Chargers or Commanders, I’m calling it now, Vrabel’s next destination.

Patriots probably reunite Josh McDonalds with Belichick. :)

Panthers’ job in the meanwhile, nobody wants it :)

Tepper is the worst owner in professional sports.  He’s now fired 3 successive coaches mid-season.  And it was apparently his decision to draft Young over Stroud - but he held his coach and GM responsible for the team’s lackluster performance.

He will probably have to make a reach to somebody that wouldn’t get an offer anywhere else.

  2. I think this is a terrible mistake by the Titans.  Their problems are so clearly on the roster.

Vrabel is a fierce competitor and, IMO, his teams usually punched above their weight.

Vrabel will likely be offered another HC job by every team with an opening.

Another thing: the head coach should not have to be meeting with the owner on a weekly basis. Especially to one that has no clue how football works.

I remember we locally had a dentist family (very wealthy) decide that they wanted to own and run a Steak 'n Shake in our area. They had no experience with the food industry, and instead of hiring a very competent manager to run the show, they instead decided to meddle with everything. The restaurant only lasted a few years before eventually going out of business.

To all you wealthy overlords out there: do yourself a favor and step back and have someone with EXPERIENCE run your little fun side project. Because unlike you, the people working in that side project are trying to make a living!

This is why I dislike the wealthy, and have a negative bias towards them. They've screwed my family, my town and my very way of life all for their own selfishness.

    /end rant.

You’re painting with an awfully broad brush.  Everybody is different and unique, and deserves to be measured on their own merits — not merely on things like the size of their bank

It didn't help either with what D Ryans has done with the Texans or what Shane has done with the Colts MINUS his star rookie qb in the making. I'm not sure he's even an upper tier oc. He was fired in San Diego because of the offense that lacked explosive plays and in Philly he was oc by title only because hc Peterson called the plays.

Early in his Panther tenure some fans were calling for Frank to relinquish playcalling duties (sound familiar) and ultimately some in their management agreed as Frank reluctantly gave up those duties after saying that's not what the team needed at the time. It was announced a couple of weeks ago that Frank had reclaimed those duties but continued to garner subpar results. I wish Frank well because by ALL accounts he's truly a good person.

Yeah, I have never had anything but respect for Frank Reich as a person.  And one can't ignore the success he had as an Offensive Coordinator.

But he's just not a great NFL Head Coach.  I don't even think he's a good one.  Maybe he's just....too nice.

Anyway, it would be fascinating to know what discussions were like between Reich, Scott Fitterer, and David Tepper as regards the 2023 draft.  There have been some rumors -- but I don't know how reliable they are.

Bryce Young just has not looked very good in his rookie season.  And it can't help matters that CJ Stroud looks likely to be a future star at the position.  The Panthers bet the farm on getting the #1 pick.  If you do that, you had damn well better strike gold.

Any day you beat the Pats is a good day even if it was ugly as sin.  This is how you have to win with backup.  I’ll Say I’d rather be the Colts with Gardner starting as a backup than the Pats with Mac Jones as their starter.

I wonder if Mac Jones hasn’t just played his final game as the Pats’ QB1.

    Oooops....sorry hahaha.

Big whoop. What good does an admission of being wrong do us now. We still have a loss and nothing will be done to the refs

It’s worth remembering that the refs blew a couple calls towards the end of the Ravens game which likely also have affected the outcome.

Not excusing either one.  I’d like to see the NFL just become the best they can at getting it right.  But it’s not like we’ve only been hurt by bad calls.

It’s just that fans tend to remember the times refs screwed them more than the times refs screwed their opponents.

  7. I used to care what announcers said about the teams I support.

But, after thinking about it, I just no longer do.  They can say whatever they want to say.  It has no bearing on the games, their outcomes, or anything else.

What the refs do matters, a lot.  What the announcers, commentators, radio talk show hosts, etal say does not.

That said, it would be nice if the NFL would follow in MLB’s footsteps - at least for Sunday Ticket and/or NFL+ - and offer each team’s radio feed as alternative audio.  It’s one of the best features of MLB.tv.

If he did not stretch ligaments, he should be good to go in no more than six weeks.

From what I've read, a Grade 3 AC Separation involves tearing of both the acromioclavicular (AC) and coracoclavicular (CC) ligaments (a Grade 2 involves tearing of one of these).

But, obviously, take that with a grain of salt.  I have no idea about the severity of AR's injury and I'm assuredly not a doctor.

    That aged well

There was no problem with that comment - thus the “depending on the severity of the injury” disclaimer.

There are 6 grades of AC sprain.  Had it been a Grade 1 sprain, playing next week wouldn’t be impossible.  But it’s apparently a Grade 3 sprain - which thankfully doesn’t require surgery, but does have a longer recovery period.

^^^^^^^^ This guy gets it !!!

I would also say if Taylor finishes out his rookie contract and Colts tag him next season, I will take Taylor's side in any holdout.

He fulfilled his rookie contact and if Colts don't want to give a long term deal they should let go as an UFA

I doubt there’s any way that Ballard or any other GM would flatly offer to take the franchise tag off the table.

Maybe they should let him go UFA after playing out his contract.  But they shouldn’t offer that guarantee.

    What?

Chandler Jones is having mental health issues right now.  And he’s put them on display publicly in videos and such.

It’s actually very sad and concerning - as compared to AB’s public episode which was just comical.  There’s nothing comical about this.

To jog your memory, here it is:

    https://fanbuzz.com/nfl/jim-irsay-josh-mcdaniels-bathroom-story/

The story came from Dan Dakich?  As in, Ryan Grigson’s BFF?  I guess that’s all it takes to be called an “NFL Insider”.

And spare me the “cost Colts a Super Bowl” garbage while we’re at it.  McDaniels has now had two head coaching opportunities.  He face-planted on the first one and I’d guess his face is already getting nervous about the 2nd.

That's not my point.  The only reason i brought that up was the poster said he didn't care about players who make millions

But owners aren’t complaining about how much money they pay players.  That’s not the limiting factor.

JT isn’t getting what he wants because he’s asking for a higher value than his market value…within the salary cap constraint.  It’s not that Irsay is complaining about the cash itself…but how much of the cap JT wants.

You missed my point.  You said part of the reason you don't care is that players are making millions.  So are the owners.  That shouldn't have an effect on the issue of holding out or paying more.

Neither of them have any bearing on what specific players are paid.  It’s the cap that determines that - relative, of course, to how a player is valued.

Think of it less in terms of dollars than in percentage of the total salary cap they have to spend.  That will make it make more sense.

How do you feel about those making billions complaining about what they have to pay?

Also, keep in mind that the net worth of an owner has no bearing on salaries because of the cap.

I think Stan Kroenke might be the wealthiest current NFL owner.  Maybe Josh Harris has him beat now, I don’t know.

Irsay probably has one of the lower net worths of the owners.

But guess what?  It doesn’t matter - because they’re all subject to the same cap.

This complaint makes no sense.  Things cost what they cost.  How much money you have in the bank is irrelevant to that.

Can you imagine if you walked onto a car lot, wanted to buy a car, and when you asked how much it costs they said “Well, that depends on your income.  How much do you make?”

And, of course, all NFL teams have to deal with the salary cap.  In fact, that is probably the single biggest influence on player salaries.  Because all 32 teams have to build the best roster they can within its constraints.

Taylor’s problem is the same one that Cook, Jacobs, Barkley etal had:  the league just doesn’t value RBs as much as they think they should be valued.  There’s nothing they can do about that…no matter how much money Jim Irsay has.

They have the Colts ranked 28th Homer Simpson Smile GIF, that is so comical, this list stinks on many levels not just because of that but the Colts at 2-1 should easily be rated higher than the Texans and Titans. Colts are probably around 15th IMO.

Isn’t 15th about where PFF has the Colts?

That might be a bit high, really.  I’m thinking 18-19 range.  But with room to move up.
