  1. Plus, Newton is dumb. Among the young quarterbacks he is by far the last one I would want.

Well, he is dumb enough to be a multi-millionaire. I see nothing dumb about him but since you bring it up, I never thought Farve was a mental giant either. You are spoiled by having two of the smartest QBs ever in the league taking up residence in Indy....

  2. Yep, and I still don't think the Panthers would. If Cam can display leadership and screw his head on tight the sky is the limit for him. Guy is a great talent and a lot of people with the exception of Panthers fans forget his stupendous first 2 years in the league because of the success of the rookies last year.

I think it is Cam that will set most of the records for QBs in the NFL. He is bigger and stronger that the other QBs and almost as fast as RGIII. If I had the choice between Luck and all of the others, I would take Cam Newton and that isn't meant as a putdown to any of the others.

  3. I wouldn't trade for none of those guys. Luck has the potential to be as good a probably better then all of them in the coming years. I know its not been proven yet but we kinda already got an inkling after what he was able to manage last year with a below avg team that very banged up. Lucks potential is off the charts. Newton is Athletic and strong but I don't see him being the caliber of QB Luck will most likely develop into. Rodgers is great but Luck in 2-3 will probably be right there with him maybe even better. I'm not trading the potential we have with Luck. This kid has some very special abilities and a very very high ceiling.

Well, you don't have to worry. Not one of those teams would trade their QB for Andrew Luck..... Now if you threw in a number one draft pick..... nah, they wouldn't do that either.

  4.  Andrew Luck is not available, he will be the determining factor for future success. If he is a franchise QB, which at this point I believe he is, there is no way in the world that trading him would make us better.

I know he is not available and none of the players I would trade him for are available either. Here is a list of players I would trade for Luck. Aaron Rogers, Cam Newton, RGIII, Wilson and Matt Ryan. I left off the old guys who are a lot better but only have a short time left. I would be tempted by Stafford too but I wouldn't do it.

  5. I've seen every game since the team moved to Indy. Peyton struggled his rookie year, but showed signs of greatness. Just like Andrew did last year. I am one of Peytons biggest fans, and i was upset by the desicion to let him go. But it's over.

I don't disagree with that but I just don't think Luck will be anywhere close to what Manning has been his whole career. That is my opinion that I value highly. Now at the end of this year or next year, one of us will be coming back here to say, "I was wrong." I'm betting it won't be me.....

  6. please provide me the facts.

Just read a little bit here. People expect the best QB season in history from him. People started holding up signs that said "Suck for Luck" at midseason. For a QB who was not the Heisman Trophy winner and didn't win a national championship he was the most hyped player in NFL history. If that is your point that I am saying "overhyped" as opposed to "hyped", I think that is a matter of interpretation. I think it is a fact that he was the most hyped player coming into the NFL ever... If you disagree, well, read some articles around that time....

  7. If you are from Indy, then you should remember the Bob and Tom show with the song they played about the Colts and Peyton. Every week they played it. Poking fun at the #1 draft pick being  0 and 1 then 0 and 2. We listened to it EVERY day all season long. I worked on the Lilly building and the airport building at the time, and it go old fast. Kinda like listening to you. :36dancing:

"Lord Help Out Colts" by Duke Tomato?

  8. actually it isn't a fact. For something to be a fact you need.... well facts. And you have none. He is the most overhyped in your opinion. Don't confuse the two

The fact that he is the most overhyped player in NFL history is not an opinion, it is a fact. He may live up to all of that hype but I rather doubt that anyone can and he certainly won't.

  9. I see that you are con

I see that you are convinced. Did you even see Manning's rookie year? I did. He never underthrew receivers on long routes like Luck routinely does. He didn't consistently throw behind receivers on short routes but Luck did. Manning was much better as a rookie at reading defenses. Yes, Luck won more games. With a few breaks, that season is 5-11 instead of 11-5. He won't be as Lucky this year (pardon the pun). He may be a great QB in time but I don't think he will ever catch up with RGIII, Wilson or Cam Newton for that matter. I think Newton will post numbers for a career that Luck won't approach but that is just my take on it.

  10. Including Andrew Luck, Vick Ballard, Robert Mathis, Vontae Davis, & Reggie Wayne?

Yeah...... glad you're not the GM. We'd be up the creek then

Mathis and Wayne are getting old. Note that I said something that would improve the team. That doesn't mean giving anyone away. You have to trade something to get something. I wouldn't trade Ballard or Davis unless it was a great package and the Colts really fleeced someone.

  11. his rookie numbers say other wise. While that doesn't set it in stone he will be Peyton at least it's something tangible to go off of rather than an opinion of someone who is clearly still bitter about Peyton and is letting that cloud his judgement when it comes to Andrew.

I don't see what you see in his rookie numbers. The fact is that Luck is the most overhyped player in NFL history and you can see posts on this site that predict that he will have the greatest QB year in NFL history this year beating records for TDs, yards and completion percentage. I don't see anything close to that but even Peyton Manning would not be able to live up to the expectations people have for luck. I see Las Vegas and other experts predict that the Colts will not make the playoffs. I wonder if people will come down to earth a bit if that happens. I doubt it. They will just make excuses for Luck like they did all last year.

  12. Umm...... when did Andrew Luck become a God?

Just read the posts here. Several people are predicting that he will have the greatest season in NFL history. I don't think he will come close to that. But I am not allowed to say much about it without having a moderator all over my behind. I think he is very good. He may even be great someday but he isn't right now. That is all that I think about the subject.

  13. Finally decided to stop pretending?

I don't know what you are talking about. If I say anything less than Andrew Luck is the greatest QB in NFL history, people start posting this in a response to me. I thought it was automatic when someone considers Luck something short of being a god? Am I wrong?

  14. Stephen.....

Don't know if you're aware of this, but what you think is the more realistic scenario for Luck has him throwing 500 times and completing 380 of them.   That's 76% which I think would be a new NFL all-time record by about 4-5 percent.

I think the chances of that happening this year are pretty close to...........  zero.

His completion percentage this year will likely be in the 60's....    the question is, will it be the low 60's or the mid-60's?

I doubt his first year in this system he'll jump to the high 60's.

Respectfully,  I think those are far more realistic numbers....

    Just some food for thought.....

  15. I said last year after we drafted Luck that he was being overhyped, and that my feeling had very little to do with his ability. He is a tremendous talent and is going to be a dang good quarterback. I've said that I think his worst case scenario is Ben Roethlisberger / Matt Ryan. That's a dang good player. But some of these expectations are just completely unreasonable. If he's going to complete 76% of his throws and shatter the current touchdowns and yardage records, when is he going to find time to cure cancer, stop climate change, and eliminate gun violence? Do people even think about all these things???

I'm really happy with him and his play, and I expect good things from him, but like you say, people need to temper their expectations.

  16. yea because we won so many super bowls with peyton. check your history. peyton's playoff failures follows him where ever he goes. it has nothing to do with what team hes on. he couldnt win in college. he only one with us and along with 7 one and dones and hes not gonna win in denver.

He has won one and been to another one. Luck has never won anything other than some regular season games. The result last year was one and done. Luck couldn't even beat RGIII for the Heisman Trophy or the Rookie of the Year award. RGIII will beat him to the Super Bowl and an MVP and Wilson might just do that too....

  17. so your saying peyton in his 2 at most 3 years he has left has a better chance then luck in winning a super bowl who still has a good 12 years to do so

Absolutely. We know Peyton can get there and he is on a good team. We have no idea if Luck can get there or not. That doesn't mean that he won't but I would bet against it. Check how many years the Colts went before Peyton took them to a Super Bowl. You have that long of a wait again.

  18. See that's what I don't get people who say "I root for Luck and the Colts," but everyone knows they would be the most happy if he crashed and burned so they could go, "See I told everyone letting Peyton go was a mistake!"

Just own it, because its not like you hide it well lol.

I think I have made is quite clear that I already think the Colts made a big mistake.

  19. Like I said. Depression makes people think crazy crazy things lol.

Also is the mentality of most who haven't gotten over Peyton. It's more important to root against the new guy, Luck, than to cheer for him with the chance he might actually replace Peyton's importance to the franchise.

Tough spot for some I suppose.

Not tough at all. I root for Luck not against him. But I don't but super unrealistic goals for him either. He is a second year player. Just as many or more second year players step backwards as go forward. I am waiting to see what he does.
