  2. I was at the NFL Combine this year (and it was AWESOME) and to me Stephen Hill stood out head & shoulders above the other WRs. Granted Jeffrey and a few others I wanted to see didn't fully participate, but after seeing Hill there, I have wanted the Colts to get him. I think he'd be a great WR with Luck.

  3. I like Rodriguez, but not at #97... I say take Orson Charles (if he's there) there and Rodriguez at #170 (I think he'll still be there) other than that... good mock..

I was actually thinking about that, but wasn't sure if Evan would last or not. I had Charles in that spot first, but picked Evan because of his abilities as a FB.

  4. Ok, trying another mock.

Rd 1 (001) - Andrew Luck, QB, Stanford

Rd 2 (034) - Stephen Hill, WR, Georgia Tech

Rd 3 (064) - Jamell Fleming, CB, Oklahoma

    Rd 4 (097) - Evan Rodriguez, FB/TE, Temple

    Rd 5 (136) - Nicolas Jean-Baptiste, NT, Baylor

Rd 5 (170) - Rhett Ellison, TE, USC

Rd 6 (206) - Asa Jackson, CB, Cal Poly

Rd 7 (208) - Omoregie Uzzi, OT, Georgia Tech

    Rd 7 (214) - D'Anton Lynn, FS, Penn State

Rd 7 (253) - Chris Rainey, WR, Florida

    Let the ripping begin. :)

  5. After some of the moves this last week, I am modifying my draft a little.

    My Draft Picks

1- Andrew Luck, QB, Stanford - Obvious pick regardless of the hype of RG III (both will be good, but Luck will be that much better)

34 - Coby Fleener, TE, Stanford - Gives Luck his security blanket and one he is comfortable with.

64 - Jamell Fleming, CB, Oklahoma - Solid coverage CB

97 - Brian Quick, WR, App St - Gives us a WR to develop into #2

136 - Hebron Fangupo, DT, Hawaii - Gives a nasty NT

170 - James-Michael Johnson, ILB, Nevada - Colts get a fast, hard hitting LB to groom into a starter, will be ST beast

206 - Asa Jackson, CB, Cal Poly - Need more bodies in secondary to guard against injury

208 - Omoregie Uzzi, OG, GA Tech - Need more bodies on O-line

214 - Chris Rainey, WR, Florida - Speedster on ST returns, kick-offs

253 - Mason Cloy, C, Clemson - Mr Irrelevant, no reason offered (lol)

I only changed a few spots, but after reading others, I realize TE & CB are the top 2 needs after QB.

  6. This is the first mock draft I have ever done. I did some research and checked multiple websites to check other drafts before doing mine. I'm going to put their picks first, then mine below. I highlighted players who were picked in different rounds so you know I didn't repeat myself.

    Round 1 - Pick 1

    Andrew Luck, QB, Stanford

    Round 3 - Pick 64

    Round 7 - Picks 208, 214

Omoregie Uzzi, OG, GA Tech, Larry Black, DT, Indiana, Chris Rainey, WR, Florida, D'Anton Lynn, FS, Penn State, Brian Peters, S, Northwestern, T.Y. Hilton, WR, FL Int'l

    Round 7 Comp - Pick 253

Lennon Creer, RB, LA Tech, Mason Cloy, C, Clemson, James-Michael Johnson, ILB, Nevada, Trevin Wade, CB, Arizona

    My Draft Picks

1- Andrew Luck, QB, Stanford - Obvious pick regardless of the hype of RG III (both will be good, but Luck will be that much better)

34 - Janoris Jenkins, CB, N Alabama - We need a CB to pair with Powers

64 - Alameda Ta'amu, NT, Washington - We get our NT

97 - Orson Charles, TE, Georgia - Luck will need a safety valve against the rush

136 - Michael Egnew, TE, Missouri - I think we'll be running more, needing more blockers who can also be a receiving threat

Hope you appreciate the work and don't destroy me too badly! I wanted to get a WR earlier, just didn't see the value versus need.

  7. I don't think we need to invest a draft pick in a RB. I think the Colts will keep Addai as the starter (until Brown shows he can be the lead back as he should happen this year), Brown and Carter. Don't forget Evans is on the practice squad. I think he'll be on the team this year. The RB situation is in good condition and should use the draft picks on DT, SS, CB, OL.

  8. Wheeler, Gonzales, Vinatieri, Hughes, Painter, Orlovsky, Lefeged and Diem

The ones in bold are the ones I don't agree with. Wheeler has been better than expected, not sure why the hate on him. Vinatieri would have to be a cost cutting measure, because he's been solid. Orlovsky should be back b4 Painter is, and Lefeged needs work knowing when to bring a kick out of the endzone, but otherwise has been a good player for the Colts. Hughes, I would like to see used like Farrior or Willis (pass rushing LB, specialist), but he could be replaced. Gonzalez, Painter, and Diem I couldn't care less about.

  9. You are in denial. It is one thing to support the team's management but to ignore reality is troubling. Gonzales is a bust, if nothing else because he can't stay healthy. No NFL player get a "do over" either they play or they don't play. It is very telling when Gonzales was a healthy inactive AGAIN in Sunday's game versus the Titans and he has been a healthy inactive several times in the past. He is currently the lowest WR on the Colts chart. He is yet another first round bust.

Jerry Hughes is a huge bust and a waste of our 1st round pick. The guy simply cannot play NFL level football. He has not performed well in practice and certainly not in games. Did you see his missed block on the punt block? He has been a healthy inactive many times for a team that uses off the street players (Brayton and Anderson) as backup DEs. If he can't beat out these two stiffs for playing time, he doesn't deserve to be on the team.

Donald Brown is a lightweight, dance in the hole instead of being a straight ahead runner. He lacks the vision and power to avoid tackles and never break tackles.

Ask yourself the following question - would these first round busts (Hughes, Brown or Gonzales), all a product of the Polian genius factory, even make the roster of another NFL team?

I believe Donald Brown is still a good running back, he's just not the primary back everyone thought he would be. Instead of pushing a square peg into a round hole, I wish our coaches would utilize the players to their strengths. Donald Brown needs better blocking upfront to run between the tackles. I think we should use him like Reggie Bush was used in New Orleans (swing passes in the flat, the stretch play, etc). Jerry Hughes should be moved into LB hybrid in the mold of Urlacher (not saying he's as good as him), but let him use his speed in blitz packages, so opposing QBs don't have enough time to pick apart our DBs. Speaking of blitzes, I thought Coyer was brought here to be more aggressive, what happened??? Gonzalez is a bust, in the same regard Bob Sanders was a bust! I know Sanders was DPOY (yada, yada, yada), but he was injured WAY TOO much to be worth his contract.
