He had drop as the announcers pointed out. Yes Minshew could have made a better throw but Goodson could have caught that pass. Also sorry not buying that when your season is literally on the line and you need a yard going with your backup QB to throw to a practice squad RB is the best call you can make.
It was the call that was made. Minshew just needed to be average for one throw and couldn't pull it off.
Don't get the hate on Goodson. Dude would've had to be a contortionist to catch that pass.

Yet the play call was to have Goodson in the game at all when you have your all world running back you just paid a tone of money too as an option or at least Moss. So yes play calling was the problem. Play calling also invovles the personal on the play.
If Minshew puts that ball in front instead of three feet behind the receiver- it's a catch and first down.
That play isn't Goodson's fault. It's Minshews God awful passing.

Playcall wasn't the problem.
We just needed Minshew and Goodson to not suck for exactly one play. Minshew couldn't handle it.

Still the only team to score at least 20 in every game.

People want to focus on the penalties and the loss. I focus on the plays before the penalties. Wide-open in the middle. U could tell the Browns were targeting the corner. He sucks and he cannot cover. People want to focus on the penalty and not on the lack of talent on this defence. Penalties or not, they cannot close out a game. Win or lose going forward, this D needs to be retooled in terms of scheme, coaching and talent. Sure, blame the penalties but I am going to blame Ballard.

How was it a penalty? Please explain?
I'm curious about this too, as Cooper initiated the contact. Baker was off balance and facing away from the receiver.

This team needs to learn how to close games out that's a major problem
Can't close out a game when the refs throw garbage flags.
Defense forced a fumble and recovered it with 30 seconds left on the clock. Flags flew over some nonsense call.
Can't beat the league.

I can't believe those calls. Both of those were absolutely hot garbage.

How bout not having Minshew in shotgun around the goal ine and run the ball? Knowing u have a rookie tackle on an elite pass rusher should affect your play calling.
Yeah, hand the ball off against that line would have worked so well.
You do realize what the Shotgun formation is for, right?

I'm not even sure Freeland got a hand on him, tbh..?
Ogletree only got 1 hand on him though on his "chip".
Freeland put one hand on Garrett. Ogletree at least hit Garrett.
-
The offensive line has just given up. Freeland just lazy punching Garrett cost us 7. That's not on Minshew, or the playcalling. You have to get on Garrett and give Minshew a chance.

Minshew forgot he doesn't play for the Jaguars anymore.

ROFL I dont know what to think about this game. If we do lose do we keep the 5th pick or can we go down to the 4th or lower?
If Den and Ari win, we are at 3. Currently at 5

Jeff Saturday tells Sam go out and kneel it.

And you TRUST Ballard to pick a qb?
Yeah.

Remember, a win here would be catastrophic, and if the Texans win and Bears lose, the Texans lose the 1st overall pick.
Always a bright side.

What's this forum going to do if Foles goes out their lays 40 and throws deep?????
Dunno? I'd be real sad, as a 5th win is going to be devastating to our draft chances.
-
Haack needs to be busy tonight. No need to do something silly like win the game.

Collinsworth and Tirico were both saying that our roster is actually very talented (especially on the defensive side) despite our record. Sounds like they were giving Ballard a pass.
Most people understand that it doesn't really matter how good of a defense you have, when your over the hill QB turns the ball over at an astronomical rate, there's not much they can do. Collinsworth hit the nail on the head that we just haven't been getting the turnovers that we normally do. Doesn't help much that the refs take away two turnovers from us in the game, but oh well. Some of those 4 win teams won today, moving us up the draft board.
Then there are a lot of the posters here, who are either wanting to put the blame on Ballard or the roster, or play calling or whatever.

Yeah our defense is the 1985 Bears , clowns. Lets just crap on Matt Ryan. Par for the course. I am not defending Matt Ryan he played bad but damn you people kill my morale in here.
Lmao. Non Starter argument.
The defense can't stop short fields on 4 turnovers on 4 straight drives. When old Matty Ice hands the ball over.
Our defense has gotten screwed by the refs over and over. Two turnovers overturned by ref nonsense, and possibly the worst PI call ever.

It was his 1st fumble in several games, if I'm not mistaken
Lol. Stop it.
Fumble, int, it doesn't matter. He's absolutely trash.

Yep, but Matt Ryan isn't the problem.
Lmao. Clowns.

I mean. Yes- but it wasn't Ballard gambling that left us in that situation. It was Isaiah Rodgers.
