Let's start by looking at some facts.
Does Manning make bad players look better. Absolutely!
Has Manning been able to lead this team to the playoffs? Absolutely! Has he been able to win more than 1 SB in 14 yrs.? No!
Now, Manning is coming off of 4 surguries and despite what many like to state as fact and say he is 100% healthy, we don't know that for sure.
He is 36 yrs. old and hasn't played football in game action in well over a yr..
Add that to the fact that Reggie, Garcon, and who knows who else likely will not be back and the fact that the Colts are in rebuild mode and we have no idea what were going to get even with Manning. For anybody to say unequivocally that they do know, is absolute crap.
I have stated over and over that Manning deep down may not want to be a part of a rebuilding process at this late stage in his career. I know that is difficult for some people to absorb, but it absolutely a possibility.
I know this topic is just going to keep going and going till we get an answer, but we can discuss it till we're all blue in the face and it isn't going to change a thing. some people are ready to move on and others are wanting to hang on to the past. In a perfect world, Manning would come back for a yr. or 2 at a much reduced rate and show Luck the ropes, but this isn't fantasyland. Irsay is going to do what he thinks is best for the franchise and we'll find out what that is hopefully sooner than later so we all can move on and look to the future of the Colts and people can stop arguing about something none of us can change.
What do you think are the odds that Luck ever wins a Super Bowl, much less more than one? This is a serious, non-rhetorical question.

I'd say 41-42 is when he'll hang it up barring any more health setbacks.
-
So long as we have Luck... we'll be fine.
We'll see.
-
Irsay already said he's not paying the option
No.
-
Looks like we should prepare for a lot of Polian analysis on the Peyton situation.
-
If all is okay then why have we seen nothing? I mean this is real simple call a press conference Peyton and let's see...
Um...because it's none of our business and we suck at evaluating things like this anyway?

Anthony Gonzalez was supposed to be Marvin Harrison's replacement. Needless to say, it never worked out that way.

When did this become a thread about Bert Jones?

In the words of Steven A. Smith..."SO DISRESPECTFUL!"

Arizona has to ax their QB./.but they might do it if they're desperate and if Manning imrpves dramatically physically
becuause they cant keep Kolb in case Manning isnt healthly. They have to ax Kolb... and that's high risk
That is the only one that remotely makes sense to me...
Y'all must know something about Matt Schaub that I dont/ My understanding is they are quite happy with him.
It would be insane to lo-jack him for an injured Manning...
Miami plays all cold weather road games and asking a vet QB who has played the vast majority of his career indoors....to make throws with a limited arm...in NE, Buffalo and NY....isnt a plan...
..and tell me you can close tour eyes and imagine Peyton Manning playing for the Seattle SeaHawks
The "cold division games" you keep harping on make up 3 of the games the Dolphins play all year. You don't think he'd have to play in the cold three times anywhere he went?
-
I wanted us to win that game at the time. Although it's been insinuated that I'm not a "true fan", I've never rooted for the Colts to lose.
-
What on earth would entice him to the Redskins? Money? He doesn't need it. Everyone says he wants to go to a team that is an instant contender. Redskins are atrocious. One decent receiver. Running back by committee. I just don't get it.
-
I can absolutely promise you that the Pats will not trade him for a 3rd round pick. That is where they got him last year and based around what was said about him last year, that was viewed as a steal. So why would they just get a comparable selection for him this year? The answer is they wouldn't.
Nope. What they are going to do with him is 1) groom him to take over for Brady when that time comes or 2) pull a Matt Cassell and build his stock to where a team will overpay for him.
Because they like Hoyer better and Mallett is now third string.

Allows me to focus on UK basketball, so I'm not complaining!

On a team that finished last the year before and improved to playoff bound the year after "Manning's" 3-13 record. Worst to first. I'll take any bet that says Luck will do better.
You missed my point. I was responding to people who think that Luck will have this team in a position to never draft this high in the draft again. I'm saying that we drafted high again after getting Manning, so why should we automatically assume that we won't finish with a bad enough record to draft high again with Luck?
-
Yeah but Andy Dalton made the playoffs this year and Luck is better than Dalton.
OMG, that's true! Maybe we should just realize its impossible to predict the future an appreciate the fact that a wide array of outcomes are possible.
-
i think it all sounds good in theory, but who is willing to give up pretty much two years worth of draft picks. even if i team does come forward to give up every pick for the next two years, with andrew luck as their QB i doubt that team would have a top ten draft pick next year.
Really? Because when Peyton was a rookie, we went 3-13.

I agree with Dilfer as well.
-
Was watching ESPN, they had Dilfer, Young, and Jaworski discusses Peyton's future in Indy. Says a Peyton Manning at 90% is better than Luck and that it would be best for "the horseshoe" for the Colts to keep Peyton in Indy.
Dilfer: Manning will probably be gone, but the Colts SHOULD keep him and trade the pick to build around him.
Jaws: Time for Colts to move on from Manning and go with a younger QB.
Young: Doesn't think Peyton can play right now, but if he proves he can play in the next 30 days, the Colts should draft him and pick Luck, as they would benefit from having both (just like the 49ers with him and Montana and GB with Rodgers and Favre). Doesn't think the 28 million dollars is a big deal in today's NFL economy. Thinks Peyton won't be back in Indy though.
-
. What a problem. We now go from having the worst team in the NFL to having an embarrassment of riches and having to trade away guys that are at their prime because they will start to decline someday. .
-
He was at the stadium, but he was in the weight room rehabbing.
Seriously, though, I cannot fathom the Super Bowl being his Indy, his brother playing in the game, and he doesn't go to the game? Talk about superstition. He better be throwing one heck of a victory party at his place tonight!
He isn't superstitious....maybe just a little stitious.

Manning would have put up absolutely ungodly stats playing against the defenses Unitas saw. Unitas won two of his titles when there was no Super Bowl and there were like 12 teams in the entire league and no one was passing the ball. Unitas couldn't play today's game. Manning would have been a dominant force in Unitas's game.
