  1. It funny how yesterday we made moves and everybody was so happy, now that "nothing" is being said people are chomping at the bit questioning whats going on.  Its like this every season though.  I'd rather be prudent then be like the browns or jags and win free agency every year.

I feel like we are going back to the ways of Polian (in a sense) less big splashes and more building from the draft.  Polian did good things that way.

Thank you for the kind words. I'm not a guru, I just do research.

And to your point about listening to other people, it was two posters on this very site -- back in 2012 when the Manning stuff was getting ready to happen -- that helped me get a good handle on the way the cap works. Since then, I've been a junkie, but without those two guys, who don't even post here anymore, I probably wouldn't understand what I do about the cap.

I remember them too.  Everybody would come to them with cap related questions.  They would break it down in normal terms too.  i'll think of their names randomly sometime while i'm at work this week and post em

  3. Considering we are starting three rookies on the rightt side of the line yesterday, I honestly don't think they did "too bad" but whats more upsetting to me is the left side.  Castanzo has simply regressed badly, Mewhort. . . I don't know if the bad LT play is making him look bad?  Castanzo has gotten worse every year since he's gotten his contract.  Our whole Oline is a disaster, Luck wont make it through the season if this doesn't change.

The offensive line is a dumpster fire

  4. I have two leagues.  This is the second year I have commished this league and its a 20 buyin winner take all.  That team is:

    8 team

    qb: Newton, Luck

    rb: stewart,hill, gordon,yeldon

wr: Hopkins, Cooper, Benjamin, Edelman, Sanders, Treadwell,

    te: kelce

    k: gostkowski

    def: cin

my second league is a dynasty league that is its first year.  This league is my project league:

    12 team

    qb: Newton, Rothlisberger, Gabbert

    rb: Mccoy,Matthews,Duke Johnson, Yeldon,West

wr:dez, amari, davante, vincent jackson, Treadwell, dorial-green beckham, ginn, garcon, robert woods

    te: Kelce, Allen

    K: gostkowski, mcmanus

    def: LA

We have 22 spots and at the end, I was just over it at the end of the draft.  It took two hours and my power went out during the draft.  Thats how I ended up with two K's

Could've had Dixon, Howard, Perkins, Williams, etc

again why when there will be more talent next year?  stating names isn't a point being made.  If you can give me sound reasoning why then we can debate it, otherwise your just upset that they aren't picking the way you want?

We have Gore, Turbin, Varga, Todman, Williams why waste a draft pick on them when you can still garner talent along the lines or on D?  Plus we have UDFA and cuts.  Why waste it?

  6. and what has gore done to show you he's close to dropping off?  With a re-tooled line it will help tremendously.  Also we still have udfa, post june cuts, again drafting a rb this year is not smart

  7. I have seen several posts on here as well as twitter and other various sources saying we need to draft a rb?  Where is this coming from?  I really don't get it?  Outside of Elliot the rb class is medicore at best.  Next year is the year we draft our replacement for Gore.  Next years draft will be rich in the way of rb talent.  This year; as shown by the draft thus far has been about protecting Luck and adding to the D.  IMO those were are biggest areas of weakness.

Drafting a rb this draft would be the epitome of wasting a pick.  Stockpile both sides of the line thats what this draft should/is about.

I think this has been a great draft for us, doing what many fans have been clamoring for.  Now that we get it, people are still complaining.  The draft isn't a sure thing anyways please keep that in mind.

  8. Yeah, if he really wanted the money, he'd be with Drew Rosenhaus by now. Yet and still, he's probably gonna be the highest paid player in NFL history in terms of yearly average, and he'll probably have a league-record guarantee also. And we'll still get off easy because it won't be $25m/year.

    fixed it for ya.

He's the biggest leach out there IMO. . . sucks TY has him for an agent.

Completely off-topic but i'm a "senior member" i feel important!

    Thanks guys!

  9. There are a lot more than u that are torn.

For what it is worth, "breaking news" here was that Kraft standing down has nothing to do with Brady's situation. We see how things pan out.

I am not at all happy with Kraft standing down as I wanted him to fight this issue. However, I do respect the fact that he did not want to break up the league and essentially sue his other owners, I think only Al Davis has done this in the past. The NFL puts the owners in a tough situation, once one owner sues then what happens down the road with other owners. If all owners don't sue then the league can maintain cohesiveness by knowing other owners will not sue.

I was not happy with the fine imposed, but it is what it is.

Regarding Brady we will see how that things pans out. Brady always had a fight regardless if the pats were still involved with their appeals. Although the Wells report exonerated the pats, there are still accountable, imo, vicariously liable for actions of their employees not matter how low on the food chain.

For me Brady has always been another matter, all the Wells report found was that he was "generally aware" of the situation. I think it is tough to suspend someone for this type of action. Its one thing with the pats as its their employee, but Brady for me sits on a different footing.

It will be interesting to see what Brady does. For me I hope it takes it the full nine yards and we can get fuller picture beyond the Wells Report. time will tell.

I'm sorry but your comment of the NFL putting the owners in a bad situation is just a feeble attempt to deflect. The entire fault of this lies at the feet of the Patriots. It is there fault for the negative reputation they have created for themselves. From spygate, to the insane formations, to now this. When you play with fire, you are bound to get burned. Play within the rules and these things are perceived differently. Nobody to blame but themselves.

  10. Did some reading last night... I was 100% wrong!

The texts and other evidence Wells compiled was far more compelling than I had anticipated, mainly because of the summary judgment, Kraft's response, and other factors we've heard over the past 100+ days. If anything, "more probable than not" was an understatement. I would have pegged it as "highly probable."

So, mea culpa. Objectively speaking, Brady has to be suspended at least for the opener. I would not even protest to something in the range of 4 games. Beyond that, might be a bit excessive... the $25K team fine that's the "on the books" guideline for punishment for improper footballs has to be considered (as it's pretty mild, relatively speaking), but Brady's real mistake here was not owning it. The league will likely come down on him for that more than the actual footballs.

It sucks for us Pats fans, but it is what it is. To ignore things like one of the guys referring to himself as "the deflator" would be asinine. I'm a lot of things but unreasonable usually isn't one of them. (Though the missus may disagree there...)

The crazy part, which is almost exactly like Spygate, is the "why?" He clearly didn't need an advantage, however minor anyone may think it is, against you guys. He played lights-out against an extremely good defense in the Super Bowl with the cleanest footballs in the history of the sport. A softer ball gives you slightly better grip, resulting in improved accuracy for some throwers, but it takes velocity off the ball. With the give-and-take nature of it, and the possible consequences, and the team's history/reputation fallout from Spygate, it was very foolish of Brady to push the envelope.

There are still some holes in the story for me, but I don't think they would change the end result. It's my hope that the Patriots or Brady will come out with something here to try to get final closure on it. The best cure, of course, will be to go out next year and tear it up, and to try to show the world that "yeah, we pushed the rules for an advantage, but we're still the Patriots and we're still going to beat you up." Maybe in the end, this serves as motivation for them to go out there and try to destroy every team in their way. We'll see, I guess.

One of the hardest things to do at times is to admit when you're wrong. I'm doing it here, and Brady should too.

You deserve a standing Ovation from this forum, it takes alot of character, integrity, and class to post what you did.  Well said man!
