I have seen this mentioned in a couple different posts but could not find a dedicated topic on this.

Looking for thoughts on NIL.  Personally I’m not a fan.  I think it sends the wrong message to high school kids that all they need to do is make it to D1.

What’s a kids real incentive to work their tails off and get good enough to go pro when they can simply make it to D1 and become a multi millionaire?

How many talented kids are just going to take the NIL money and never go pro because it’s easier and doesn’t require them to put their body on the line into their early 30’s?

How many of these kids and their families are no longer worried about them getting an education and contributing something tangible when they can take the money and run?

We don’t give kids millions of dollars to make it to MIT and contribute to research and development of things that actually improve our lives.  Why is it ok to do this for athletes?

    Thoughts?

I don't like it and how it has declined my interest in college sports.

I'm not sure that NIL in and of itself is the issue, if a college player can make money by endorsing a product, fine.  I think that the bigger issue is the NIL collectives that are now getting involved in the recruiting of players and enticing them to transfer, especially now that the transfer rules are so liberal.  It is becoming pay for play and a player can transfer almost any time that they want, if they get a bigger NIL offer from one of the collectives.  The colleges may need to have contracts with the players that sign on to play for them, not unlike contracts professional teams have with their players.  I also think that if there are not changes to the college system there will come a time when very good coaches will either retire in their prime or leave for the NFL rather then deal with the morass that is college football.

Did the HC of Alabama just become the worst open position?

Recruits are starting to decommit, and it's hard to follow a legendary coach, whoever gets the position is gonna have to produce quick.

With the new rules it's going to happen.  The majority of players went to Alabama to play for Saban, now other schools, especially those with large NIL, are going to try and poach Alabama's players.

I'm not shocked often by sports news but this is floorring...NO ONE could have imagined this.

I thought DeBoer was probably in their top three, heck he's won everywhere he has been and beat both Oregon (3 times) and Texas (2 times) with "lesser" talent.  Now can he recruit in the SEC?  They will find out in the next few years.

I think Bama wins and Texas wins so mine is the opposite of yours lol. But I believe both should be good competitive games.

I had the same feeling as you, so it's a good thing I don't bet on games.  I was happy to see two competitive games with no blowouts.  Hoping for an equally good championship game, I'm not sure which team to pull for.  I like Harbaugh, but I've been to several Washington games at Seattle, cool stadium, you can take a boat to Husky stadium.

Really hilarious to see my Facebook feed tonight. Normally it’s chock full of my connections all obnoxiously raving about Ohio State this and Ohio State that… tonight it’s been dead silent mwuhahahaha! I love it!

That game was hard to watch, poor QB play on both sides during the first half.  If OSU doesn't have better play QB next year, your Facebook feed will be quiet all year.

If Bama holds on and beats Georgia the SEC better pray for FSU to lose if not........1)Mich  2)Wash 3)FSU 4)Texas....with 5)Bama and 6)Georgia sitting this one out. No way an unbeaten Power 5 gets left out and Texas win over Bama pretty much clinches things.

If the committee leaves out both Georgia and Alabama, then the committee should all just resign from anything football related.  In my opinion both of those SEC teams are better than Wash and FSU.  Put the 4 best teams in, whatever 4 teams those are.  Personally, I do not like seeing the 20+ point blowouts that have been common in the semi-final games.  Let the chaos begin!!

The fun has just started, wait until next week when Washington takes on Oregon again. That 1st game was the game of the year.

I am hoping that next week is as good as last Saturday.  Personally, I am hoping for a little chaos, that would mean Alabama beating Georgia, Oregon beating Washington, Texas beating Okla. St. and Louisville beating Fla. St.  It's probably too much to ask for Iowa to beat Michigan though.  I'm not sure what the CFP committee would do if all that happened.  Bottom line, I just want to see several very good games.

I suggested you taking the 3.5 and betting on Notre Dame. If you did, you would have won your bet. Irish covered. Regarding the game though, that was a gut wrenching loss. Tough way to lose. I had Notre Dame winning by 3 but I knew they would cover.

It probably would have helped if the Irish would have played with 11 players on the field, instead of the 10 they had, on the last two plays.  I'm pretty sure that they were missing a d-lineman on the last play where Ohio State ran for the TD.

The 5-year average champ is Kevin Hanson of EDSFootball.  His mock draft is from December, but he has us selecting Herbert at 13.  Will be interesting to see how that changes.

Small point, but he has the Colts picking 15th in that mock.  The draft order is not what it ended up being.  It will be interesting to see how he sees it with an updated draft order.

9th by ESPN analytics.   Used Wins Above Replacement as their main metric.

Apologies,  it's a Premium story and I'm never quite sure what I'm allowed to reveal about stories like that.

Remember,  we started off drafting 26th...     and then traded back to 34th where we took Rock.

So, from there our class of Rock, Ben, Parris, Bobby, Khari, Tell and Speed did well enough to have us ranked 9th overall.

With his full staff in place,  we have a front office that seems to have a good idea of what they're doing.

But they're not in the Super Bowl like San Francisco.

Colts pick Love with Herbert still on the board. Jeremiah knows what's up...

    Surprising/notable picks:

-Mekhi Becton goes no. 4 to the Giants and is the first OT drafted

-K'Lavon Chaisson goes no. 11 to the Jets and is the second edge drafted after Chase Young

    -Jordan Love over Herbert

-Ceedee Lamb and Jerry Jeudy last until the teens.

-D'Andre Swift is RB1 and he goes in the middle of the 1st

-Patrick Queen is the second highest drafted LB after Simmons

    -Xavier McKinney over Grant Delpit

-Marlon Davidson, EDGE, Auburn goes R1!!!

-Zack Baun, EDGE, Wisconsin goes R1

    -

I like Patrick Queen from LSU, I thought he had a very good championship game too.

Just because there is no state income tax does not mean it is cheaper to live there.  The property taxes alone more than make up for no state income taxes.

Heck, just the sales tax in Tampa is 8.5%

I'm not sure, but I would be surprised if the property taxes are higher in Florida vs. California overall.  The sales tax in California starts at 7.5% and can go up to 8.5% depending on where you live/shop.  Therefore, that 13.3% extra Rivers pays in California adds up to a large amount, imo and, as was mentioned by @ColtsBlueFL, he is no longer allowed to deduct state and local taxes over 10k from his federal returns, compounding the effect.

I believe that his prime motivation was to move closer to his family, but the hundreds of thousands of dollars he will save by making the move is probably a nice added plus.

Ok college player experts help me out...

If he didtn have this injury is he a franchise QB?

Im not a big college fan but Alabama QB's scare me. I cant think of one thats translated to the NFL. If Tua never had the injury does he translate?

Injury history is a big concern, Tua does not do a good job of protecting himself.  However, he delivers the ball accurately and on time.  Two very sought after traits in todays NFL.  The most recent QB from Alabama to make an NFL roster is McCarron I believe, but he is not as good a prospect as Tua.

This draft assumes Castanzo is back.

Round 1, Pick 13 - Javon Kinlaw, DL, South Carolina, 6'6", 310 - He will make a very good one-gap disruptor, strong enough at the point of attack, will only get stronger with an NFL regimen and start demanding double teams at the next level, excellent length, Colts' Autry and Hunt both are 6'5" and higher, they like long armed guys that shed OL blocks inside, very good fit for our DL.

Round 1, Pick 18 - Jordan Love, QB, Utah State, 6'4", 225 - You have to read some of his background and odds he overcame to be touted as a first round QB propsect here. His Dad took his life when he was 14 and his life is still influenced by that, his drive to be a QB. His head coach Matt Wells from 2018 left for Texas Tech and Jordan Love's best numbers were in 2018, he would regress a bit in 2019 with Gary Andersen, a defensive line assistant taking over for HC with a whole bunch of new assistant coaches. There was a great likelihood of him being a Top 10 pick, had Matt Wells stuck around at Utah State. His accuracy is good but anticipation and reading defenses needs a little work, but his arm can make every kind of throw at every level. He likes to hold the ball a bit and move outside the pocket because he likes to attack vertically, so he needs to go to a team with a good OL that will give him enough time for vertical passing strengths of his to succeed.

Trade with Eagles - Give up picks No.34 and pick No.44 for Pick No.18 (Eagles 1st) and Pick No.85 (Eagles 3rd)

Round 3, Pick 75 - Collin Johnson, WR, Texas, 6'6", 220 - To me, given how Reich loves using multiple TEs, and how Engram and Kittle were converted TEs that weighed lower than that, I feel he is the ideal candidate for the converted TE at the next level for producing mismatches.

Round 3, Pick 85 - Cameron Dantzler, CB, Mississippi State, 6'2", 185 - Long corner whose best traits are zone coverage skills, and reads the QB well in zone coverage, very good fit for our defense

Round 4, Pick 112 - Sage Surratt, WR, Wake Forest, 6'3", 215 - He is very much like a JJ Arcega Whiteside when it comes to winning contested catches as an outside WR at the college level, high IQ, good blocking skills, can play inside and outside. If Frank loved Funchess, he will love Surratt for certain.

Round 5, Pick 143 - Kevin Thurmon Jr., DT, Arkansas State, 6'3", 298 - An All Sun Belt Conference Honorable Mention, he has had outstanding production as an interior lineman, 53 tackles with 4.5 sacks and a pass batted. Possible 4.97 40 time and high upside guy in the later rounds.

Round 6, Pick 174 - Larry Rountree, RB, Missouri, 5'10", 210 - He is rarely talked about as a Top 25 RB in the nation but all he does is produce year after year at Missouri. His physical nature, I compare it to Chris Carson of the Seahawks, not flashy but a steady productive prospect. He was tops in red zone touches in the SEC in 2018

Round 6, Pick 189 (from Jets) - Mitchell Wilcox, TE, South Florida, 6'4", 245 - He is a versatile and sneaky pass catching TE at best. He won't wow you with anything but he will be a steady presence that will block for you and has sticky hands.

Round 7, Pick 197 (from Dolphins) - Alex Taylor, OT, South Carolina State, 6'8", 205 - Huge sleeper prospect that is a right tackle prospect, with a basketball background (reminds me of Joe Reitz). He was featured as an NFL draft diamond here.

Good Mock, I'm not as high on Love as others, but he certainly could turn out to be a good QB.  I had to do a double take on Alex Taylor, I assume he weighs 305 not 205, otherwise he is one skinny OT.
