C is the ONE position on the OL that one cannot "fire" off of the ball on every snap. The SNAP has to be completed.
It is not a position were one will dominate the NG or DT. A C's job is simply to "divert" or "guide" them in the direction the play wishes the DL to go.
And an OL does not need to pancake their opponent every play. Just get in the way.
Nobody... and I mean NOBODY really knows how this draft will turn out. All I know is Indy hit on the RIGHT positions.
I agree... except I felt like we did not address the CB position at all. At least in the draft.

I was hoping he would get a linebacker number since that is the position they a re moving him to. Oh well guess I know what other jersey I will be ordering along with the Luck jersey I will be getting. LOL i have to update my jerseys since they are all outdated now, and Werner makes sense since I am a FSU fan also.

I define bust as a player that can't even make it through their first training camp.....regardless of what round they were drafted in. After that, it is just different levels of accomplishment or disappointment.
Sooooo JaMarcus Russel and Ryan Leaf both made it through there first training camps. Would you not consider them busts?

There was no Vontae in this year's draft. He showed in the Ravens playoff game he is money. They did nothing when they threw at him in the 1st half. Cornerback is now a strength IMO.
I highly disagree with this. We have Vontae true but what about the rest of conerback crew? I also valued alot of the cornerbacks in this draft higher Vontae on potential.

You sure about that? Might want to take a look at the last week and a half to two weeks cause his stock was picking up steam and fast. He was already a fringe first rounder before his stock picked up.
Geno Smith was also predicted to go in first rd...same with Nassib. Neither of them went first, honestly it just has a reach feel to it. I will need to see some more tape of Eifert but he just doesn't seem like a 1st rder to me.

Falcons, Cowboys, and Ravens could have been interested in him as well, I think. I could imagine a few teams trading up for him too. I agree that Manuel was a reach, guy was projected as maybe a second-rounder. One of the bigger shocks of the first round.
I just think he would've dropped cause nobody was really in need of an 1st rd TE cause teams had other glaring needs.

Nah, some thought he would be taken higher. I think it was a good move by the Bengals, everyone thought they were taking a RB.
Really I read a couple of mock drafts having him go late 1st but even then...with who was left on the board I doube they were running for a TE...unless the Cowboys jumped up and grabbed him. Also Manuel was a reach too they def could have waited on him.

Tyler Eifert...SMH def not worth that pick...if ytou want him trade down and he will still be there.

I still think the Corner position needs to be looked at. Toler's 4 yr career he has only started a total of 15 games although one year he was out the whole season, but last season he started in only 2 games and played in 11 and were asking him to come in and start every game? but that is beside the point, point is after butler who do we really have that we could have step in if Toler,Davis, or butler go down?? nobody can trust vaughn. so i believe Cornerback is the area of need still. but i wouldnt make a trade and give up our 2nd rounder. I would wait to see who gets cut, and go from there.
I'm in total agreement with this. We adrressed the CB need yes but depending on how these UFA work out I see us still thin at the position.Thing is I don't wanna give up draft picks to get anybody else though. I like Vontae Davis but he is another guy that was battling injuries. I would really like to see us address this need next year in the draft. I was really hoping we would land a guy like Rhodes, Banks, Slay, one of these guys coming into the 2013 draft but we didn't. I don't see us gaining anything by using a draft pick on a vet. We already gave up one pick next year to get a DT...we can't afford to keep losing draft picks.

Hughes never really had a chance when he was sitting behind both Freeney and Mathis.... so you cant really say he is a " bust "
I say Hughes is a bust because we wasted a first rd pick on him. If anything we could have traded down and still got him or got someone better. Maybe Carlos Dunlap or something but Hughes never lived up to first rd draft status. Thus why he was traded away today and we addreessed the spot in FA and in the draft. We couldn't depend on his production. One more slip up in the last of the Polian days.

I have been one of those whining. I trust Colts Management all the way...With that said There was so many CBs available that I thought we would at least get one big to mid range name name. We have decent to avg Cbs but they seem to always seem to get hurt. It we are like 2 injuries away from being a grade above trash (as far as coverage goes) on the secondary IMO. Also Vontae Davis is in the last year of his contract who is to say he doesn't leave?

I understand drafting Lineman...but I personally wanted a game changing CB to team up with the others that we have.!

This draft is hurting my feelings...what are the colts doing?! If we go O line get Barret Jones cause I'm sick of Satele...Poyer was also availiable but we got with Hugh?! Since we drafting at random these days maybe we should get another back up Qb how does Barkley sound?! SMH

We aren't drafting needs this year just reaching on luxury players.
This is the type of drafte were we should be drafting needs though. We need a CB and what do we do miss our oportunity to get one to pair up with Vontae...SMH.

I'm so upset that we had an opportunity to get almost any CB we wanted and instead went after a pass rusher which we could have picked up later...Now most of the big time corners are gone...Yay for us!

Rhodes is one of the stiffest corners??? Look man I'm a huge FSU fan...just as bifgo f a fan of them as I am for the Colts....With that being said, I believe Werner is a 1st rd candidate. Just had a bad combine that's all. This guy produces, but he is a 4-3 de not a 3-4 olb. Last time I checked we were running a 3-4 hybrid D. He doesn't fit the scheme right now. I believe in coach Pagano and I believe that Werner freakish athletic ability on field combined with him being new to the game can help him become the player that we will want him to be. Is Rhodes a little stiff yes but he is also a big corner who can play cover press, and Pagano could teach him alot. Pagano was DB coach for many years. It also would give us better depth at CB because we could've started Davis and Rhodes and saw more of an immediate impact. I don't know much about our FA pickup Toler but I do know he has an injury history and I'm not sure how comfortable I am with him starting, I however read some good things about him. I just realize how much Rhodes would've have helped. Oh well we got Werner and I'm happy with him. I just would've been more happy if we had him in out Cover 2 4-3 we used to run, but like I said I believe in the coaching staff.
As far as trading up...we should package something up and get another 3rd rd cause this is a meat and potatoes draft that is really deep. Also being from Alabama I watch a lot of Bama games and I do not want Lacy... He is a good rb but Ballard is just as good as Lacy. Lacy is pretty good product of Saban and the behemoths he has up front. If you are expecting Ingram or Richardson...think again. Let Brown play out the final year of his contract and we can search for backs in next years draft. Also we can pick up a FA back for depth this year on a 1 year deal.

I am a FSU fan...Werner is a great pick but I really wanted Xavier Rhodes there. What happens...Vikings get him with the next pick. That would have been awesome to pair him with Vontae on the other side. Again I really like Werner but he is a 4-3 DE at FSU and Grigson and Pagano talk about using him as an OLB. I don't know about that. I could be wrong but I just don't know about that. I hope we work something out get a 2nd rder cause I would like the Colts to target a CB and an OL. I like Banks, Slay, and Poyer at CB and Barrett Jones at OL.

I agree with what you said here too. I just felt like with so much depth in the draft at CB we could have gotten one. I felt like we could have gotten a number 2 cb to go across Vonta maybe who could become a number one if Vontae leaves.
