  1. Half a finger more and it would be hailed as a great defensive play and we might be celebrating a FG victory. Truly a game of inches!
  2. Name a more encouraging first game debut over the past eleven years? This game showed a LOT of promise, sans the atrocious running LB defence. I am NOT wearing rose coloured glasses.
  3. Utterly shocking, all the Debbie downer negativity. Was an excellent game, but the run defence did suck, and that, that alone is why they lost. A 2pt loss, which, btw, would’ve been a tie score had the SOUND 2 pt try have worked. The team that most prognosticators have picked to win the division and be one of the best AFC teams this year squeaked out a victory. I say, this is one of the most encouraging opening day losses of the past eleven years! Colts WILL beat Green Bay next week, Mark my words! Go Colts!
  4. To the bolded, I am usually all for taking the easy points, but to me you are EGREGIOUSLY wrong about the 2xp decision. The decision to go for 2 in that spot was spot on. A miss made no difference, as a FG would still put you in the lead. And even right now, it would have still been a 2 possession game. The 2pt try had no down side.
  5. And on the Mitchell one he was illegally contacted resulting in being that half step away from the throw being right on the money.
  6. It WAS an awesome play by Mahomes! What the announcers failed to explain is that it was an awesome play because it resulted in a reception which allowed the clock to keep ticking, versus an incomplete pass which would have stopped the clock leaving more time for the Ravens comeback.
  7. I understand the safety factor, but ugh, they sure do look ugly. Would be nice if helmet designers could come up with a singular design that accomplishes the same benefit of the Guardian Caps. There is certainly something to be said for the aesthetics of uniform integrated helmet design, but of course, the good looks factor should rightly be trumped by safety considerations. The thing is, though, even if they could come up with a new helmet that accomplishes what the Guardian Cap does, wouldn’t then dawning a guardian Cap on top surely still reduce the risk of concussion even further? So where do you draw the line?
  8. I feel like I am picking the Colts, no matter who they are playing, just for the law of averages dictating that their winning the season opener is long LONG past due! Colts win. Go Colts!
  9. It’s for the best, so as to avoid an ongoing QB controversy.
  10. This was an issue that Andrew Luck had, even in his last stellar season. I very vividly recall asking myself, will he ever get spot on like Peyton Manning was in the latter part of his career? My point is, with Richardson, yes it also seems to be a bit of an issue, but he has only, what, 4 or 5 games under his belt, so no big worry about this, yet.
  11. Very disappointing, as I had high hopes he would (re)emerge as a potential stud TE. At this point, I hope he’s IR’d for the year and ca come back next year for one last shot to turn all that potential into productivity.
  12. My impression in seeing Flacco play, the Colts will be better if it comes to him, as compared to Minshew last year. Ergo, I feel Flacco is a better QB insurance policy than last season.
  13. I thought the league made it so teams can keep 3 QBs, without the 3rd counting vs the 53, no? If not, league is stupid for not going to 54 with that extra spot having to be a 3rd QB. More stupid, that they just don’t go to 55, with 3 having to be QBs.
  14. Woods, Ogletree, Mallory to be kept …. and maybe keep MAC for is acclaimed locker room / veteran presence as well? To me Granson is the cut, unless he is to be kept for a hybrid / non TE role.
  15. I didn’t notice Ogletree out there vs the Broncos. Anybody else notice him?
  16. I figured they’d be looking to draft a Ryan Kelly’s eventual successor and I approve of that thinking.
  17. On my list of 7 preferred players I would’ve been happy with the Colts getting with their round pick, 2 were CBs, 5 were not. I wanted a WR more than a CB. When coming up with preferred 7 list, I had not considered that the Colts would hold the first pick in the drafting of defensive players. Thus, I am excited for the DE. Because of the way the draft fell, BPA rightfully trumped what I perceived as need, in that first round slot.
  18. Wasn’t it just a toe? I mean, how can one be so worried because of a hurt toe?
  19. Loving Ballard’s new image and attitude! Hell ya!
  20. That is certainly what Ballard was saying. Not so sure I agree, though, but hope Ballard is right and the existing players take big steps forward.
  21. I was really excited when the Colts took Anthony Castonzo, when they took Ryan Kelly, and ecstatic when they took Quenton Nelson!
  22. Fantastic value pick. So many outlets had him rate 5th - 8th best WR in the draft.
  23. I am always an advocate for balance with leaning toward the team building concept of filling needs. All things being reasonably close to equal, I would then opt for need 10/10 times. This case, though, certainly sounds like BPA far out weighed need. I have no problem with the pick.
