Another offensive coaching job for Reich to fill. So far Sirianni has taken Gannon, Patullo, and now Michael with him.

I thought league rules kept other teams from poaching coaches for lateral positions. Wonder if his contract with the Colts was up

Why is drafting an unknown entity considered so much better than trading for a known performer?

I've seen a lot of research the last couple of days that confirmed what we already know: it's really hard to find a good QB in the draft, including in the first round.

i dont disagree. my thinking on trying to draft one, assuming you don't give up the farm like the Redskins did for RG3, is that even if they fail, you're not out all the 20+ million. I guess that's my thought process.  These guys like Stafford, Fitzpatrick, Carr, Wentz are available for trade/sign for a reason. and are really beat up, Wentz the worse of course, than Stafford and so on. I still think people see what Tannehill has done for TN and they think that any QB changing teams will have a similar result. History is hit and miss on that.

  3. @NewColtsFanto answer your question, again, I don't know.  But I do know that trading, signing or otherwise acquiring another aged Vet at QB, one who's been beaten to hell by a crap team isn't a good solution, long term or short term.  Signing one would be one thing, but trading for one is giving up way too much, even a 7th for Wentz would be dumb. Stafford, not much better.

If Eason isn't the guy, and I have no idea if he is or isn't, then trade up in the draft and lets take a swing that way.

Well - if you are going to vomit then get it over with and get on the field!

When playing sports I was one of those guys.  Not always, but when I would get too hyped about a game I would puke - before the game started - and then everything would be great!  During one game - the league championship game when I was 12 I think - I puked in the huddle getting ready for the kick off.  We all rubbed it into the dirt with our shoes and then started the game!

    puke GIF

Believe it or not, yep, I only had the nerves hit me like that one, the morning of my last wrestling match my senior year in highschool. I wrestled pretty darn good that day but there was no way I was beating 6 top 10 ranked and undefeated kids to advance to semi state.

Not sure what to think of this? Does he want out? or has Ballard said something? IMO in the Indianapolis era (1984-2020), he is the 3rd best WR we have ever had only behind Marvin and Reggie.

Eh Yeah maybe, but the ty we saw the last two years is not the TY that exploded on the league. Speed and losing it doesn’t concern me at all. WRs slow down all the time as they age. Even the greats. TY can still get open.

that said, something that has concerned me the last two years with TY and even 2018 with Andrew Luck, TY has been missing catches. Dropping passes he when younger made in his sleep. I’m sure someone will say something about his stat line and what not, but drops are about the most subjective stat out there. Besides the drops, I don’t see him fighting for the ball on contested catches like he used too as well. This is the same exact path that Reggie Wayne had to go down, same thing with Andre Johnson. I’m seeing the exact same things they had happen their last years playing happening to Ty the last couple of seasons. It’s still sporadic, and he did string together a few good games. But the whole outweighs the few.

I think you let him go.

    OK.....

Found it.   There's a section, roughly 11:30 minutes long.

It runs from approx 35:00 to approx 46:30.

Kevin almost downplays that he he has sources,  says he's heard talk,  but he makes a very strong and compelling case where he connects the dots.     And the dots seem to connect.

Dodds interviews for the Detroit job.   Somewhere in that talk,  the Lions likely share that Stafford wants to move on.  And the Lions will look to trade him.    That there's no way that Rivers would retire after talking up wanting to come back,  after recently moving his family to Indy, and his kids have been enrolled in exclusive schools in the area,  and then turn around and suddenly hang 'em up.    That Indy wanted to treat Rivers with respect and likely said to him that he can handle his retirement any way he wants,  and the colts will support that.    Kevin says Indy fans should feel good if this is true,  because to him it signals that Indy and Ballard have a plan.   He also turns around and says if the trade for Stafford doesn't work out,  then he hopes they can trade up and draft their QB of the future.   That things will get difficult for the Colts if the Stafford deal doesn't happen,  the Colts situation suddenly looks much more difficult.

Kevin clearly says this is his interpretation of the events.   I think he makes a strong argument.   But he does not cite sources.  He didn't get an inside tip.   But this is how he thinks the scenario played out.

Go listen to the passage.   See what you think.

Kind of explains why he broke the new of his retirement thru the San Diego press too.

although I might actually vomit if we go get Stanford or wentz

Time cures all. Baltimore fans were mad understandably so they lost their team. I dont think it was public knowledge at the time that the city was attempting to some what illegally seize the team.

Although it is funny as heck that some STILL remain upset to this day given that this info has become public knowledge. As well as others have mentioned the Colts have been in Indy longer than Baltimore at this point and Bal embraced a new team from another city, Its kind of contradictory to cheer for the current Ravens and still be upset about the old colts, but those people are out their.

They held highly publicized and open to the public hearings on it for months

It is but we really don't know where we will drafting after the trade.   Just because we draft one doesn't mean he will be good enough to start.  Look at Clark.  I think he was a 3rd rounder.  Protecting Stafford's blind side is going to be really important.

What trade? It’s all speculation at this point

As I have posted before, I believe the Texans would do it for 3 1st rounders = 2021, 2022, and 2023. They would have several 1st round picks with that and their own. I am not sure Ballard would do that but I believe that is what it would take. That is a fair trade in reality. We would still have picks 2-7 in those 3 seasons + a franchise QB and they would have a lot 1st round picks. With Watson we could still re-sign Nelson and Leonard pretty easily and keep JT and Pittman for the long haul as well. Buck is under contract for 4 more years luckily.

i agree with this. But i don't it would happen

  10. 1 hour ago, Nesjan3 said:

Watson is not official at all, he has a no trade clause. I heard if the Texans play hardball his only option is to pull a Carson Palmer is cincy and say "trade me or ill retire"

He no trade clause can be rescinded by his request to a specific team, that’s what they just said during the pre-game before the packers/bucs game

  11. 3 minutes ago, richard pallo said:

Watson's going to the 49'ers or Jets.  Stafford is going to the Colt's.

I doubt he leaves the Texans for the Jets. He has a clause in his contract, he has to approve wherever they try and trade him too. He’s gonna want to go to a contender not another perennial bottom feeder

I think Colts have to many positions to fill to start giving away draft picks. Need a #1 receiver. Need a #1 man corner. Need a LT

I completely agree. Unless the pipe dream with a snowballs chance in hell happens, otherwise, we need our 1 this year. It’s been 3 years since we’ve made a number 1 selection

Which is why if we did deal our 1st rounder I would want it to be for CB Marshon Lattimore.

Id rather just bring Xavier back and keep the 1

I’m gonna go with Dan on this one. Rhodes played well for us. I’d bring him back

LT's r usually picked high in the draft. They maybe lucky to find one in the 2nd..

Normally yeah but I think with a run on skill plays in the top 10, there’s a chance one starting caliber LT drops to us. Though I think I’d jump up if I could to find one
