  1. Not a great day to be celebrating a birthday... Thoughts and prayers for all those who have lost loved ones in these senseless killings the past few days in Dallas, MN, and other places.

@shecolt Thank you! You sound a lot like @TheRustonRifle#7. Both of you and others here are positive thinkers. We need more of that.

Haven't been on much at all lately.  But, I hope you had a fantastic birthday!

@radiogirl Thank you. I wish YOU a happy and memorable birthday. Enjoy it!

  2. Prince, a fellow Vikesfan, would have celebrated his 60th birthday today, if he were still alive. I think his halftime performance in Super Bowl XL1 was the best I have seen. And who won that Super Bowl?

    Continue to rest in peace.

I didn't follow Prince much, but have to admit he gave an outstanding halftime show.

      RIP.

Prince was one gifted individual. Very underrated musician. He wrote some great songs that were made famous by other artists. (Manic Monday/Bangles, Nothing Compares 2 U/ Sinead O'Connor, Stand Back/Stevie Nicks, How Come You Don't Call Me Anymore/Alicia Keys, With This Tear/Celine Dion.....etc.)

One of my favorite halftime shows & an even better super bowl.

Cool Prince post @NFLfan! It makes me fond of this cover by Jeff Beck & Beth Hart. I swear to God this woman can sing anything & make it her own.

Happy belated 60 Prince! It's a shame you're no longer around anymore.

Good luck to your Vikings this year! BTW, I was glad to hear that former HC Dennis Green will get inducted into the Minnesota Ring Of Honor at the stadium as well. Well deserved honor indeed. :hat:

  3. Sad day in Vikings land. Former Head Coach Denny Green has passed away unexpectedly. He was the head coach at the time that I became a football fan. The teams were talented and I loved watching them. We never made it to the Promised Land but I appreciated the football nonetheless. Thanks Denny. May you rest in peace.

Just heard this & was coming here to post. Sad news indeed. I believe he was only 67 or so as well.

      RIP Denny Green

  4. So happy for Villanova and the Big East. A few years after the Big East was dismantled, they are once again winners of the tournament. Congrats to Nova, the players,  the coaches and the Big East!

They were easy to root for. They don't have the most talented team and they seem humble. Their best players are juniors and seniors. It was a great game and Nova deserved to win.

A great Cinderella ending for Villanova that's for sure. Wow!

  5. Teddy is back!

    After nearly 15 months since

sustaining a near career-ending injury, Teddy Bridgewater will be activated and moved to the Vikings roster today. He won't play right away but I believe he will play this year.

To commemorate Teddy's return to football, enjoy this video from B/R. Hopefully it shows here. Otherwise, watch it on YouTube. (Andrew makes an appearance in the video too.)

Love it. Laughed out loud at the line about LA now having a team & a half.  I really hope Teddy comes back better than ever. I picked him up a couple weeks ago for my FF. I'm stashing him till he's ready to go. (my league is QB heavy & my current QBs are awful)

I hope Teddy bounces back and has a solid career.

  6. The coin flip to determine the Colts' and Vikings' draft position takes place today at 12:30. Let's hope the Colts win the toss. A Colts win is also a win for the Vikes.  The Vikes' first pick will be either #46 or #48.

"the loser of the coin flip will own the No. 46 pick in the second round instead of No. 48"

    RIP Prince

I met him one time.  He came to our station before a show.  He was the most humble, kind, and sincere man.  He was a bizarre and complicated genius.  I think that's why he is probably my favorite artist of all time.  Truly a sad day when he passed.

@radiogirl, I know I loved rock n roll growing up but liked him, but he did rock with his guitar play. I never watch the SB halftime show but I did when he played Purple Rain during our win.

I've met a lot of people in my life and encountered so many musicians, 2006CB, but he struck me as special.  He was so gifted musically.  A sharp wit with a pinch of sarcasm.  Honestly, I think he was one of the most brilliant artists out there.  He wrote SO MUCH music in such a wide range of formats and styles and his performances were among the best.  He will truly be missed.

  9. You once told me that you liked this song. I heard it yesterday and found this live version of it. It is a great song.

Btw, hope you had a Happy Father's Day with your lovely daughter.

    And how about this one?

    I love 70s music.

Good call on the soothing sounds of the 70's NFLfan. I couldn't agree more.

Happy belated Fathers Day Out There to all the dads. Here's hoping you all got something more than a tie, toolbox, grill, or set of golf clubs. Unless you actually wanted those things. LOL!

  10. Changing my avatar for the first time. Hopefully I am not jinxing the Vikes. Hoping for a win and no more injuries.

I like your new avatar NFLfan! I'm expecting big things from Mr. Bridgewater this year. Minnesota will regroup from the 49ers game & be just fine. Trust me. SW1 is sold on Zimmer & Turner.

Thank you for the words of encouragement. That was an embarrassing display last Monday night. :( I may have to change the avatar again if they have another clunker against the Lions this Sunday.

All the best to you and the Colts.

No worries NFLfan. I like you Purple People Eaters squad a lot. INDY got embarrassed too vs Buffalo as well so I tend to view situations longterm [a marathon vs a sprint kind of thing.] The Vikings have nothing to fret over. Remember, that was the 1st time AP & Bridgewater were on the field at the same time. Keep your avatar. It's a good omen for Minnesota's future success to me. Every team has growing pains right now. Thanks 4 your kind words as well. :)

  11. Feeling blessed to have celebrated another birthday with dear friends and family. This birthday was even more meaningful and special...Happy birthday to all the other July babies here.

Ditto, my dad and I argue at times over issues being in different generations and views but he's a cool guy deep down in the end who can be hilarious too.
