  1. Definitely entertaining and promising.  I'm seeing a lot of positive talk about it on social media as well.  If you accept it for what it is, you're going to enjoy watching this league.

My main concerns going in were shaky OL play, and not enough good QB's.  So far, those look to be true, but what do you expect?

Living in the Tampa area, I suppose i'll be rooting for Orlando.  I also love Spurrier from his Gator days :D

I'm just glad to have 10ish weeks of football to watch.

Goff playing like Trent Edwards out there.

Time for Brady to show that the big boys are in charge. He'll blow down the field for the easy TD and leave no time on the clock before halftime.

You really enjoy the phrase "blow down the field" don't you?  Variety is key. :D

  3. Well, tbh, if I were to bet on this game, I'd probably put money on the Chiefs.  I definitely don't think we'll be blown out, and I do believe we can win, but I think they have too many weapons and some of our defensive personnel may get exposed.

I'm a little worried about the offense too.  We really only seem to be great on offense for 30 minutes at a time lately.  The Giants, we came alive at the end, and against the Titans and Texans, we were impotent after halftime.

An argument could be made for the latter two that it was somewhat by design to chew clock, which is somewhat my hope.  We'll see I suppose.

This will be a great test for us though. Hope we can pull it out!!

  4. Yeah, Mack was great this year!

Obviously, I'd expect us to at least kick the tires on Bell if he really wants to come here, but with how well our line is playing, there is absolutely no need to pay Bell what he was asking the Steelers to.

With Mack and Hines, though, I like our RB stable.  It was good seeing Wilkins come in and run hard last night as well.

  5. Gah, I have so many Jerseys already:

3 Peyton Mannings (different tiers of quality as I got older and could afford them), Bob Sanders, Dwight Freeney, Robert Mathis, Andrew Luck.  I also have my custom Holden 89 jersey haha (It was a gift, don't judge me.)

I guess next person I would look for may be Leonard if he can keep up this pace.  I tend to prefer defensive player Jerseys.

  6. I think finally connecting on the deep pass to TY helped his confidence.  Then, when he was able to throw it downfield for the Hail Mary (too hard even as the ball got there early).  After that, I saw the Luck we're all used to.  Suddenly, he was running for first downs.  Throwing into tight windows with a ton of zip.  Hitting longer completions like it was nothing.

I'm sure the Texans defense being tuckered out was a contributing factor, but I definitely liked what I saw from Luck at the end of the game today.

  7. From a pure football perspective, I don't think the roof makes much of a difference, save maybe on kick/punt returns or really deep passes when the ball is high up in the air.  Which is...what every player in the NFL deals with in an Outdoor stadium. Non-issue.

Aesthetically, I don't really like how it makes the one part of the field so much brighter, but that's just my opinion, and I don't feel all that strongly about it.

  8. Yeah, when I finally got up to Indy for the Ravens game last year, my girlfriend and I stopped into the Pro Shop.  I was blown away.  We have a few similar places in Tampa for the Bucs, but none of them are as good.

  9. Hurray for actual on the field news.  It's always a weird thing for me, though.  On one hand, I'm going "Yeah!  Our Receiver group sounds great!"  On the other, I'm thinking "Or is our Secondary, which is supposed to be a strength, not going to be that good this year?"

Oh, OTA's...I love and hate you.  I can never tell if I should be excited or worried.

  10. Well, out of boredom and to keep myself sane, I did another mock draft thingy on first-pick.  Here's how it went:

    Your Picks:

Round 1 Pick 29: Phillip Dorsett, WR, Miami (Fla.) (B+)

Round 2 Pick 4 (JAX): Landon Collins, SS, Alabama (A+)

Round 2 Pick 29: Michael Bennet, DT, Ohio State (A-)

Round 3 Pick 29: Doran Grant, CB, Ohio State (A)

I stopped there because, admittedly, my knowledge of prospects doesn't run much deeper than the 3rd/4th round.  I traded our 2016 1st, and our 5th round pick for the Jags 2nd rounder and their 4th.

  11. I'll be honest:  When we first picked him, I was furious. Not so much because I don't like him.  Heck, I think he's the 3rd best receiver in this class (Obviously behind Cooper and White.)  I feel like we're more upset about who we passed on rather than who we picked.  Here's the thing, though:  31 other teams passed on Landon Collins who I've seen go as high as top 15 in mock drafts.  Goldman, I think, wouldn't have been great value at 29.  I also don't see how we could have taken Kendricks with our 1st rounder.  The only real issue I have with it is Brown.  I feel like he would have been a better option.  Or we could have traded down for one of the defensive players we all wanted.

Here's the thing, though.  All but ONE of the players we wanted (Brown) are still available.  I wouldn't be surprised at all for us to trade up and try to snag one of them.  Let's at least see how the rest of the draft pans out before we start calling for people to lose their jobs, alright?

  12. I don't know. He may not be the best, but he's way up there.  3 out of 4 years with double digit sacks.  One of them being a ridiculous 22 sack year.  For comparison, Mathis has only has 5 double digit sack seasons out of 11.  Also, until Mathis had his crazy breakout year, his career high was 11.5 which is apparently average.

The only two I can think of may be Watt and Miller that are better.  Miller only has .5 more in his career, and in 2013 both were hurt, but Houston was having a far superior season (11 sacks in 11 games, as opposed to just 5 sacks in 9)

So, I'd say it's not so outlandish to say that Houston is the best pass rusher in the NFL.  I'd say you're wrong because Watt is the best at like, everything (obvious hyperbole) but still...I couldn't make fun of someone for saying it.

  13. It's a neat idea, but just really poor execution and player ranks.  The Browns are a better SB contender than us? What...?  The Texans? didn't we beat them twice? I mean, the Bills and Giants are more SB ready than the Colts? The Bengals!?  None of that makes any sense at all.

Some of the player rankings are wonky as well.  I'm sorry, but Peyton Manning at average?  Sure, he had a down year by his standards, but then why is Brees up at elite?  He was a turnover machine just like Luck.

Sorry, I just don't buy that Peyton deserves to be in the same category as Nick Foles, Eli Manning, Ryan Tannehill, Colin Kaepernick, and Zach Mettenburger/Charlie Whitehurst.  Or be BELOW the likes of Cam Newton, Philip Rivers, and Matt Ryan.

  14. It's actually something I've thought a lot about Trent.  He has really good cuts, but just doesn't have the burst to make something out of it most of the time.  If he lost 6-10 pounds, it would help his speed and agility a lot.

It worked wonders for Bell and Lacy this season.

  15. You're both right on AQ but overall I think he's in the right place and just more aware of what's going on than Harrison. When Harrison is in the game, too many times when Luck is getting pressured I see Harrison letting a free man through as he is either doing nothing or helping on a double team. I really question his awareness.

Yeah, I wont argue with you there.  Shipley definitely has a better mental game than Harrison right now.

  16. Yeah, the line improved with all the changes.  However, before we start crowning Shipley,  he was tossed around like a rag doll on a few occasions I noticed.  He really wasn't that much better than Harrison.  Holmes however, was a massive improvement over Reitz.

  17. Can we win out? Sure.  If we can play a Full Game of some of that dominating football we've all seen from this team.  So far, it's happened once. Against a Bengals team that was in a downward spiral at the time.  If we play like we've played the last few weeks?  No way.

I'm expecting another 11-5 finish, with the loss coming from the Cowboys.  That run game...with what the Patriots did to us, imagine what THEY will do.  I'm not expecting the December collapse from Romo this season.  It's not all on him anymore.  The other two games that concern me are the Browns and the Texans game.  Yes, I know the Texans have never won in Indy; It's going to happen eventually, and that team is better than they seem.  I don't really know what to expect from the Browns now that Gordon is back, and will be in the full swing of things by the time we meet up with them.  Hopefully Vontae can limit him.

12-4 is certainly a possibility, but I think 10-6 is just as likely.  We'll see.  Still have to play the games.
