  1. Ballard should make a call and get DeVante Parker for a 4th or 5th rounder.
  2. With an above average QB, we ALMOST made the playoffs though he was BAD for the last 2 games (Wentz). Any QB we get will be above average to good at best setting us up for a playoff appearance at best as a ceiling, IMO. Seahawks, before RW arrived, still kept stockpiling talent for the QB that “would” arrive. So I think strengthening the roster at positions of need can definitely be done in parallel, IMO.
  3. Man, the Titans and Rams are not afraid of taking chances. The tide has shifted towards aggressive GMs nowadays. Woods was someone I wanted.
  4. I would give up a 4th rounder to the Rams for Woods. If he were healthy to finish the season, I would have given up a 3rd rounder but I have a feeling they would be fine trading him to us for a 4th rounder. That should settle the outside WRs for us and Woods would probably be better than any rookie we get in the 3rd round, IMO, even if we give up a 3rd.
  5. With all the theories thrown around, I might as well thrown an off-the-wall one to please the pitch fork crowd, lol. Maybe Ballard is ticked off at Irsay for forcing his hand to deal Wentz while Reich and Ballard wanted to give him another year?? So he is setting himself to be fired next year. I am only kidding but I guess my tin foil hat is just as good as yours when it comes to imagination.
  6. Brady and the Bucs are cooking again. Ali Marpet retires and Alex Kappa goes to the Bengals, Belichick helps out by trading Shaq Mason and weakening the Patriots OL to help out Tom Brady and the Bucs (while hurting Mac Jones and continuing to overpay mediocre WRs and TEs like Agholor, Bourne, Jonnu Smith) and the Bucs sign their backup OG (like our Chris Reed) who filled in well when Alex Kappa was injured in the divisional round thus replacing both their guards that they lost. They sign Russell Gage so that they don't have to deal with the Antonio Brown drama again for their No.3, re-sign Chris Godwin and Carlton Davis, push money to the future and are ready to roll again.
  7. Baker actually helps us here, whether he is a Colt or not. His dissatisfaction might amplify the possibility of a low draft pick cost trade for us. If Watson goes to Panthers, I anticipate this happening: Baker to Colts for Commanders' 3rd of the Colts and future 2nd (conditional on playing time) from Colts to Browns, Jimmy G to Browns for their current 2nd rounder, and a Day 3 pick.
  8. This gives the Niners the flexibility to not budge in a trade for Jimmy G except for a 2nd rounder, IMO. They can afford to pay him since Trey Lance is on a rookie salary and keep Jimmy G as insurance while he heals from shoulder surgery. The longer they get closer to the season, the pressure will mount to not have a QB conundrum because teams won't want to trade for a QB after training camp. If Baker Mayfield becomes available after the Watson trade, that does water down the market for Jimmy G though.
  9. Yep, excellent retention move. Hope Chris Reed is the next retention signing.
  10. We have to be consistent. If Grigson doesn't get points for trying and intent, neither should Ballard. It is a bottom line business and the ones who close the deal to get the talent on the squad end up being recognized more than the ones who wished and intended, at the end. Again, I am not mad after Day 2 that some holes have not been filled but would be disappointed after Week 2 if not enough has been done. I want the Colts to win just as much as the next man on this forum. We have the talent to be a fringe playoff team, time to take us to at least a division contender and I don't think that is too much to ask as a fan that wants his team to win.
  11. Texans are letting DeShaun Watson meet with the "49ers" who already have 2 QBs, trying to drive up the price for Watson, lol. This, despite Watson saying yes just to 2 teams - Saints and Panthers.
  12. Washington's 3rd rounder would be fine with me if they are planning on Jimmy starting at least 2 years for us, good ROI. Even Washington's 3rd rounder and our next year's 3rd rounder would be fine, considering they gave up a 1st and 3rd for Wentz for 1 year. If they believe in the player, they should do the trade. If Jimmy's shoulder keeps him from playing games, they can make one of those 3rd rounders conditional too, IMO.
  13. Man, AFC West is heating up. McDaniels might want to shape up fast or he could always give us Carr Chargers - re-sign Mike Williams, Khalil Mack trade, signing JC Jackson, signing DT Sebastian Joseph Day from Rams, Giants DT Austin Johnson, the Chargers are going to be a division contender and have the best chance of dethroning the Chiefs there.
  14. Myles Jack play has been declining though, he is not the same Myles Jack of 2020 or anything close to the 2017 AFCCG squad one.
  15. If Watson goes to (say the Panthers or Saints), then yes the AFC South is definitely winnable with the right pieces. Armstead, Jimmy G, Chandler Jones in FA and the pass catchers from the draft, I would be happy with our division winning chances assuming we re-sign Reed.
  16. If we are parting with draft picks, you have to know he is your QB for more than just 1 year. If that is the case, we can part with the Redskins 3rd rounder and call it a deal. We gave up a 1st and 3rd for Wentz that we had for just 1 year (got him thinking we would have him for 2 years at least) and unlike Wentz, Jimmy G does not come with questions in the locker room or coachability issues whatsoever, so it would be worth it if it is the direction we choose to go.
  17. Why are the Titans then able to win with Tannehill and Henry running the show? I think we were on par with Wentz and JT, IMO. Is it just them or the talent they assembled around them with free agency acquisitions like Dupree, former Colt Autry, drafting Landry and A J Brown, and other OL free agency and secondary additions? Tannehill is not what I call a very good franchise QB but they make it work due to the pieces built around him to the fact they have won the division 2 years in a row. The stubbornness to not acknowledge free agency acquisitions or parting with draft picks for talent at key positions is why we are a middle of the road team, not just the QB part unless the QB is absolutely low ceiling like Brissett.
  18. Knowing you have the magic touch of jinxing with your threads ("Buccaneers are paper tigers in 2020, remember?"), I will definitely take your word for it.
  19. To be honest, I would rather part with draft picks to get experienced FAs, a little bit like the Rams (not all the way) if you find the contract affordable since it is hard to outbid most teams in free agency. That is the best way I can fill my roster holes with proven talent at positions of need. Just need to find the right balance there. Certain positions like pass rush, corners and safeties do take time to flourish unlike the skill positions that it is worth to pony up draft picks to get the proven talent.
  20. True. We cannot cry over spilled milk. I do think Irsay screwed the pooch hiring Grigson. When he hired Polian, he got someone with a great pedigree. There were plenty of experienced candidates to choose from then and just like we trusted Polian with Manning, we could have trusted an experienced GM with Luck and things would probably have been different, IMO. IFs and BUTs, ya I know. We probably wouldn't be having a QB carousel. Luck has now become the poster child for what not to do when you have a talented young QB like that and the Bengals signed 2 for their OL day 1 of free agency. Year 1 - Burrow on IR, Year 2 - most sacked QB and Mr. Brown gave clear directions to his GM.
  21. Funny thing about the Bears is they had Charles Leno and let him get away and we chose Fisher over Leno and here we are. Now the LT we could have gotten in Charles Leno and the QB we got in Wentz are both with the Commanders. Life has a funny way of coming full circle. I will be curious to see how Leno and Wentz do together at Washington.
  22. Yeah, Polian made the playoffs with Kerry Collins as his QB in his 2nd year in 1996 with the Panthers and he did not have Jim Kelly with the Bills or Peyton Manning with the Colts to do that, don't tell me Kerry Collins is in the same breath as Luck or Rivers. The reason the Luck and Rivers led teams underachieved was because it was not as complete a team as it could be, even with Luck and Rivers in those playoff runs. Not a single year in Ballard's tenure have we finished Top 10 in pass defense, not a single year. It was his hand picked guy Eberflus that you can then deflect the blame on next. Ballard has done a good job, just not good enough and the team is still middle of the road due to talent deficiencies at key positions and the buck stops with him. I used to defend Ballard a lot early on but "look, the shine has worn off." Let us call it like it is.
  23. Yeah, Patriots committed a lot of money to Agholor, Jonnu Smith, Hunter Henry and Kendrick Bourne too last year in the first week of free agency. They came out swinging to help their future QB, which happened to be Mac Jones as a rookie.
