Good player but raw and not a choir boy. He'll most likely be gone before 20 but is probably not as high on Ballard's board anyway. Greg Little and Kaleb McGary are more likely to be in play, but they are Ballardesque value looks at 34 (Little) or 59 (McGary).

If there's a Colts cheerleader who can pull off a legit Ygritte (accent included) I'll be in Indianapolis by midnight... even if I have to hijack a dragon to get there.

Where's my :dragon: emoji when I need it? Not even a blue one? C'mon man!

At least you didn't say lets hope Cain is Abel....
Somewhere in the crowd this year you will see someone with a Cain is Abel poster as Cain dusts someone off into the end zone.

I hadn't read much about this film series before it was out. It was very enjoyable. I understand that they can't give us too much specific information regarding the process itself (as explained in earlier posts) but it still had the FEEL of a truly inside look. If nothing else, it validated the level of confidence I've felt in the front office since Ballard arrived. This series is great for everyone involved. Happy to be a part of the community.

They're OK, but other posters were correct in pointing out how they are close to some of the old unis. I get that they're trying to make a splash with their new franchise QB and shiny new FA's. Just thought they'd go in a NEW direction. Helmets are legit.

1) Lonnie Johnson, Jr. is the first CB off the board.
2) The Colts wind up with no picks in the first round but 3 apiece in rounds 2 (all defense) and 4 (all offense).
3) Three Mississippi State players go in the 1st (Sweat-TB, Abram-SEA, Simmons-NE)
4) The Redskins draft D.K. Metcalf, who will be out of the league in 5 years... but seen on Muscle Beach in Venice, CA with Kordell Beckham and LaRon Landry every 3rd Sunday.

I think if your a team like the colts where you feel you are just one or two players away from a SB you pull the trigger to get your guy.
This could very well be the logic behind a trade-up this year.

It's interesting that the Devin White example came up. 11 is the highest I could see Ballard trading up to and White is the one guy I wouldn't mind seeing him spend the resources on. Imagine him and Leonard there for a decade plus just ruining plays over and over. It's my greatest wish of 2019 draft fantasies.

Well, I guess we won't hear much more about this until after the draft. With the Eagles out of the running, there's nobody else after Ajayi that bad. Between the knee and the upcoming draft there's no point in making an unnecessary move in regards to RB.

What season has Andrew Luck ever been our QB all season and we've won less than 10 games? I'll take the over.

I think we go 12-4, finish 2nd in the AFC, and have a first round bye. I'm not a Vegas sharp though so don't place any bets on what I say!

OL Depth

Otherwise, no obvious glaring holes on roster, other than to continue building depth.
You can never have too much depth in the trenches. Look at the Cowboys last year with Travis Frederick lost for the forseeable future and Zack Martin missing time.

From a strategic perspective, if Abrams and Rapp are both still there at 26, it's a pretty safe bet that one one of them would still be there at 34. That being the case, review that situation again there.

Ajayi! Ajayi! Ajayi!
I can't help it. I think he'll be great in Indy. I know he'll look awesome in the best uniform known to the NFL. I want a mulligan on Frank Gore. Give me some Ajayi. Let's try it.

To answer the original question, I'd be fine with Fant if it's part of the plan. Luck and Reich seem to be the foremost experts on exploiting match-ups from that position... and getting them the ball.
I'm starting to hear grumblings of Funchess playing the slot and the Colts wanting a Top-5 run game. We've already got the best O-line in the game. This type of offensive philosophy suggests a ball-control offense consisting of clock control and short, precision passing to win 10-yard fight while creating the constant threat of play-action chunk plays at any moment. This is the hallmark of a brilliant offensive mind in Coach Reich. It's not new. It's just being applied to it's maximum potential with the unique talent right here in Indy. If Fant is the future of that machine, I'm all for it.

I'd fish for a good trade. Maybe GB will come up, and give up their 4th rounder. Then I'm at #30.
Is that a cop out?
I don't think so. Unless Fant or Tillery are really that high on the big board... you do trade down. If all the safeties are on the board, then a good one will still be there in the 2nd. Normally you're going to get some extra love in terms of trade compensation when you trade down in the 1st.
I hate us being so far down the conveyor belt, but such is the price of success. I like the idea of multiple second round picks, especially if you can create a situation where you have back-to-backers. "We've got the next 2 picks and nobody can do anything to stop it." I like that.

Don't be surprised to see an offensive tackle or center come off the board in the first 3 picks, trade-down picks notwithstanding. With teams addressing so many other positions it may prove easy to cherry-pick a starting-caliber T or C. If the value is there, we could let him develop around great players and either replace them (Ryan Kelly, et al) when they hit FA or trade them to a needy team. Meanwhile you've got years of depth protecting our franchise's greatest asset.
Imagine what the Saints might have given after Max Unger retired. They were willing to pay $6 million a year for Nick Easton

They have 5 dollar gas station steaks? Have I been missing out?
I bet Bjorn Werner gets them on his 18-wheeler routes through Texas.

He's on the back end of the elite DE grouping and is the most likely candidate to still be there at 26... so it was worth mentioning here. I haven't studied up on him but will be doing so shortly.
I think it's too costly to trade up for any of those guys from where we stand but it sure would be nice to have one fall right into CB's lap.

I am starting to believe that Marquise Brown is the WR the Colts will target, either at 26 or 34. With Funchess and Ebron, we've got ample possession/red zone presence. Having another guy like T.Y. can instantly remove the dreaded doubles. What can Brown do for you? Draw coverage and blow the top off on any snap. Problem solved.
I think Ballard is so disciplined that the board and draft flow will dictate every pick, making it very difficult to predict what number we will land a guy at. If there are a lot of safeties available at 34, might as well go BPA (passing over Abram) and see what's happening at 59 (Rapp, Savage, Hooker). I can't wait to see it unfold.
