Happy Draft Day to the folks who are in Indiana! (And east coast) lol. If this actually happens today I don’t know what I would do. Pipe dream or not, I’m READY for this draft to start!

This goes against everything Ballard would do, however it would be something that Irsay would love to do as he is a romantic. Probability is very very low though.

I never say never, because I don't know. But Ballard trading up in the first round probably isn't happening.

Yeah, one thing we have to keep in mind is that they honestly still don’t know whether Richardson will be the franchise QB we all hope he will be. If he doesn’t pan out, the organization needs the ammunition to move for a new QB so I think that is why Ballard is not trigger happy in the draft to move substantially up or spend big in FA by using draft capital.

If we had Stroud, things might be different. Texans are safe to spend big as they did.

    Just something to ponder about.

My disagreement is with the way we're using resources. I think there are certain areas where the team needs to make significant improvements, and I would have liked to see the cap allocated to those areas. Backup/rotational NT/DT isn't one of those areas.

Yeah, not going to lie. I'm starting to lose faith in Ballard's team building philosophy. This extreme obsession with the trenches has never really materialized in a superior defense despite the fact that Ballard has been here for many years. I think Steichen will save us on the offense side of the ball regarding team building, but I dislike that Ballard does not put a consistent premium on DB (CB + FS). Sure, he will get a good CB like Gilmore once in a while, but you can never trust that we will have a good DB when going into a new season.

This is the hope I'm hanging onto for the offseason. That Ballard was less aggressive because of Reich not pushing him to get players, and that Steichen will be more aggressive to get his guys and Ballard will budge on his philosophy because of that. Generally, Ballard listened to Reich to a fault, so I'm hoping it works to our advantage with Steichen as his impact was seen with the Eagles in how Howie Roseman operated.

I agree with this as I’m left with the impression that Reich either didn’t challenge Ballard enough for skill players or they were just too aligned on how to build the team (in a bad way).

Meh. Formerly great player gets cut by his team, and uses it as motivation. Most professional athletes walk around with a giant chip on their shoulder anyway. I don't care about this one bit.

I actually wish the Colts had been more vocal about why they cut him. I'm frustrated by how little information we got about the decision.

True, but the Colts have still paid him very good money even this year that will secure him and his family for years to come so maybe he should just be grateful for what life have brought him so far and let his play on the field talk for him if he feels entitled to more. But whatever, I gues…
