  1. hence why I said we may trade back. Nabers, MHJ, Odunze, and BTJ will be gone by 15 most likely. If our other highly rated prospects are gone then a trade back is more than likely. I was high on BTJ and that’s why I’m bummed. But I’m ok with trading back. I’ve said in other threads I’d be ok with getting Arnold or bowers and grabbing someone like leggette if he’s there in the second so I’m not opposed to grabbing a WR later. I’m not one of these “end of the world” posters. Just really bummed that we had the chance to grab a certified dog at WR, if we were going to get him.
  2. because no way the chargers go into next season without upgrading their WR room. Mocks had them going OL but now without Williams or Allen, herbert needs someone to throw the ball to.
  3. Sneed to the colts for a 3rd this year and day 3 pick next year?! I like it. Now grab Diggs and resign Blackmon and I’m happy with this off-season.
  4. the way I interpreted that tweet was sneed doesn’t necessarily want to sign a contract after being traded. If money is the issue then once again, we need to move on. But idk, we’ve waited this long and now are kind of stuck.
  5. If we were to grab sneed and a FS I’d be happy with what we have: CBs: Sneed, Brents, Moore, Jones FS: FA signing SS: Blackmon (if we bring him back) id be happy with that defensive backfield. My issue would be the pass rush.
  6. So basically Sneed is fighting signing a new contract for the team he’s traded to. Wow, and we’re still trying to get this guy?
  7. Hard pass on Keenan Allen. Getting paid a lot. 32 years old. Can’t stay healthy. what this means though is a trade back is most likely going to happen. So many wide receivers are going to be gone by 15 and I don’t see us trading up. I was so excited about the thought of BTJ or Bowers coming to the Colts. But that’s not happening now. ugghh, this sucks. Maybe Arnold will be there at 15.
  8. He has the IQ and tackling ability to do so, but I don’t think he has the closing speed to hang.
  9. awhhh my bad, thought I had saw somewhere he could play FS. Meh, I’d like either of those 2 also
  10. This free agency so far for us has been meh. Loved that we’ve resigned our own but can’t say we’ve gotten better either. All is not lost however. There are still some players I see out there that can be brought in and provide instant help: - Julian Blackmon: not sure why he hasn’t been resigned yet. But I hope we do. - Kamren Curl: he’d be what we need at FS. Graded out as 67 on PFF. And he’s only 25 Im pretty meh on the corners and edges left.
  11. I like it. Won’t be able to run the same offense with him, but our offense won’t be limited to checkdowns either. Flacco is gonna let that thing go! He also has experience in big games and can mentor AR. i like it.
  12. they’re scared. They were one drive away from not making the playoffs against a team that didn’t have its dynamic rookie qb who handed it to them in 2 quarters the first time they played. yes, I do think this is them making strides to get better, but they see the division just like we do. This division will be tough. And right now it’s anyones honestly. but yeah. Let the Texans do this. It’s fine. They need it.
  13. Im fine with it. Whatever we have to do to sure up the trenches on both sides of the ball, I’m for it.
  14. and it makes sense according to what Ballard has been saying. Our CB room is very YOUNG and blamed himself for it. Figured we’d be looking for vet talent to fill it out. DE also. As I said above, we were ranked 30th hurries. That could be schem (which I think plays a part) but also need someone opposite of Ebukam to cause havoc.
  15. I agree about the asking price for sneed. But honestly, I don’t think we’re missing out. Our biggest needs are FS, CB, WR, DE. FS: Only player I’m bummed about missing out is McKinney, but seeing the price he went for, Ballard wasn’t going to pay that. There are some FSs out there we can get and would a big upgrade over who we have now. CB: seems we’re targeting sneed. Personally, I wouldn’t target him. He’s 3 years away from 30, will be very expensive, and could possibly get a cheaper alternative in the draft. But it is what it is. WR: draft class is stacked! No way ballard is going to pay 2 WRs $20million and eat up a big chunk of our available cap this year (at least I don’t think he would). We’re definitely going pass catcher in either the first or second round. DE: no way we were beating that Brian burns deal. I would’ve loved to get huff however. This is the one position I’m worried about us missing out on because it’s probably the biggest one. We ranked 30th in hurries. Just becoming mediocre in hurries would do wonders for this defense. All in all, I’m a little worried, not a lot, just a tad bit. I didn’t expect us to be big players this year, but did expect us to target some big players in a sense. We’ll see. It’s only day 2.
  16. yeah, only person I’m bummed about is McKinney. Especially seeing he didn’t go for what I thought he would. But someone on here said ballard mentioned not that kind of money for a safety, so maybe we have someone else we’re going after
  17. So sad about not getting McKinney and it wasn’t even for the $20mill per year I predicted
  18. We do, but we’re not there yet. My biggest complaint is that Ballard doesn’t attack FA aggressively, but I also think that doesn’t we have to spend the most money every free agency. When we’re a couple pieces away and have the talent, then I’d say go into win now mode. This team is not in win now mode, we don’t even know if ar can stay healthy for a full season yet. maybe we agree and don’t even know it. Like I think we need to spend money on a FS and elite every down de. I just think spending $20mill on a vet wr when the draft class is STACKED would be spending money unnecessarily.
  19. you pay to get better, but you also save where you can to keep acquiring talent. Why grab a vet wide receiver for +$20million when you have the opportunity to draft one to start for MUCH less. One thing we don’t want to do is blow our cap because we have a QB on a rookie deal. Kind of have to let the draft supplement FA. I agree, spend money on needs to get better, but if there are better or comparable options in the draft, I’d rather draft someone and use the money to address another need. Having $40 million tied up in 2 receivers will limit what we can do. We’d HAVE to hit in the draft.
  20. I predicted $22million per, we got him for $23.3million per year at face value. I’m extremely happy with this. Think this is a fair value for what he provides and where the cap is going. Good job colts!
  21. the best time to trade fields was when he had that great game on Thursday night. They could’ve easily got a second then. Now, everyone knows they’re trading him so they’re trying to drive the price down.
  22. Yup, if we want difference makers in free agency, we’ll have to pay for them. Not saying to be free agency champions, but if there’s a young stud that has proven he’s one of the best and consistent, go get him.
  23. Agreed on Simmons, was just bringing him up to show what his talent level gets him. And he was getting $15million/yr in Denver. But McKinney will definitely get more than what he was making with the Giants (which was $17million/yr). He’s 24, he was top 5 coverage and top 10 in tackling. i do believe what @throwing BBZ said regarding Ballard, that we won’t go for a McKinney due to his probable asking price, but personally I think it’s worth it. We won’t have any big contracts to pay after this year and we won’t have to pay AR big money for a while. I’d say spend that money now. Just my opinion.
  24. Welp, depends on what type of talent you want back there. The Justin Simmons and Xavier McKinneys of the NFL make $15-$17million. $8.5million will probably get you something good. After seeing our FS play last year and how we got beat deep, I’d pay the $15million-$20million. I don’t think people understand how important FS is to the scheme that we’re running. If we want blitz and get more aggressive, the safety play has to be excellent. The corner has to be good also, but the safeties and pass rush are the bread and butter of this defense we play.
  25. Simmons/McKinney and Blackmon in the back??? Yeah, no one’s throwing deep.
