Yeah, T.Rich, did he get Lasik surgery or what???

If you're saying did they botch Lasik surgery, then I'd be inclined to agree. I don't know if black visor helmets are legal anymore, but if so, they should give him one. At this point, we may as well not hide it.

I just don't get the whole developmental league thing. The NFL already has several "developmental leagues" -- like the SEC, Big-10, Pac-12, etc.

True, but something tells me Alabama isn't going to let Trent Richardson back into a uniform, so that's like comparing apples to oranges.

All AAF players are on three-year, $250,000 non-guaranteed contracts, and their first year’s salary starts at $70,000.

Sounds like a pretty good gig to me. I picked the wrong career path!

Trent Richardson ran for 91 yards and scored the winning touchdown against Salt Lake. He looks more fit and in shape now.

I'd like to see more games for a bigger sample data. Richardson's expertise is brute raw strength, which is also why he did so well in college -- his opposition was undersized. Now we're placing Trent in a development league and suddenly we're surprised he's doing well? I'm not biting yet. You put me into a game with a bunch of old ladies and I can make myself look strong, too.

And the players get $75,000 a year and health coverage?

…...AND a chance to showcase their game for the NFL the next year?.

..With 2 games a week on the NFL Network, that means the NFL is subsidizing this league, right?

..and what a blessing for the NFL Network.

I mean. How many times can you re-run 'A Football Life - Matt Hasselbeck"   or keep showing the 20 greatest games of 2018??

Agreed. The fact the NFL has its blessings and routinely is posting news about it on their own NFL website is huge. Big names in the business are helming it, including Hines Ward and Bill Polian. I like Kurt Warner also reporting on it.

It's marketed as a developmental league; NOT a direct competitor, which I think is huge because the AAF knows it can't compete with the NFL anyways.

Also, it's worth noting since the collapse of the original XFL, fantasy football has expanded a lot more, so that might give people a motivation to root for teams/players when money's involved.

  6. I find it an interesting coincidence they settled once the AAF unfolded to good ratings. I imagine Kaepernick knew he was going to get hounded with questions like, "If you feel teams are refusing to sign you, then why not play in the AAF?"

Nevermind the fact he turned down the Broncos, but we're not supposed to know that.

Wow I was a firm believer in the curse for years.. I can't keep up with the new maddens anymore. although i didn't get to brady last year, I believe the curse lives on!

It my opinion it did get to Brady. One day, during a routine practice session before the Superbowl, his hand came down hard on Rex Burkhead's helmet, giving his throwing hand the nastiest cut I've seen. Warning, slightly gross:

Brady said, "This is it. This is the way the season ends." Considering how close the Eagles game was, I have no doubt that might have affected the game's outcome if it meant him missing even just one pass completion he would have made.

  8. The only issue I have with the AAF is the defenses are only allowed to blitz a maximum of five guys. I understand what Barry Sears said above, but does this mean this is a temporary rule until teams can get acclimated to their coaching staff and the speed of the game? If it's for safety reasons, then I find it ironic they allow these hits on the QB:

So I don't know if the AAF is trying to promote more safety or less, lol.

I believe he's 43. His wife wasn't pleased. She tweeted an angry response pointed toward the Falcons & how he will come back & beat them in another uniform.

Now imagine when the Patriots trade or release Tom Brady (after that SB performance, it might be sooner rather than later). Giselle will be complaining more about how her husband can't throw and catch at the same time.

Yeah, I agree that Belichick is a great coach and will probably keep winning 10+ games and make the playoffs even after Brady retires.

Well yea, he did it with Matt Cassel, so the proof is definitely there. I'm not saying Brady is bad; just mediocre. Belichick could turn Jay Cutler into a legend and we'd all be singing how handsome Cutler is.

  11. There were also a lot more pocket passers during Freeney's days. I'm not convinced he'd have as much success today, especially because he had Robert Mathis lined up on the other side.

What Darius Leonard is doing, however, is just ridiculous. I know it's a team sport, but at times, Darius looks like a one-man-wrecking crew. Even in that Kansas City game, he gave us a chance to get back into it with that force fumble; good players making big plays at critical moments.

I think they avoided fast tempo bc they couldn't sustain drives but Pats were, at least much better than them. McVay didn't want to gas his D like had happened to many Pats opponents in recent seasons.

Sure would have fooled me with how often the Rams were going 3-and-out. It's a miracle both defenses played as well as they did.

I heard about this on golic and wingo.. if you think about it.. it was just a home game for the Patriots. The Rams have no fans anymore since moving.

The announcers were noticing that when the Rams were on offense, the stadium was loud. With the Patriots, it was a lot more quiet. Also, at one point, even thru my TV, I could hear chants of "Brady Brady Brady" in the 4th Q, and the announcers picked it up as well. Yes, a very pro-Patriots crowd, or perhaps should I say an anti-Rams crowd.

Had the Saints been playing, I think they would have had a lot more support. Drew Brees is such a great guy, and I know the city of New Orleans would love to bring the Lombardi back one last time before Brees hangs it up.

Coaches should know how to gameplan Better than us Fans. And they do know better But look stupid because they are suppose to look stupid to lose(especially against patriots).

The problem is the coaches are out-thinking themselves. The Falcons kept throwing the ball late when they should have been running to chew clock, the Seahawks didn't run it with Lynche at the 1-yd line, the Colts did that bone-headed special teams play that they forgot to have everyone practice for, the list goes on.

At some point, common-sense has to prevail. The fans have that going for them; the coaches do not. For example, in the Russell INT, the theory is the coaches didn't want Lynche to have the ball because management didn't like him. In that case, the coaches gave up on X's and O's. I don't know of too many Seahawks fans who would say, "Don't give the game-winning ball to Lynche because he's a jerk."

  15. I know it was the Rams offense that lost this, but I just find it comical Tom Brady was looking to Edelman as his first read and the Rams were oblivious to it. On one play, Romo even mentioned they put a LB on Edelman!

Edelman should have been priority #1, NOT Gronk. Gronk is not the same player he once was due to injuries. Not to take away from Gronk's awesome catch late in the game, but the Rams should have forced Gronk to prove he can be a consistent threat by challenging him to make catches in simple 1-on-1 man coverage.

Gronk is slow and needs extra time to get downfield, which would have given the Rams d-line more time to get after Brady. Cover the shifty guys, like Edelman and Hogan first, then worry about Gronk later. If Gronk puts up numbers, only then do you start double teaming him.

  16. Two basic things:

1.) Conditioning. The Patriots excel at playing 60 minutes of football, and a lot of that is attributed to their "boot camp" training regime. Purportedly, this training is so intense that it scares signed veterans into retirement, such as Reggie Wayne (he denies it) and Joseph Addai. It's regarded as a team that is "no fun."

2.) Coaching. Belichick is both the GM and HC, providing him increased flexibility in team management. With good coaching, you can overcome the parity the NFL attempts to drive into teams by being efficient at drafting, creating sound gameplans, and motivating players to take paycuts with a winning culture.
