  1. Repented!? He clarified them and within that clarification took shots at Polian and Dungy.

He shouldn't have to clarify comments when your President/CEO/Owner, it should be clear the first time.  I think he should just have the title of "owner" myself. But that's for another day.

  2. I hope some of the more vocal Colts fans can repent from their shallow, knee-jerk misinterpretations. :)

    LoL,

That depends on if he only repented because of the backlash from vocal Colt Fans. Was it a misinterpretation or regret?

Maybe he shouldn't put himself in that situation to receive backlash.

  3. I'm glad that Mr. Irsay repented on his comments.  If he intended it to say it that way in the first place, then maybe he should choose words better in the first place.

Guys, I'm rooting for the Colts, but I can't accept negative comments about Manning.  Manning is the Jordan of football.  Bulls fans still loved Jordan after he left.

  4. If Irsay didn't want his comments to be quesitoned or taken for a shot at Manning..he should have included in  there that

I Fudged up....I let Polian run the show, we should have built a more-balanced team during Manning's tenure.

Because offense can carry you into the playoff, but defense wins championship. During the PO the formula was keep Manning off the field... and it worked.  Bend don't freaking break does not work in the playoffs.

The game against the Chiefs and the Ravens, were won by our defense.  No first down allowed in the first half...AMAZING.

As Phil Simms once said "Manning was the band-aid that covered up the Colts flaws."

Geez Irsay - took you 12 years to realize that a balanced team was better????

    This is good stuff

  5. Wait. So your telling me every time a poster on here said "We need a more complete team, and not rely 100% on the QB" they were taking a shot at Peyton?

That's the dumbest thing I have ever heard.

It's the truth. It's not even controversial. It's what we've all thought for the past decade.

Because there is no reason we should only have won 1 ring with Peyton as QB. But we did because our system and design was flawed.

So the owner says they recognized the problem, and don't want to make the same mistakes, and fans are mad?

    Really? Get a grip.

We are mad because Irsay takes "ZERO" of the blame in those comments.  He should've said, I didn't support the best QB in History properly. But remember, with alcoholics, it is never their fault.....ever.

  6. I'm thinking you had your mind made up before you read what was said, and saw what you wanted to confirm your opinion.

I didn't go in with an opinion, or come away sharing yours.

You think losing in the playoffs was all Peyton's fault then?

  7. We get it. You hate Irsay. You're not saying anything anyone else who hates him hasn't said.

I'm with you TK. I will also be glad when this week is over.

This has nothing to do with the week, and everything to do with an owner who unfortunately owns the Colts and wants to be Jerry Jones.

  8. Your missing the point. But maybe we can discuss it once you stop whining like a little school girl. Peyton will always be my favorite player, but.... GET OVER IT!!!! Either ride with the team or be gone.

LOL, nice insult.  I'm thinking you didn't get the point. Please re-read or expain how only 1 superbowl is Peyton's fault.

  9. I'll be glad when this game/week is over

    :groan:

You should be glad when Irsay deletes his Twitter account and blames himself for the lack of SuperBowl Wins and not just one player.

So much for "the buck stops here" with Mr. Irsay.  He'll just throw anyone under the bus, including the one man who made his life relevant.

Without Peyton, Irsay's beloved Twitter Account would have 1/3 the followers.

  10. Your comment doesn't even make sense.  Your saying it is a negative to have the best QB of all time on your team. That is exactly what you are Mr. Irsay are saying.  If you say its because of money, then you'll end up hating Luck as well because if he becomes the player he should then he'll get a big contract too.  Then you'll want to dump him for a "total team".

TFunky, you are the first person in history to think that having Manning on a team is a bad thing.

  11. This guy is a joke to Indiana.  Peyton made football relevant in Indiana. Irsay is a rich boy's son who never worked a hard day in his life. I'm thinking he started to hit the bottle pretty hard again, actually that would be a good excuse for his comments.  Funny, he mentioned all those other teams with multiple SuperBowl wins.  They all had a DEFENSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Irsay and Polian failed to put a full team together each season, Peyton put those crappy Colts teams on his back year after year.

  12. Since I can't be sure who you are responding to, I'll assume it was my original post in this thread... but I'm confused... where am I awarding anybody medals? If you aren't responding to me, where has anybody handed out these awards?

Sometimes, when a potted plant gets root-bound, you need to remove it from the old pot, break up the root ball, and start with a fresh new pot. If you don't, the plant won't grow any more, and could die altogether.

You suggest Irsay hasn't done anything yet. You are entitle to that opinion, but I think you're wearing blinders. I think he has recognized that our team was getting root bound, and that it was time for major up-rooting. If that is turning the Horseshoe upside down, then yes he has, but I contend that it was absolutely necessary, regardless of how unpopular it has been. I don't know if it will lead to improvement or not, but it doesn't change the necessity of the action.

cutting PM 5 years early might not have been a necessity

  13. I got an headache reading this thread...

Please note: no one lied to anyone... PM and Irsay made a mutual decision that benefits both parties. Its hard to accept, but Colts wouldn't be a winning team even with Manning next season. We had a lot of holes on the roster. Rebuilding was necessary, and Irsay needed money for that. PM wanted a team to win with, and being in the race for SB. Irsay freed a cap space, and Manning has a contender team. No one deserved any hate in this story.

I hope thing will clear up in upcoming weeks, and we can focus on our team and football, instead of hating.

    Peace, Colts' Fans!!!! Please!!!!

only one thing will ever solve this: A superbowl win

  14. IIrsay hasn't done anything yet to improve this team, only time will tell. Stop giving him gold medals before the race has been run.

Irsay has turned the horseshoe upside down

until Luck wins a superbowl or Manning retires he doesn't deserve a break from fans who want to voice their opinion about what he's done to the horseshoe. To say it has improved it is just an opinion, just like my saying he's made a huge mistake.

  15. First of all, enough of the Irsay threads...it only divides us and reminds us of why we are divided.

Since some of you conveniently want to look at your favorite sports team as a business model (even though most people relate to the athletes ie: Jeremy linn, Tim Teebow, Delle Donne etc...), lets do just that shall we?

If Wins are currency and Superbowl wins are the epitome of financial success, then I would say these owners have been horrific outside of the 12 year run we had with Peyton Manning, which was in part due to Bill Polian.

    40 years : 1 Superbowl.

So, i get the "its a business" arguement. I just don't see the fiscal results.

I agree, and what was the stock price of Indiana t football prior to Peyton manning? penny stock

It's fun how fans can justify or support what Irsay has done by telling themselves it's all "just a business" and give him accolades prior to Luck doing something great. I'll give my accolades to Irsay once his plan = a superbowl

  16. I don't get why this is such a hard thing to or understand. Peyton was an unusual injury, being paid a high dollar contract, with a high cap, with an uncertainty of his level of play going forward, going to play tops 4-5 years and there is a replacement in this years draft that could be a near carbon copy. It comes down to 2 simple things, long term vs short term and money. To me, it is not that hard to really understand or accept but I think the main thing is some people don't want to accept it, thats all.

    carbon copy? please

  17. You make very valid points, just one question though, did Irsay get "pats on the back" from Peyton only after he won a SB? ... ... ...just wondering... ...I thought we all loved the decision made to draft Peyton long before that...IMO, for people to be put at ease Pagano and Luck will need to lead us to winning seasons. A SB Is the icing on the cake...again, my opinion here.

i like your optomistic view on the colts,

i'm just saying we have the right to know because we pay them $$
