- I think Grigson signed several high-priced free agents. Which GM acquired Jonathan Hankins? So far, Frank Gore seems to be the best of the signings that have been mentioned.
  19. Would you sign Jeff Gladney? He was a first round pick. In his draft two years ago many folks here thought he would be a first or 2nd round pick. (Vikes picked him in the first round. He was cut after an off-the-field incident.)
  20. I was referring to free agent veterans. I was trying to illustrate that paying a lot for free agents that are not already part of your organization often does not work out. The Colts players acquired as free agents that have worked out well are low-priced ones. The high-priced ones have not worked out. (The return on investment has not been great.)
  21. Thank you. I prefer signing low-priced guys. (I think I would appreciate Ballard as GM.) Stokely is a good one. Chad Bratzke, that is a name I have not heard in a while. He played for the Giants. I am not familiar with Wilford or Loudermilk. I believe I remember Reagor. I prefer trading for players, as it seems that guys who are traded pan out better. One of your fellow Colts fans mentioned Vontae Davis.
  22. As I mentioned earlier, this free agency thread has been here all along. I moved all the Rodgers and Adams comments from the Wentz Trade Thread to here. Most of the comments about Watson were moved here too. I left the comments about the Colts and any QBs that the Colts may trade for (Jimmy G, Mayfield, Ryan, and some Winston ones).
