  1. ....as a long time Colts fan, I have to say that this team is reaching new lows this year. First, the fans, who always gave Pep Hamilton a hard time, even after three straight 11-5 records, helped the front office get rid of him to bring in this new, obvious downgrade to the Offensive coaching staff, an easily identified instance of  pure racism. Now, the front office keeps the ball rolling by getting rid of the only black player to join the Colin Kapernick first amendment right to criticize this racist country protest gesture, a country that in protesting his right to protest.... supports fascism, in practice. The Spiritual death of this organization is complete.

  2. Pep offense was overrated.  The stats were good on paper, but 3rd down and redzone offense was terrible.  The stats were overblown because we put up big points in our division.

Yep. Top 6 or 7 ranked offense in the entire NFL and red zone offense and 3rd down gets him fired. When you're a top tier offense, you don't even GET to 3rd down or many red zone offensive sets because you've scored from many yards out regularly. Big play offense, which is what the fans were clamoring for when Pep came in!

  3. I just feel that Pep Hamilton was never accepted by many fans during his tenure here. Even when things were going well, he rarely was given credit, yet when things went the other way, he was usually blamed. The Colts record and overall offensive stats the past three years weren't to the point where the offensive coordinator was justifiably released. The teams' EXECUTION this year was the culprit, mainly at the quarterback position. That shows that although he was the main person in Andrew Lucks life that was familiar with him and best able to bring out his talents, he still was never accepted by the majority of people here, but made the blame for all that ails the team.

And now, for him to be scapegoated for the crimes mainly of the GM who, as an offensive lineman himself in his playing days, continues to whiff at bringing a competent offensive line to the team, THE BIGGEST FACTOR in why a good play call is only as good as its execution, is cowardice, at the highest level. Until the management understands what Honor really means, they'll be struggling from now on. Sad commentary on Indianapolis Colts Football.

  4. It's not just the Patriots. Manusky has been bad for a long time now. This past game just pushes it over the edge.

Well....what about the Denver game? Or the Bengal games? They just don't count as a positive for Manusky, huh.

  5. As easy as it is for people to blame the coaches for this debacle and the previous three under Coach Pagano, the fact is that the Patriots simply are in the Colts heads. Total self confidence exuded by each and every member of their team is what they always bring to each game because they truly believe they can handle the Colts physically. Meanwhile the Colts "hope" they will win, want to win, are anxious to win. But, until all 53 players on the squad truly BELIEVES they can beat this team, this will not stop. The current coaching staff still haven't been able to correct this problem. The Patriots players aren't bigger than any other team that the Colts play, the scheme isn't any more superior to any other schemes the Colts have faced. The MENTAL aspect of the game is THE most underrated aspect of how the Patriots continue to dominate this team the way they have.

Additionally, the Colts response to these losses aren't very conducive to remedy the situation. They just accept that they are the inferior team and throw all the cliches about how the Patriots just out-played them, or explain what the Patriots do to make them play bad. Mentally tough teams or people, for that matter, don't do that. Winners talk like they believe in themselves even after they lose. And they also believe that eventually, they are gonna beat the enemy down somehow, some way. Until these Colts, staff included, get like the kid who gets tired of the bully taking his lunch-money EVERY freakin' day, and get mad and punch that bully in the mouth HARD, the bully will just continue to lose respect for the kid and bullies him more. The bully doesn't stop bullying until the kid punches the hell out of them and makes them back off. Then, the tables turn. Once the bully gets that fat lip or bloody nose, he starts hesitating a bit, starts making mistakes. Then, the lil kid gets on top and starts pounding and pounding the bully for all the times he was bullied in the past until the final gun sounds. Its a positive emotional state. This helps feed the driving motivating force that gets them over the top. They can do it. They just need to recognize the mental aspects and work hard to remedy it.

  6. You're absolutely right. No one is crazy simply because their opinions differ from someone else's. They are crazy when the explanation of their opinion makes no sense.

The crime Rice committed and the one OJ committed are not in the same universe. I can make that statement. There is enough documentation in the public arena, including the actual broadcast of the OJ trail, for a person to logically conclude that both committed their crimes.

But what is NOT logical, is to conclude that the punishment, (not the verdict), given to Rice was too light... because the only thing anybody has seen is the video. We did not see any defense testimony like we did in the OJ trial, so our basis for criticizing the judicial system's (light) punishment is not supported.

We have plenty of evidence to conclude that the punishment (and even the verdict) for OJ was too light. We don't have enough evidence to conclude that the punishment for Rice was too light.

Yet many ignore that and continue to pass judgment on the adequacy of Rice's punishment. The degree of punishment was the basis of the chatter for weeks. Its not logical.

Yes, I stand by my original post. Many in the public arena are more concerned about grandstanding for a social cause than they are about being fair to an individual.

Understood, and I get that. However, I referenced the O.J trial only because perception is in the eyes of the beholder.  There was logical evidence presented that cast doubt as to the guilt of O.J. But, most people in America CHOSE not to even consider any of that evidence because they wanted to believe in their own preconceived notions, etc. And in our system, you're innocent until proven guilty, beyond a reasonable doubt. If you CHOSE to consider ALL of the evidence, and not just the circumstantial evidence presented, most rational people would say there was reasonable doubt, which the jury agreed upon.  So, according to the system, who were the crazy ones? The ones that factored in ALL the evidence like they were supposed to? Or the ones who wanted SO BADLY to believe in their own prejudices and NOT the system? Its all a matter of perception. Or opinion. So, you are free to have and stand by your statement or opinion. Anyone else is free to do the same for theirs. I was just stating that the name calling wasn't particularly necessary. Have a great day and lets root for the Colts to take the AFC South this weekend.

  7. OMG, its not even remotely close to OJ. OJ planned and intended to slit his wife's throat. Rice didn't even intend to knock her out. He intended to punch her, for about 2 seconds right before he did, because they were arguing, and accidentally knocked her out.

Ok. How about the other way. How about if she didn't get knocked out, should we treat the situation that he could've knocked her out?

If someone is driving 100 mph, should they be treated like they lost control and wiped out 4 people?

Its pretty obvious that most on this forum are not qualified to administer law.....but they try anyway...which is the essence of my point.

And to the broader point....people that actually DO commit manslaughter get to pursue meaningful lives after they serve their time...they should not be shunned by the public.

    This forum is crazy.

Hey, how about it everyone just calm down and stop the name calling. No one in the forum, or the entire forum, isn't "crazy' just because they differ in opinions from someone elses'. That's what happens in democracies. For instance, you aren't crazy for your comments about O.J. due to the fact that O.J. was actually EXONERATED of the Murders he was charged with, so by the law of the land, he didn't plan or intend to slit his wife's or anyone else's throat. Only PUBLIC OPINION allowed people such as yourself to make those comments and state them as fact, which was never proven. So, lets just keep this conversation civil and about Ray Rice's possible football career in reference to the Colts. JS

  8. Ray Rice is a viable option at RB right now given the state of the Colts injury situation. Ben Tate and Lagarrett Blount were considered here in this forum. However, proven backs such as the 2012 MVP of the NFL Adrian Peterson and now Ray Rice have been judged in the court of public opinion as being unworthy of redemption due to the controversy they would bring. an additional argument being age. Neither is too old to continue to be productive since we see Darren Sproles, who the Colts haven't been able to tackle effectively for years still going strong at 31.  AP is 29, Ray, 27. Why are these individuals incapable of being forgiven after one offense when people such as Ben Roethlisberger can be forgiven for MULTIPLE transgressions? smh Check the link to research what I'm getting at.

  9. I completely agree!  Our troubles are due to inexperienced interior lineman.  Nothing can change that but time.  When Shipley was in we had better run blocking.  I think coaches want Harrison in there because they are bent getting a promising young guy.  The only problem I have with it is our run game could be a little better.  Not a big fan of Thornton, I wish D Thomas wasn't always injured.  Mewhort will be great in time.  Cherilus isn't having a very good year, but him and Castonzo haven't been killing us.  Certainly nothing impressive from our O Line.  People insist Trent is the problem.

Well, Trent is part of the problem. IMO, he seems to feel that the line isn't very good, so his confidence is down causing him to be tentative. Boom hits the hole like a RB should, full of confidence and expectation to make something happen. That just doesn't show in Trents play. If all the RB's that go in with the same OL gain more yards than he does, it says something about him. I really feel that a lot of his issue is between his ears. Confidence and the mental aspects get overlooked a lot.

  10. One correction...Freeney was never cut. He became an UFA and the Colts chose not to re-sign him.

I think a lot of fans at the time hated the fact that he actually played out the final year of his contract for ~$14 mil when there were cheaper options that would have given the Colts more cap space to spend on upgrading other areas of the team.  That was compounded by the fact that the ~$14 mil was spent on a guy who all of a sudden became an experiment.  Could he convert from a 4-3 DE Speed rusher to a 3-4 Rush OLB?  Personally, I have a feeling Irsay had a hand in Freeney playing out that final year. He'd already gone through the backlash from cutting Peyton...I don't think he wanted to deal with cutting Freeny in the same offseason.  That is absolute pure speculation on my part though.

anyway, bottom line is that I think most fans got over the loss of Freeney before he was actually gone.  Many wanted him gone a year before.

As for the love affair some have with Whalen....that I cannot explain.  He's not horrible but he's no world beater either.

  11. Lucks mental lapses aren't what's hurting this team right now. The defense and the run game are. Granted, when it comes to playoff games, Luck doesn't have a very good record so far of making sound decisions all the time, so in that regard, I'd agree with you. But talking about this year? Run game and defense are much more important fixes for the time being.

IMO, it all comes down to the guys in the trenches. Imagine the possibility of the OL blasting holes for whoever the RB is. And Andrew being given all the time he needs to find all the weapons he has all day and comes out of the game relatively untouched. Then on the other side of the ball, what if the DL dominated and took away the running game no matter who the opponent was. Thus, giving the solid secondary we have a chance to do their thing. If that actually happens, the Colts chances are as good as anyone else's.

  12. Somewhat flawed IMO, though a very deserving MVP winner that year,

He's going to be 30 coming off a season of not playing football, now you can say he bounced back from his knee injury but it really does seem like the drop off hits at that age. That's before we weigh in contract value relative to the others let alone the heat that comes with the pick up. Success of course makes for short memories when it comes to indiscretions.

Put it this way, I wouldn't want to take him on his current contract.

Well, that may be true, but I'm sure he knows that hes not worth his current contract and will understand that in the negotiations with any team that does take a serious look at him. But, as far as a year off from football, he came back from a career threatening knee injury before his MVP season. It stands to reason that he can deal with the lack of PT and be a great player again. Darren Sproles, a player our defense STILL cant tackle, is older than AP and no one questions his ability. But, sound argument if you look in terms of the possible downside.  But, the upside is better, IMO. Thanks!

  13. Yeah I don't know if I am a fan of this move... not just because I am the president of the "Griff Whalen for League MVP" Fan Club... but I am also a member.

LOL.  I just feel that the Griffer had more value than just a sure handed PR/ KR.  Any time he was on the field as a WR he always seemed to be in the right place for Luck to hit him and would catch everything thrown his way.  I am not saying he is a game changer but he was solid and reliable.

Sad to see him waived.  I hope he comes back after Allen comes back,.

Until then i will wear a black arm band with #17 on it in honor of the Griffer.

This is a very interesting phenomenon. I remember coming to this forum when Dwight Freeney was cut. And there was hardly a comment at all about it. Whether we all knew it was going to happen or not, the fact that the guy was, at the time, the best colts DE in terms of sacks. I'd never seen so little regard or respect for someone that provided such significant impact to this team. Yet when this guy gets cut, three pages of objections, lamentations and love pour out to him, which is so wonderful. But, really, what did he actually do at ANY time FOR the Colts organization to warrant such adulation? And why was Dwight's departure given so little attention by the fans here? I'd really love to see some logical explanations for that one.

  14. Adrian Peterson is no Ray Rice, but yes he has some garbage.

But still, what he could bring to our team and what kind of player he is, and most important, he played with a chip on his shoulder as he wants to prove himself for a new team and the whole world as a better man.

Yes there are issues regarding him, but I can't find anyother RB like him in the league that would be a better fit for the colts.

Marshawn Lynch is good, but I don't think he would be a good fit in Indy.

DeMarco Murry, well we can't get near him, but if to choose between those three, I would still Pick AP.

  15. Instead of answering a simple question, you get defensive.  Interesting.  You're right, I don't know you....and you don't know me and I suspect you don't know the other posters here either.  So my question was legit...how do you know what he has to show for his 10 years in the mental health field?  Seems like a wild assumption on your part based on absolutely zero evidence. ;)

BTW, climb down off of what? lol

  16. some people have a bad case of little man syndrome, on here they become cyber bullies and it makes them feel like big men, so expect to come under fire from the little ones, I just don't reply to them and it works for me.

Thanks, man. I should have known better. My bad haha

  17. Wow, someone has a HUGE chip on their shoulder. Your experience can have some cursory overlap with a team sport but thats about it. I actually have coached a team sport, not football, and have coached teams in the business world. However, I would never even suggests that means I know better how to coach or motivate a NFL team better than those actually doing it.

As for my respect for the Military, or lack thereof according to you, once again you show that the truth is you actually have no idea of my level of respect for the Military. Let me educate you at least on that subject. The truth is that I have many family members and friends that have or are currently serving in the Military. Currently a cousin is in Walter Reed hospital recovering for more than a year from injuries he received when a RPG landed a few feet from him while he was serving in Afghanistan. My advice to you is to stop acting like you know sooooooooo much more than anyone else or that you know how someone feels or motivates or thinks etc. unless you actually know the person or are closely involved in the situation. Not that I expect you to take constructive criticism.

haha Dude. Why did you pick me, among MANY other people speaking their minds in here, to attack in that way? Maybe the person with the chip isn't the one that's worn a DOD uniform before. Seems you have a problem with me making a point that I feel strongly and have some credibility about. And having service members IN YOUR FAMILY, as most people do, DOESN'T indicate YOUR true level of respect for anyone. If you CHOSE to take my statement, which I pointed out was MY OPINION, to mean that I felt I knew more than anyone else, you better check yourself before you wreck yourself. I have the right to do that. <Had to pull that one from back in the day. lol>

  18. First, thanks for your service.

The 'picture' reference was towards House. He made a 'puff out your chest' reference, and I found it funny viewing his avatar.

To be clear, I meant no disrespect in my retort to you. Just read your post in Col. Jessup's voice, and found it funny.

You'll learn I can be quite the wise acre, and usually poke fun at hypocrisy and irony.

    Again, no harm meant.

    Welcome to the forum.

Its all good, man. Looking forward to interacting with you in the future. And btw, that WAS kinda funny, the Col Jessup reference. PEACE!

  19. Awesome avatar.  Thanks for 20+ years.  The battles in this forum are similar the the Russian/Afghan War.   :)

HahaHa! Yeah, Im feeling it! Land of the Free, Home of the Brave where everyone is subject to attack from all fronts. Gotta be Gung ho in here! Bring it on! You're welcome, man, Thanks for that. :)

  20. To be fair, "Yada Yada" could equally said about your posts. Your opinion when it comes to football is no better than the next, unless you have also spent 20 plus years coaching football at a high level. Moreover, your comments about Pagano are ridiculous, the truth is you have absolutely no idea what Pagano's ability to motivate is.

Yep, Cynjin, you are right. My experience in the Military isnt exactly football experience, so as far as the parameters YOU laid out, I have no more credibility than the average Joe, since that's how you feel about people that have served this country in the capacity I have. I respect the fact that you personally probably have no respect for the Military, feel the Department of Defense is evil and would never do it yourself. So, the "teams" I've had to "coach" that were teams that go into battle where lives are lost, again, probably, mean nothing to you and thats OK. And I cant possibly have ANY idea of Pagano's motivational abilities as I observe this team defensively, which is Pagano's supposed strong point, go from the 3rd ranked defense in the NFL to the 24th ranked defense in 3 weeks. But, I probably should have made that statement earlier to illustrate that point, realizing that people such as yourself are ready to attack, and thats fair. I fought for over 20 yrs to defend your right to do so.

  21. thanks for serving for our freedom, welcome to the forum war

Thanks, man. It was my pleasure to serve this country and all of its citizens whether positive and negative at heart. That's their right to choose what kind of people they are.

    PEACE
