  1. I’m one of Ballards biggest supporters on here but I can say that I see where the theory Ballard focuses or prioritizes RAS scores or athleticism originates from. It does at times appear that way on the surface. Especially when he’s taken guys that are or at the top of the charts in RAS scores the last few years. now I don’t think that is the only thing he focuses on. But I do think there is a lot more weight given to that category vs the rest of the league.
  2. Based on Ballards presser yesterday, I’m thinking it’s WR or CB. Depending on how you look at his comments, was he deflecting, or was he being sincere or both when discussing our young CBs? If he truly does think we’re good there, I think it’ll be WR.
  3. Houston says hi… they moved up for big Anderson last year and traded a fortune to do it.
  4. I hope you’re right. Granted, there is no guarantee of an impact player at pick 1, let alone 15, the chances are higher in your favor. Though the later rounds can and do yield some stars too, Pittman, JT, Downs, Braden, Bethea, Purdy, the evil number 12 that finally retired, etc
  5. I’m thinking a trade back is most likely. I’m just hoping it’s not out of the 1st round(unless there’s a future number 1 given, then I might be okay with it)
  6. Hmm this is gonna be an interesting 6 days
  7. I don’t think it’ll be a big splash. I think it might be a multiple tiny splash thing, I think they might sign a few more hungry second tier players or possibly trade up a bit. Or they could do nothing. typically Ballard goes into the fall with around 10-15 million to roll over or use in season. That leaves us roughly 10 mil or so to play with going into the draft and post draft signing period now if later tonight or tomorrow they cut Mo Allie Cox, I’d say something big was coming but otherwise, I agree that it likely isn’t a major one
  8. Not all of it but say you trade up from 15 to 5(random number here), unless I’m mistaken, a rookie at number 5 makes more than a rookie at 15.
  9. Right but it didn’t HAVE to be done right now unless they just wanted the flexibility for the “what if” thing arises
  10. His point is why do that when it’s not required. Dropping that much on an extension is done with an intent for the short term only. Now what that is or if the plan actually goes through is another matter, but this type of move is pretty much exclusively done around the league to free up short term salary cap.
  11. I’m wondering if clearing room for a trade up perhaps. Or a trade for an established player.
  12. He was mocked as high as 6th that year and nearly every mock had him gone by 15. I know, I was pounding the table for him that year. Read all the reports and scouting videos to the point I had them memorized. the fact we got him at 21 at the time was considered an A+ by all the draft pundits. that said, I think he’s been solid but needs to finish more
  13. Fair enough and I can see how you have arrived at that thought process. And I’m not saying you’re wrong either. I’m just saying I’m gonna withhold my judgement on it all until next off season. For me, this is the make it or break it year for Ballard. Assuming AR is as good as hyped and can stay healthy, going into next FA is when I expect to see some more aggression, not expecting the Texans level of course, but more aggression I think would be warranted. Until then, I think the guarded approach is okay until we know what we have or don’t have with AR. i keep saying this, but people need to understand where Ballard came from. The Chiefs, this is the very same MO they used prior to the Mahomes era. Once they got Mahomes, they became far more aggressive but not stupidly aggressive either. And they became more attractive as a team for FA. In fact, the chiefs were drafting roughly where we have have been, last year not with standing, when they finally traded up for Mahomes. we are literally the chiefs before Mahomes. A solid roster that is on the cusp of playoffs but yet not consistently getting there. We have a solid core roster but not a star roster. Mahomes elevated that roster and I think they are expecting AR to elevate it some as well. But we still need weapons. We don’t have many
  14. I really don’t see that type of Defensive player in this draft. But there’s always surprises. But I agree, we’ve got to go offensive fire power this year. At least in the first.
  15. I don’t think we’ll address the DL at all in rounds 1-4. I think we’re happy with who we have currently and will give the new DL coach a chance to see what he thinks over the next season.
