  1. Yo make light of this situation, this does not rule out Brock Bowers at 15 lol.
  2. Also not sure what to do with Darius Robinson. He grades out as a 9.64 RAS as a DT but 6.26 as Defensive end, which is where a lot of people project him.
  3. You are correct about Wilson. It’s the 30 inch arms which are super short for a LB in general, but even more so for a Ballard LB. Chop is an elite athlete. I just don’t know how polished he is, and Ballard would have to take him round 1, which I don’t see happening. This is not really a good safety class. Like at all. I truly think safety needs to be addressed in FA. I like the guys you mentioned with McKinney and Whitehead. I’d also look at Jeremy Chinn from Carolina. I listed Oladapo because he’s a Ballard fit (team captain, Senior, good RAD), but you’d draft him day 3 to be a SS/LB hybrid, which is needed in todays game. Think Deone Buccannon. I actually forgot about Mitchell. He should be added to the list.
  4. Hello all, Now that the the Senior Bowl and Combine have come and went, it’s time to narrow down the prospects that will be fits for the Colts and have a higher chance of being drafted in April. Going in to year 8, Ballard has shown and explained his blueprint for drafting players, and it’s becoming easy to see what guys will be guys he targets. Last year everyone honed in on JuJu Brent’s as a Ballard type and sure enough, he was picked. A lot of what Ballard likes has been nicely laid out by Zach Hicks in his yearly Build-A-Ballard series. It hasn’t dropped yet this year so I’m going to lay out a couple of guys that will be good fits IMO Im skipping TE since to me it’s Bowers or Bust, as well as QB since we have AR Ballard’s Player Preferences Regardles of Positions are usually: -Elite RAS score -Senior Bowl Participants -Good character -Team Captains -Produced in college Offensive Fits: WR: Note: He values WRs that can block and have good size (6 ft+) 1. Rome Odunze, Washington 2. Brian Thomas Jr., LSU 3. Tez Walker, UNC 4. Xavier Legette, South Carolina 5. Ryan Flournoy, Southeast Missouri State RB: 1. Dylan Laube, New Hampshire 2. Michael Wiley, Arizona 3. Issac Guerendo, Louisville IOL 1. Cooper Beebe, Kansas State 2. Mason McCormick, South Dakota State 3. Tanor Bortolini, Wisconsin 4. Zach Frazier, WVU OT 1. Kingsley Suamataia 2. Patrick Paul, Houston 3. Frank Crum, Wyoming 4. Garret Greenfield, South Dakota State Defensive Fits: Edge: 1. Jared Verse, FSU 2. Marshawn Kneeland, Western Michigan 3. Eric Watts, Uconn 4. Brennan Jackson, Washington State 5. Jalyx Hun, HCU DT/NT 1. Kris Jenkins, Michigan 2. Braden Fiske, FSU 3. Ruke Orhorhoro, Clemson 4. Maason Smith, LSU 5. Gabe Hall, Baylor 6. Khristian Boyd, Northern Iowa LB: 1. Edgerrin Cooperx, Texas A&M 2. Cedric Gray, UNC 3. Trevin Wallace, Kentucky 4. Curtis Jacobs, Penn State 5. Jordan Magee, Temple CB Note: 32” arm length is preferred 1. Quinyon Mitchell, Toledo 2. Cam Hart, Notre Dame 3. Khyree Jackson, Oregon 4. TJ Tampa, Iowa Statge Safety: 1. Tyler Nubin, Minnesota 2. Kitan Oladapo, Oregon State 3. Beau Brade, Maryland That’s all she wrote, thanks!
  5. I work in Central Jersey but my manager is from Mt. Laurel which is South Jersey. Lincoln Financial is 20 minutes from his house. So yeah lots of Eagles fans. It’s Eagles, Giants, and Jets. Once you get to South Jersey it’s like all Eagles though lol. What I know from our talks at work is that the Colts are in very good hands with Steichen and Eagles fans miss him lol. They feel Sirianni is just a puppet.
  6. The Ballard rule is while you can’t have a roster full of exceptions, you can have 1 or 2 if everything else is elite. Moore is 5’9” but had 32” arms. Mitchell’s has 31” arms but his testing is elite everywhere else. 4.32 40 yard dash with a 38” vertical. 9.75 RAS. I still think receiver is the play, but Ballard would make the exception for a guy who may legitimately be the best corner in the draft. Especially when the exception is over 1”.
  7. Well Quinton Mitchell has 31 1/4 inch arms so I’d say for a guy who is elite everywhere else, you could make the exception. I believe Ballard’s rule is if they don’t hit the bench mark in one area, they gotta be elite at everything else. He talked about how Kenny Moore was shorter than they like at 5’9”, but he still had 32” arms. Mitchell has close to a perfect RAS so he’d be fine. But agree with you on the long corners. I’m going to have a topic out today or tomorrow covering the best prospect fits for the Colts at every position based on what Ballard likes. You’ll see what the options are at corner.
  8. I think it’s easier than most think. Pittman is t really elite at any one thing, but mostly just solid good at everything. Any receiver with good size that is elite in any one category would likely be better. For example, Nabers is a way better separator. Brian Thomas Jr. is much faster with elite speed. Odunze is a far better contested catch guy. MHJ (although I’m lower on him post combine) is better at everything. It’s just what it would take to get said players.
  9. Yes. They didn’t go 1-4, but 3 QBs went in the first 3 picks. Everyone was just way off on Levis. Idk if there’s a Levis this year, in terms of a guy who is going to get projected top 5, but actually go on day 2. Williams, Maye, Daniels, and McCarthy are all better prospects than Levis.
  10. It still almost happened though. It ended being QBs at 1, 2, and 4. I could see a few trades happening and QBs going 1, 2, 3, and 4/5. Chargers are a prime trade down team IMO. It will depend on how FA goes. It was just announced that the Broncos are releasing Russell Wilson. He will join Tannehill, Cousins, and Minshew as intriguing FA QBs for teams looking for a veteran starter. But the possibility of 4 QBs going early supports the idea that Ballard probably won’t trade up. Theres going to be some elite player that slips to 15.
  11. I actually have removed him from consideration from the Colts because of the tackling issues. Especially now that he weighed in at 173. He’s too thin and too uninterested in tackling to play in a Cover-3. If CB is till on the table at 15, for me it would need to be Arnold or Mitchell.
  12. Out of all the WRs, his character is the best fit for the Colts. I think that’s why that connection is being made. I honestly see MHJ as a bit of a diva, despite who his dad was. Talent wise, there isn’t anything that MHJ can do that Rome can’t, and didn’t do in college.
  13. Same. He didn’t even trade up to make sure he got AR. If there’s one thing we know about Ballard, there’s certain principles he stands on. Him not trading up in the 1st is like Howie Roseman never drafting a LB in the first round. I just think Ballard is so particular in what he and his staff like that they’re never worried about someone taking their guy.
  14. I hope it was just typical coach/GM speak. I would like to believe that Ballard is growing as a GM. Part of that growth should be realizing that betting all your money on back end of the roster guys who were late picks or UDFAs is not a winning formula. You can have Rodney Thomas, Ashton Dulin, Eric Johnson, Jaylon Jones, etc… on the roster but they can’t be your solutions for every question. Ballard seems to smart to believe that one UDFA WR change your offense. Grigson tried that strategy and it failed. Ballard is a lot smarter than Ryan Grigson.
  15. Bowers and Pearsall to go with Pitt, Downs, and Pierce would be a great group of pass catchers.
  16. Yup. I’m thinking Freeland was his day 3 traits based backup/swing tackle last year, and a guy like McCormick could be the same but on the interior this year. Probably gives you center and guard versatility. It also fits Ballard’s new strategy of drafting and also gives you a high floor. While he always values RAS, it seems last year he started taking guys who were athletic but raw on Day 3 as opposed to day 2. Freeland, adetomiwa adebawore, and Darius Rush were all taken on Day 3. That’s were I think Mason should go. Early-mid 4th round.
  17. Yeah one of the reporters talked to him and said he told them he like to get a feel for the players size and movement ability up close. Shows his dedication.
  18. I know no one watches the OL stuff but I’m really intrigued by Mason McCormick. He’s a guard from South Dakota State who was at the Shrine Bowl. Played really well there. Only thing is he weighed in at 309, so maybe he’s more of a center than a guard but if he can play both, that would be great. 3-time team captain too.
  19. I said this before the combine and I’ll say it again now. You can’t trade down and get a guy like BTJ. Other teams will like him too. The Colts aren’t the only team who want a big speedy receiver. Our divisional rival Jags for example. They’d also love to get a guy like him In sure. If you like BTJ you take him at 15. The guy just ran the 2nd fastest 40 for WRs and measured in at 6’2”. That will not last untill pick 25 or so.
  20. After his attitude at the combine, MHJ is WR3 for me, so I’d agree with that sentiment. I think Nabers is better and Odunze can do everything Marv can do and I think he’s more competitive.
  21. Time for a little update on these guys that I pointed out before the start: Keon Coleman: His RAD was still high but his 40 time was disappointing. Although some have pointed out that his MPH during the gauntlet drill was as high as other guys that ran faster. Still im skeptical Kool-Aid McKinstry- Definitely a stick down guy. Measured in at 5’11 despite being listed at 6’1” by Bama. Also found a Jones fracture in his foot so he didn’t get to test. Brock Bowers- Passed the measurement check. 6’3” and 242 lbs with 32 inch arms as well. The Kittle comparisons are valid Quinyon Mitchell- Boy did he ever live up to the hype. 4.33 40 and a 38” vert. No one has had a better pre-draft process than him. Kitan Oladapo-Testing looked good, not great. But that’s fine. I think an 8.3 RAS is fine. He will be a SS/LB hybrid who sees a lot of work on 3rd down. Ricky Pearsall- Some team is going to get a steal. I had no idea he was that level of athlete. 4.41 at 6’1” is a great time and he was top 5 in every other metric at the combine for WR. Sick 3 cone too Javon Baker: Big disappointment for me. Was average at just about everything. 4.54 is just okay. I see why he falls to Day 3 on simulators TJ Tampa: Didn’t test. Still dealing with a hamstring. Measurement check was passed though. Almost 6’1” with 32” arms at 189 lbs Xavier Worthy: 165 was probably by design because he wanted the record, which he got. In the NFL he’ll play at 175. Brian Thomas Jr.- Checked every single box. I don’t really care that he’s not 6’4” because no one ever is lol.
  22. You could make a case based on tape, testing, and character that he’s WR1. DJ has him as his number 3 overall player, but said he’s his favorite player in the draft.
