That's fine.  Its just not what Holder said in his tweet, at least the part he chose to start with.

Personally, that's a great story, but I'd rather have someone with a great supportive upbringing who was a 5 star recruit and performed successfully in a major college program.  But the media likes to always root for underdogs, so take it with a grain of salt.

    So Josh Rosen, then?

So it seems that this is the way that every mock is going right now.  I still depends on the Senior Bowl, Combine and pro days.  Everyone seems to link Ballard with Love.  So I did an updated mock draft for after the Divisional round.

13 Jordan Love, QB Utah State

    34 Neville Gallimore, IDL Oklahoma

44 Prince Tega Wanogho, OT Auburn

    75 Jared Pinkney, TE Vanderbilt

112 Chase Claypool, WR Notre Dame

    142 Antonio Gandy-Golden, WR Liberty

    173 Alex Highsmith, EDGE Charlotte

190 Reggie Floyd, S Virginia Tech

204 A.J. Dillon, RB Boston College

I just did one myself, and came up with something very similar in terms of positions hit.

13 Jordan Love, QB Utah State

34 Cole Kmet, TE Notre Dame

44 Brandon Aiyuk, WR Arizona State

    75 Ross Blacklock, IDL TCU

112 Cole Van Lanen, OT Wisconsin

    142 Tyler Clark, IDL Georgia

173 A.J. Dillon, RB Boston College

    190 Jauan Jennings, WR Tennessee

204 Myles Dorn, S North Carolina

  3. I think the chance of Brown being available at 13 is roughly 1%.  That essentially means we'd be locking ourselves into 1 player.  I think a great DT can have similar effect on this defense as a QB can have on the offense, so either way I'm good.  If one of Lamb/Jeudy is there for some reason, I wouldn't be mad at that pick either.  I'd personally prefer a QB, I find myself falling victim to the Love hype, but as long as we don't pick a C or RB in the first, I think I'm going to be ok with whatever the pick is, lol.

I’m a huge Gordon fan myself. I’ve done numerous mocks and love getting him with 44. I am able to get some amazing talent at our first 2 picks. I also really still believe in Brissett. I did the Jordan Love mock because apparently that is what everyone wants. It’s gonna be a long 3 months. Lol.

    It really is.

It's also super interesting because there ARE so many different ways we can go at the most important position in football. We haven't been in this situation in a very very long time. Some, like myself, became fans after we had already drafted Peyton, so this is the first "real" franchise QB search, since Luck/RG3 was more of a media argument than an actual contest.

I'm very excited for the draft season.

I think you have to try and find replacement T regardless of AC returning.  A guy mulling retirement openly is coming back year to year at best.  And his heart isn't in it like it once was anyway...  This is where the Grigson era missing on entire drafts multiple years hurts.  We should have some roleplayers and developmental depth in that 25-28 year age range... But we have had to spend the last three offseasons, draft AND FA trying to play "catch up" it's still difficult to make progress on the roster while filling holes at the same time.   You shouldn't have to replace 99% of a roster in three years.... A lot sure, the majority even....   But not that much.

    *looks around for Doug*

  6. "Oh so if we criticize Ballard we're haters?  You guys are clowns!  Grigson was 11-5 his first 3 seasons!  Ballard should have had a HOF caliber person in the wings because he should have known Luck's heart wasn't in it!  All Ballard does is trade back instead of picking 100% surefire bonafide STUDS!  FACTS!  You guys are just so in love with him that you can't even admit he sucks!  Ballard needs to go!  Pacergeek 2020!"

Yeah, but if Ballard had traded for Garoppolo instead of Brissett, who was traded to San Fran a month later, the passing game would’ve been 100X better. :woah:

San Fran being in the NFC and with a coching staff Belichick respected played integral parts in that trade happening. Jimmy had no chance of being traded to the Colts, imo.

What about a compensatory pick for Andrew Luck leaving? Will we get a pick for that ?

Nope. He retired. Compensatory picks are for players that have contracts run out and sign elsewhere. The more they sign for (and play, and produce... there's a specific formula but I don't know what it is) the higher the pick, maxing out after the standard 3rd round ends.

Retired players do not count towards compensatory picks.

The fake punt game was actually very competitive before you know....the fake punt

C'mon man... first rule of the fake punt game...

We do NOT talk about the fake punt game.

    haha

  10. I really think AC comes back.  To me it sounded like he was saying if he wasn't going to play for the Colts, he would think about retiring.  Reich and Ballard have made it known how much they want him to come back.  QB should come in the draft, if no one is there that they like they could potentially just work on building the roster around whatever future QB they find while letting JB (or CK for the fan club) take us through 2020.  I think McLaughlin has done nothing to lose the job and I sure don't see AV coming back.  D-Line is a definite need, one that Ballard has specifically mentioned.  Could go FA with Chris Jones if he gets out of KC (in which case go ahead and pay the premium and get a horseshoe on his helmet) or Armstead (less excited, but still an upgrade).  Could also go draft with Kinlaw in the first or a couple others like Gallimore/Davis on day 2.  Could definitely use some secondary depth as well.

I completely agree with you, this offseason should be fun!  Especially all the FIRE BALLARD threads during the draft, lol!

Almost everyone in here seems to think everyone would be better than JB, that is the problem. That is false. If we drafted Donald Duck at this point, 80% of the forum would jump for joy. This team could've easily been 9-7 or 10-6 had it not been for injuries and a poor kicking game. If we just beat the Dolphins and the Jags we finish 9-7 and are the 6th seed.

We need an upgrade at QB but need to choose the right QB, not just anyone.

To be fair... Donald Duck at QB would definitely put butts in the seats.  I'd definitely make the trip to see the season opener (or even preseason) to see that.

I am sorry but I have to say this.  Why are we moving a thread about the Colts draft to another thread?  This forum name is Colts Football and it says "All things Colts football".  It does not say "All things Colts football except Draft, Scouting, and Free Agency talk."  Always amazes me when something like this is moved.  It was where it belonged.  Period.  Quit messing with stuff.  No reason to move.  This whole website has went straight downhill since the change.  No more desktop wallpapers unless you want them on a stupid phone or tablet.  Horrible navigation.  Awful desktop wallpapers.  Basically I don't come here much since it has been ruined, but when I do and see this I wonder what the heck are you all thinking who work on this?  Its an awful website and has been ruined.

And get off his lawn, ya hoodlums!

Bottom line if a QB they love is there that has to be the pick. Yes they won’t reach at 13.  Only if it’s the right QB.

I agree with this. It has to be a QB they love though.  If Jordan Love, or Herbert, or Eason is available, and they don't take that guy, then it's pretty clear they don't view that guy as franchise material. In which case,  taking a Kinlaw, or CB, or OT, or WR, or whatever, is understandable. The answers won't come until 2 or 3 years after as far as if it was worth it.

I must have missed them.   I don't see many with hate of Ballard.   Sure there will always be a few, but the vast majority are pleased with the current team.     The QB needs addressed.   If we have Brissett as the starter next season, I will not be happy with Ballard.

There really is just a few.  They are just a very vocal minority.  They tend to post in almost every thread so it makes it seem like they are more numerous than they are.

An early mock i saw, one of the ESPN guys, had him going top 3.  He sounds awesome.

Yeah, going into this season and throughout the majority of it, Jeudy was viewed as the clear cut #1 WR in this class.  CeeDee has done an amazing job getting his name up there in that tier, and has passed him in many people's view.  Can't really go wrong with either, though, I don't think.
