  1. Nice post! I think some people might be overlooking a crucial point in this conflict: Taylor and his agent are not only at “war” with the Colts, they have taken on the whole NFL. A battle they will never win. It is unclear to me whether Taylor understands this and is taking one for the “RB team”, but you can be sure that a lot of NFL owners and GM are NOT upset with Irsay right now… think about that…
  2. This was done out of respect to Gilmore that wanted to play for a contender, not because the move was good for the Colts short term. Ballard love Gilmore and he said as much in his presser.
  3. Now tell us how you really feel about Irsay! Irsay can be colorful no doubt and he does speak out on NFL matters at large, but I like that as it add spice to following the Colts, and I don’t think he have hurt the Colts much over the years in regards to the standing in the NFL owner’s group. Yeah, the drug (possession) thing was an all-time low, and I personally think he screwed Luck up with a terrible GM and a questionable HC, but I neither see Irsay as a man child or the Colts organization as a clown show. Then again, I’m probably one of the very few that liked his impulsive firing of Reich and hiring of a temp HC.
  4. Good post. I think it is now 100% certain that Taylor will not get a new contract with the Colts before season starts as long as he keep that agent. Not a chance. In addition, Ballard very clearly hinted during his presser that they wanted to see how it all worked out in regards to the running game before he wanted to talk a new contract. The big question is how Taylor is going to navigate this tension between his agent on one side and Irsay/Ballard on the other side. I think the best way to reset this is to get a new agent, but that might smell like defeat to Taylor. Not a great situation, sigh….
  5. Yeah, that is why I think their pairing will be critical for the team’s success. But we will see soon enough.
  6. Very nice to see, he and AR need all the time they can get to build chemistry and rhythm.
  7. I hope some of you folks going there will report a bit on your impressions of the players here on the forum!
  8. That would be a decent prize for them, no doubt.
  9. Not for us as we’re not a contender by far, but crazy they couldn’t even make a trade?
  10. Crisp tempo? Music to my ears, maybe this team will finally show up for the first game and be ready!
  11. If anything, I think that Ballard and Reich was too aligned on their thinking on how to construct the team and that ended in a stalemate, not enough fresh ideas and challenges to offset the status quo, and the blood basically stopped running through the veins of the team, so to speak. When Reich was fired, it was practically only Irsay talking at the presser about it, Ballard was just sitting there , like he was almost not a part of it. Very telling. I just think Irsay had enough of Frank and wanted to send some shock waves through the dying team with the hire of Saturday. Not sure he really was thinking he would be the HC, long term, no matter what he said. He basically held Ballard out of firing Frank and finding the interim HC, but was doing this as a favor to Ballard, not the other way around.
  12. Well, we also need our run blocking to show up, which is not a given when you think about last year’s OL performance.
  13. Which country are you living in, I don’t think I ever picked that info up during the draft bonanza?
  14. Yeah, high RAS score + looks decent on tape + played in Senior Bowl = automatic pick!
  15. “And I don’t want to leave” - that is music to my ears!
  16. I think that makes the Reich era finally over…
  17. Well, we don’t know the price of moving up for the Colts but unless Ballard was very certain that no team would realistically move up for a QB, I feel that gamble was a bit too risky for my taste. But hey, it worked out, so big cojones!
  18. Having seen it a couple of times now, I’m kinda surprised Colts didn’t move up to third pick if they really wanted AR. I think there was a split moment when Ballard was kicking himself for not doing just that! Boy did he looked relieved when he heard that the lovely Texans was the ones trading up….
  19. I think most of us in this thread are talking about this off season for the coming 2023 season. But otherwise good points.
  20. Yep, Texans did us a solid there. Just as when they let us loose that last game last season!
  21. I’m getting the feeling that Irsay have finally gotten to his senses and think long term instead of this win-now-but-not-really mess the Colts have been in ever since Luck quit on the team.
  22. Highly unlikely that they will go for that. Now, they might start Richardson and he might be so bad that they conclude that it is negative to his progression and sit him for some games, but nobody cares about playoffs unless Richardson plays lights out and get Colts in contention for a wildcard spot - in which case they will clearly play Richardson. Having said all that, I would not be surprised if they mix Minshew and Richardson playtime within each game.
  23. Yeah, was just trying to find the information on that one too?
