We have no idea if Kelly can do it better than Brissett, let alone 'far better.' Not saying Jacoby's the long-term answer by any means... but nobody has any clue if a guy who has spent his entire NFL career being cut for off-field issues or on practice squads is 'far better' than a guy who helped us get off to a 5-2 start last year.
I'll be so happy when I never have to hear Chad Kelly's name again.

The reason Tom Brady would consider the Colts has to be the AFCS provides a path to the playoffs that the AFCW and AFCN don't have. Realistically there's not lot's of teams that need a QB and can win right now. The Colts are in the camp. There's only so many places to go. Even if this isn't happening right now, I'd imagine this is a conversation that will happen at some point.
I just can't imagine him leaving unless it's not really up to him as the Pats are ready to move on.
Playing 8 home games indoors with an elite OL probably sounds appealing to a guy his age, so I could see him viewing it as an option, but it's so difficult to imagine him not retiring in NE.

Would be a great signing IMO.

Not exactly breaking news since DL is a huge need & Harris will be a highly coveted FA, but if Allbright's saying he hears we're interested, I buy it.

If true, I'm sure it will be just one of many visits that he has scheduled around the league. He's never been able to do this before.
Very good point.

Damn... is it possible it's a troll attack on JMV to see if he will spew anything on radio?
I thought about that at first, but I follow that Brett Crabtree guy, he's definitely not the trollin' type.

This doesn't sound real.
Obviously can't say one way or the other, but it's picking up steam for sure.

Is that tampering?
No idea how any of that works, but at least a few are saying they saw him.

Anyone seen this yet?

Okereke & Ya-Sin made PFFs all-rookie team this year, & I have to think Willis would've too but beating out Thornhill & Savage is a lot to ask.

Stitches is 100% right. Mack is a good back but backs are so replaceable now that it’s a joke to overpay for one. ‘Taking care of your own’ doesn’t mean ‘spending frivolously at the expense of your team’. When guys like Raheem Mostert, Aaron Jones, and Phillip Lindsay can come in and be bell cows on rookie deals, it practically makes the position obsolete. Wilkins and Williams each would have had the same production as Mack and it’s not like Mack has lit it up in the passing game anyway, the one area that makes all the difference in RB play.
I don't think we should overpay for Mack either, & I don't expect that we will. But I don't think there's anything wrong with rewarding guys who have been productive for you, some may disagree that it's a philosophical flaw to do so with a RB, but we're fans, not GMs, & our opinions don't carry much weight unfortunately.

He gets injured and you have 10M a year for the next few years tied into a sidelined asset? This is not about Marlon Mack to me. As I said before - I've defended him here before and I've said that he's a good back and he can do the job perfectly well for us. This is about the position of RB and the replaceability of RBs and the opportunity cost. For example... I'd much rather get the top DT on the market for 18M and draft a RB in the 4th than get an Autry type for 8M and give Mack 10M. This is not close. There are so many positions I'd rather spend those 10M a year on than a RB.
Worst case scenario is he underperforms & Ballard cuts him. That's it. That's the worst that can happen.

There are 4 RBs in the league being paid over 8M. Zeke, Bell, Gurley and David Johnson. The teams of 3 of those wish they never gave them those contracts and I would argue Dallas shouldn't feel good about giving Zeke 15M either. There is no good 10M contract for a RB. First, they are replaceable, and second they get injured... A TON.
Honest question: what's the worst case scenario of giving Marlon Mack a contract extension?

This would be HORRIBLE deal. Just horrific.
$10mil/yr for a 23 year old RB wouldn't be bad, maybe a tad on the high side, but with the cap increasing every year it'd look like a bargain by the time his contract expires.

Yea we have a need at wr but with the depth of this draft, I’d rather wait. I wouldn’t wait past the third round though. Last year proved you can get a quality wr in the second or third round but we just picked the wrong one.
Seems a little premature to make that assumption. Are we really calling Campbell a bust already?

I don't understand how you or anybody for that matter can state that with the authority you did.
His stats thus far kind of back it up.

Man. This sounded eerily similar to what could be going on with Love.
**Conspiracy Theory**
Ballard has been on him since his Sophomore year.
Love has a down year but still decides to come out. Why? Ballard spoke with his agent and said we want him. They agree Reich and Colts are best for him.
We are sitting at 13 and Ballard has some connections on where to move up if needed.
This is gonna be interesting.
That doesn't sound like a conspiracy at all.

Do we, as fans, want to settle for "solid?"
If we get a franchise QB in the process, then yes, I'll absolutely settle for a solid nose tackle. I don't care how well a team drafts, expecting to have the best player in the league at every single position is just not realistic.

Agreed about what the pundits think. Kmet just seems like a guy BB would take at 28 and become the next all pro. I'm not a big fan of the one dimensional receiving TE, and Kmet seems like Doyle, only younger, bigger, and a better receiver. And with his length and long strides, he could get down field quicker than he looks.
Gotcha. I'm basing it totally on what I'm seeing with the player rankings, & I'd be lying if I said I've seen enough of either guy to make that distinction.

I hate to say this, but I watched him play against Georgia early in the season and thought there couldn't possibly be a better TE in college than him. Its not surprising he's now being called the top TE in the draft.
Based on the dozens of mock drafts I've done this month, Brycen Hopkins seems to be the top TE in this class. He's the first one off the board every time.

They won't. I don't think...
If they do I'd expect them to target the Dolphins as a trade partner. They have 2 1sts to work with.

This is what we get for not trading for a receiver. We have 4th and 5th string receivers at best starting now. Things just got A LOT tougher
Who'd you want to trade for that was actually available?

Last year Kelly got cut by the Colts, cleared waivers, & then ended up back with the Colts on the practice squad. That sort of thing doesn't just happen with good QBs in a QB driven NFL.
